  1. Guess you didn't happen to see Cardale's preseason performance with the Chargers? Thought that would take some of the wind out do your sails on the Cardale argument, but I guess not... lol He completed a whole 2 passes and generally looked terrible. The coaches were showing him how to hand the ball off on the sidelines. Yikes! That's high school stuff. Yates has looked much better than Cardale has, and Yates is terrible. That should tell you something. Oh and it was never about Yates vs Cardale anyway. Buffalo wants to focus on 1 developmental QB. It's way too tough to try and legitimately develop 2 young QBs at once and get them both enough snaps, and Cardale is SOOO raw he needs all the developmental snaps he can get. It was Cardale vs Peterman as far as which QB to keep, and Peterman is MILES ahead of Cardale. It's not even close. He is one of the rawest QB I've seen at the NFL level. He is the longest of long shots. It is what it is. It has zero to do with Whaley drafting him. Hey - do you still think Jordan Mills is good, too? lol
  2. Yes, very poorly. That's why I was so excited that we were bringing in what I felt was some decent competition for him. I meant so far this preseason Schmidt has looked better. Sounds like he's been outperforming Rehkow in practice and he's looked pretty good in the 2 preseason games. Better than last season, that's for sure.
  3. I didn't get to see the game but the stat line sure doesn't look pretty - http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/15803/ej-manuel 3 for 9, 16 total yards 33.3% completion per. with an average of 1.78yds per att.
  4. I watched that video 4 times and I still don't really get what was so impressive with that performance? I wasn't all that impressed with his preseason week 1 performance either... That TD throw was good, and that 2nd last throw in the video was pretty nice. Maybe that 1 throw at about 35 seconds in to the middle of the field (although a pretty standard throw). Other than that I struggled to find anything to say I was really impressed with... He looked like a very raw rookie QB IMO. They had him playing almost exclusively from the shotgun, he had quite a bit of time to throw and I thought he was still pretty quick to scramble. That's about the only time I thought he looked truly comfortable, was when he was scrambling. He seems to have no idea how to step up and play in the pocket. The couple snaps he took from under center, his footwork was horrendous on his drops (although I thought his footwork was pretty bad overall). His throwing motion still looks like it did in college. He was missing throws, didn't look to be going through his progressions - a lot of times it seemed like if his 1st read wasn't open he'd start scrambling/running (although it's hard to tell from this video). I thought KC did a lot of stuff on offense to make it easier for Mahomes and I still thought he somewhat struggled. Honestly, I've been more impressed with what I've seen from Peterman than what I've seen from Mahomes. Just my opinion though. Peterman looks much more comfortable under center and in the pocket, and has done a good job of going through progressions and finding hismopen receivers. I'm not expert at evaluating QBs though, so take my opinion for what it's worth... It's not just about improving from Tyrod, either. It's about finding a legit franchise QB. I'm not sure yet that Mahomes will be one. He landed in a very good spot though, so time will tell.
  5. I was actually kind of excited when we signed Rehkow as an UDFA. He was very good in college and considered one of the best kickers/punters in the draft. Plus, it would have been really cool to only need 1 roster spot for both the P and K... But with how well both Schmidt and Hauschka have played, he didn't stand much of a chance. Hope he catches on somewhere. I knew he didn't have much of a chance at winning a spot over Hauschka. Last years Schmidt though... He served his purpose I guess, providing competition to Schmidt (and Hauschka).
  6. No, it's not really a sure thing that they will struggle in the regular season. Actually, preseason success is a terrible indicator of regular season results. There have been plenty of teams that went 0-4 in the preseason and went on to have good seasons. For just 1 example- The 1990 Bills. They sucked in preseason that year, could hardly score, went 0-4. Then won 13 games in the regular season and went to their 1st Super Bowl. And there's been plenty of teams that went 4-0 in preseason and went on to suck in regular season. Like the 2008 Lions for ex. They went undefeated during preseason, looked great and people were hyping them up. Then they went 0-16 in the regular season that year. Or the Rams in 2011. Went 4-0 preseason, 2-14 regular season. Actually, the last I looked, teams that went 4-0 in the preseason missed the playoffs more times than not. Im not saying the Bills are going to be great this year, but I'm definitely not ready to panic yet and you surely can't say that it's a "sure sign" the offense will suck from 2 preseason games with no game plan, totally vanilla schemes and an O Line that struggled mightily.
  7. I don't think the Bills have their 6th this year, do they? Didn't it go to LA? He ran a 4.33 so he's definitely got speed. I can't say I've seen a whole lot of him but for a 7th why not? He did meet with the Carolina Panthers leading up to the draft, so it's possible Beane has some familiarity with him.
  8. I do not think that they should stop playing the national anthem during football games. There is absolutely no reason to. But I also don't think we should make a big deal about someone who decides they want to sit or kneel during it. People who get so angered and offended over someone sitting/kneeling during the anthem don't seem to take into account that the 1st amendment to the constitution gives us that freedom to free speech and peaceful protest. Why is it more patriotic to honor the national anthem, which is a song and doesn't entitle us to any of our great freedoms that we are promised in the USA, than the constitution that this country was founded on? The document that actually guarantees us many of those freedoms that we all love so much. Our country was somewhat built on protest. We might not be the United States of America if not for the protest of taxation without representation by our founding fathers. To be clear, I don't sit during the anthem myself. I stand and honor this country and the men/women who fight for it. But I also 100% support the rights of people to choose to sit/kneel. It's really not that big of a deal to me. Certainly nothing to get so bent out of shape to send a guy death threats over.
  9. In a somewhat unrelated topic - Lesean McCoy bought 200 philly cheese steaks for him and his teammates after the Eagles game - http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000831472/article/lesean-mccoy-buys-200-cheesesteaks-for-bills I didn't know where else to put this. lol
  10. I thought they had to release a combination of 3 players to get that 3rd round comp pick? From the way I understand it, releasing Ducasse alone wouldn't net the Bills that 3rd round comp. If I understand it correctly, the Bills also have until week 10 to release those players to get the comp pick. I agree about Ducasse sucking though. Seems like he would be a very easy replacement/upgrade. I will be very surprised if he sticks with this team though.
  11. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-ranking-all-32-nfl-offensive-lines-this-season For what it's worth, PFF actually had the ravens o line ranked higher than the Bills last year. In 2015 they had them ranked #13 and Buffalo #9 - https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-ranking-all-32-offensive-lines-this-season In 2014 Baltimore was ranked the #3 O line in the NFL - https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/2014-pff-offensive-line-rankings Football outsides had the ravens ranked the #8 pass protection line last year, and the Bills #31. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol In 2015 the ravens ranked #2 in pass protection by F.O. - http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol2015
  12. I thought he was getting pushed back at times & having trouble holding his ground + stopping the rush. Don't get me wrong, he looked good at times too. Check out the cover 1 podcast that was just posted here today if you're interested. They review the offense game film and you can see Wood struggling at times. They actually specifically talk about the wood injury around 24 minutes in. https://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/195480-tyrod-taylor-film-session-vs-eagles/
  13. Huh. I didn't take it that way at all. I thought he was referring more to the media, not fans. I kinda liked that he was annoyed by the tanking talk. I thought he made some good points as to why they weren't tanking. The Jets are tanking. Cleveland tanked. The Bills are not tanking. As far as his press conferences, I don't see how they could even be put in the same ballpark as Whaley's, IMO anyway. Whaley has some big time trouble with public speaking. I thought Beane has been better than Whaley by miles... His public speaking ability was one of the first things I noticed about him.
  14. I've heard he is one of the more well respected line coaches in the NFL and I know he was very highly regarded for the work he did with that Eagles o line in his time there. I know there was a bit of a bidding war between Baltimore, Chicago and Kansas City when he was let go from the Eagles. I thought our run game has looked good overall this preseason, with the o line opening up some pretty nice holes. I can't really blame him for Mills and Henderson's play. It's not like Mills was good under Kromer last year either - he was the same turn-style last year. Henderson is trying to come back (and recover) from a serious disease that had a major impact on him. If Glenn were playing, LT wouldn't be an issue... Even Wood is coming back from a broken leg. I'm sure he's not back to 100% quite yet (as far as being in shape, knocking off the rust etc). I agree Ducasse shouldn't be starting over Miller anymore, but let's wait and see if he even makes the roster, let alone starts over Miller when the regular season starts. If he does, then it's obviously an issue (assuming his play continues to be so terrible). It's only been 2 preseason games though guys! (and they have new systems on both sides of the ball) The O line is pretty much 1 on 1 during preseason. They're not really giving extra help to the spots on the o line that need it like they will in regular season. No reason to overreact yet.
  15. Seems more like pure speculation than an actual trade rumor. That article isn't all that well written IMO, either. They bring up Buffalo letting Woods and Goodwin walk like it's some insult to Taylor, but make no mention of the guys they signed to replace them and that they probably upgraded the WR corps in general over what they had on the field most of last season. Then they assume Shady is unhappy here because Maclin chose Baltimore. I just couldn't take this article seriously.
  16. I realize that. The poster I was responding to was talking about having Bortles (under his 5th year option), Peterman and a drafted rookie in 2018. I'd have no real issue with taking Bortles as a salary dump for a good draft pick.
  17. Bortles 5th year option is $19 million. No thanks. lol
  18. They just said on the John Murphy show that Doug Marrone said there will now be an open competition for starting QB between Bortles and Chad Henne, splitting 1st team reps.
  19. Were there grades up for the rest of the O line yet? Definitely be curious to see those...
  20. Definitely has to be a tough job to try and evaluate certain position from that game - I'm trying not to overreact as it was just a preseason game but like you both said, the O line... just wow. I haven't re-watched the game yet but It seemed like the QB was under pressure almost every play while Philly's starting D line was in there. And forget about stopping a blitz... lol. We are totally screwed if Cordy Glenn misses any substantial amount of time, and if Dawkins isn't able to take a big step forward to grab that RT spot. Hopefully the Vlad Ducasse experiment is over with now too. Watching that o line, I couldn't help but wonder if the Bills have possibly the worst LT/RT combo in the entire NFL right now. Tell you something else - I'm really missing Kouandjio at the moment. He sure would be nice to have playing LT right now. I don't quite understand why they cut him so quickly. If it was the off field incident, I don't think he was ever even charged with anything was he? You can't have an entire team of choir boys... seems like a short sighted move right now, especially considering Glenn was recovering from injury.
  21. He stayed with him fine. He just needed to get his head around and he could have made a play.
