  1. I don't really see any way Jones fell to the 3rd round. It was reported that Carolina was high on him (among other teams), which is rumored to be why the Bills traded up in front of Carolina in the 2nd to get him. Every draft projection I seen showed him as a late 1st or 2nd round pick. If you think Kizer should have been the pick over Jones I can understand that. But I don't see any reason to assume Jones would have been there in the 3rd.
  2. I see a lot of differences in the way this new regime is doing things, but when talking about the players I see a difference in the type that they are acquiring too. What I've really noticed is the difference in character and attitude. Every players they've brought in (Hyde, Poyer, White, Jones, Dawkins, Matthews, Gaines etc) seems to really have a team first (as opposed to "me first") mentality. I have heard almost every single one of those guys say something about not caring what their role is and just wanting to do whatever the team needs to win games (or some similar sentiment). All have had glowing reviews as to what type of teammates they are. Like Matthews, who was willing to stay after practice every day to work with one of his teammates (and I've heard similar stories about others they've brought in as well). All seem to be very hard workers too, and it's not like they're crappy players either (as is sometimes associated with hard working, team players...lol). A lot of them remind me of Kyle Williams type players TBH. They all seem the type that will buy in to what a coaching staff is trying to do and give 100% effort all the time. None seem the type that would complain about a scheme or the way they're being used in that scheme. I'm hoping it makes it more likely that these high character guys are also the type (like Kyle) who will really buy in to the city of Buffalo & the Buffalo Bills - the types of players that are more likely to buy in to one team and want to stick with that team for most of their careers. I have no idea if any of these players are like that or not, but it seems like a higher possibility than with certain other types of player personalities... I remember a quote from McDermott when he was first hired - he said when a team fires their coach/GM (etc) it means that the team is "sick". That there's problem(s) somewhere in the organization, and like when you're sick, you have to identify the problem and then take the needed action to address it. It makes me wonder if he identified some of the player personality types (as well as team building/camaraderie) as one of the problems here (looking at what's happened in recent years, it doesn't seem to be that big of a stretch...) and wanted to be sure to bring in a different type of player to help with starting to build the base of this team/culture. I have no idea if their plan will work, only time will tell. But they definitely have a clear vision and seem to be doing their best to execute it. That's better than what I can say for previous regimes, where it was much harder to distinguish any type of real vision for the type of team they wanted.
  3. I guess I don't really see it as the same circumstances. The Browns didn't have any established starting QB on their roster. They didn't have a guy who has led a good looking offense the past 2 seasons and is looked at as the starter and a leader (on the team) by all of his teammates, like the Bills do with Tyrod. They didn't give a QB a new contract this offseason to be their starter (like with TT). They traded for Brock Osweiller but only to get that 2nd round pick. There were reports that they were going to cut him immediately after trading for him but they would have got in trouble for doing so, since you can't sell cap space for draft picks. So they gave him a shot to play and he didn't look very good. Kizer was a high draft pick and clearly has the most talent of any QB on their roster. It's been reported that he's looked like the best QB on the roster through much of the offseason, camp/practices and preseason. Where as with the Bills it's been reported most offseason/camp that Tyrod looked like the best QB on the roster (and at one point there were reports saying that it wasn't even close between him and the other 2). Peterman has maybe picked up some ground the last 2 preseason games, but I wouldn't say he's passed TT on the depth chart or earned the starting job over him yet by any means. Tyrod may not be the long term solution, but You kind of have to give TT a shot in the regular season at this point IMO. I also feel He's earned that chance with his play the last 2 years. If he sucks in this offense in the regular season, and NP continues to improve and look good, then you go to him. Plus, benching TT before a single regular season snap wouldn't be a good look to the veteran players on this team who all seem to have a lot of faith in TT. They are trying to sell a culture change and "earn everything you get". Benching TT before the regular season when nobody has really taken the job from him would be a good way to lose the locker room IMO. The move to Peterman is a lot easier to make if TT sucks in the regular season.
  4. Trevor Seimian won the Broncos starting job - http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000832941/article/trevor-siemian-named-broncos-starting-quarterback 'Broncos coach Vance Joseph named Siemian his starting quarterback at a news conference Monday, saying Siemian was the "clear-cut winner" in his duel with Paxton Lynch. "I was pleased with both guys, but overall the operation of the entire offense, the decision making, ball placement was more consistent with Trevor -- that's why he won the job," Joseph said. "I met with those guys this morning -- they understood that, we just finished our team meetings so everyone is on the same page. Weâre all going to support Paxton moving forward. He's a young player, he's got a bright future still and in my opinion we have two quarterbacks. Most teams you can't say that and I firmly believe that." During the 2017 preseason, Siemian has completed 14-of-18 passing for 144 yards, 8.0 yards per attempt, with one touchdown, zero interceptions at a 118.5 passer rating. Lynch, meanwhile, has struggled to read defenses while going 15 of 22 for 81 yards, 3.7 YPA, zero touchdown passes or interceptions and a 74.2 passer rating.'
  5. 😂 I guess Noogie's never heard of sarcasm...
  6. I don't know. I guess I don't really see how they have rid the team of talent. The cuts and trades - On defense - Robey-Coleman, Darby, Aaron Williams (but I think that was injury, not just dumping him), Corey Graham? On offense - Sammy Watkins, Kouandjio? Gillislee on an offer sheet (more on this below). That doesn't seem to me like they rid the team of talent... if I missed anyone feel free to correct me. As far as 2017 free agents - I don't really see how you can put much of the blame on the new regime for those. Beane and his front office/personnel staff weren't even here yet. You can put it all on a 1st time head coach if you want. I'm sure he had pretty heavy input, but Whaley was still here and he has plenty of time to sign some of these guys before McDermott got here... and McD had nothing to do with the Bills cap space and +/- 26 free agents for 2017. Whaley had a year to sign Woods, Goodwin (etc) and he had 2 years to sign Gilmore. It was reported long before McDermott was hired that they weren't even really negotiating with Woods and that they weren't willing to go above $11.5M on Gilmore. Gillislee was a loss, but who's fault was that? You can blame McD for using the original round tender, maybe it was him. But Whaley did the same thing with Hogan last year, so it's not like it would be ab out of character move for him to make. Plus The Pats offered him $4M for this year and the Bills had like 26 free agents and a pretty tough cap situation (especially before all the cuts). That's the other thing - the cap wasn't in great shape because of Whaley and I believe they had the most free agent players in the NFL. Plus it was Whaley that gave McCoy an $8M cap hit this year. If you want to put all the blame on McDermott not to match the offer and pay $12M to your top 2 RB's, that's fine. I share a bit different opinion but I won't argue if you don't share the same opinion. They also brought in some players too. They kept Groy on the offer sheet, brought in Jordan Matthews (who's young & has been very productive on the field), EJ Gaines (who had almost as good a rookie season as Darby), Micah Hyde who's young. Jordan Poyer who's also young. Stephen Hauschka. Kept Lorenzo Alexander. Brought in Andre Holmes. Sammy was a loss that's hard to replace talent wise (but maybe not so much production wise). You're not going to find another WR with Sammy's potential. But other than that, I don't see where we really lost a whole lot of talent because of moves Beane + McDermott made. Also, a number of those talented players from the 2014 defense were lost under Rex.
  7. I'm not ready to give up on Ragland yet. I've had an ACL tear myself. It takes quite a bit of time to come back from that injury. My knee didn't feel right for a long time. My knee injury was more severe than Ragland's but it took me well over 6 months before I could even put any real weight on it, let alone walk normally or play any type of sports. I've heard a number of people say that it takes 2 years to fully come back from that injury - a season to get back on the field and another season to get back to pre-injury form. (Leslie Frazier recently talked about this). I don't know that Ragland will really ever fit this defense but I'd like to find out for sure before dumping him for someone like Dorsett. I'd at least like to see him fully recovered first. Plus, I guess I feel like (or hope) he'd be worth more than that to someone, too. But I liked Ragland a lot more coming out of college than Dorsett, so maybe I'm just bias.
  8. lol PastaJoe. Trump... It's even funnier since Trump blasted Obama for golfing too much and spending taxpayer money on trips (etc). Now Trump is on pace to blow Obama's golfing/vacation spending out of the water, yet no outcry from those "snowflakes" (to use trump supporters words) who endlessly complained about Obama doing so (but they complained about everything he did. It's raining out, Damn you Obama!) The double standard is real.
  9. Anquan Boldin says Charlottesville was part of the reason for his retirement - http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/08/anquan_boldin_says_he_retired_because_of_charlottesville_not_buffalo_bills.html Orchard Park, N.Y. -- It's easy to think Anquan Boldin's decision to retire 13 days after he signed with the Buffalo Bills was influenced by the team's recent trades and the likelihood of it missing the playoffs in 2017. However, Boldin has made multiple attempts since he made the decision to let people know it had nothing to do with the Bills. Put simply, his passion for social advocacy work now outweighs his passion for football. He said as much to ESPN's Jim Trotter on Sunday night and reiterated his stance on Sirius XM NFL Radio on Monday morning. "Seeing the things that transpired in the last week or so, for me, there's something bigger than football at this point," Boldin said. "It's kind of shocking for me to say that, because football has been something I dedicated my life to." Boldin went on to say he's uncomfortable with how divided we are as a nation and he will not be coming out of retirement. His career is over, despite the fact that he thinks he can still play. "Do I think that I can solve all of the problems that we have in this country? Of course not," Boldin said. "But I do think I have a duty to stand up and make my voice heard and be a voice for those that don't have a voice."
  10. Percy Harvin retired on Whaley. They signed a guy with a history of not being able to stay on the field to big money ($6M+) and he missed most of the season, retired at season's end after collecting that Bills money and eating up cap. Then the Bills signed him out of retirement for him to get migraines and retire again, once again waiting until the season was over and collecting his money from the Bills. At least Boldin retired before the season instead of stealing money from the Bills and eating up cap all season like Percy... lol I can't really blame either GM for trying to bolster their WT depth though.
  11. Thanks for sharing all this Yolo. So it sounds like he was legitimately telling the truth about why he retired. No reason to assume otherwise right now. There is an awful lot of stuff going on in this country right now. If he thinks he can help make a difference, I applaud him for trying to do so.
  12. So, this is your idea of Cardale earning credit? This is against 3rd and 4th string scrubs mind you. This is what a good QB looks like to you? Jones getting hot? lol https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Uux5yEKmepQ Hard to spin that as anything but another bad preseason performance by Cardale.
  13. Hey, here's a thought... Maybe he just Really wanted to retire a Buffalo Bill! lol
  14. I haven't seen any real credible rumors about Shady being traded. Just some guy(s) purely speculating and twitter running wild with it. Unless there's some that I've missed? There wasn't a single leak about the Sammy and Darby trades, or anything else since Beane took over. I'm not saying that it isn't true. But I don't think it's some foregone conclusion either, and I'm going to wait until it happens before I say this is a tanking season. Trading Sammy and Darby for a WR from the same draft class that's been just as productive on the field and a CB that had almost as good a rookie year as Darby doesn't equate to tanking in my book. This was always a transition year, though. Brand new coaching staff from top to bottom. Brand new front office and personnel staff from top to bottom. Brand new schemes on both sides of the ball. Tons of free agents (that had nothing to do with this new regime). 53+ new players...
  15. Well, he is also BuffaloBud420 too... Maybe he just smoked himself silly.
  16. Was there a bunch of good WR's sitting out there on the market when we signed Boldin? Seems to me like he was the best WR on the market at the time he was signed. It's not like they signed him to a big money deal or a long term. They signed a likely future hall of fame player to help bolster their depth at WR and to try and add someone with a winning pedigree to a young WR room (and locker room). The Boldin signing wasn't scary to me... just my opinion though.
  17. You're post hardly made any sense. There was nothing to answer, and you didn't address almost any of the points I made, you just ignored them. I didn't feel like your gibberish post deserved a response. And your evaluation of football talent has been absolutely terrible from what I've seen. The next time you're right in a football take will be the very first time ever... Tell us again how great Jordan Mills was last season, or how Cardale should be starting for the Bills this season because he's their only chance at winning... lmao.
  18. Still doesn't change the fact that they signed Boldin though. That was a move to help them win this season. Beane had no clue Boldin was going to retire when he made that statement.
  19. This actually kind of made me wonder if it has anything to do with McDermott's speech to the team today - about how he would support them protesting but to make sure that you were doing it for the right reasons and not to just let it be some hollow act on the field, to get out there in your local community and truly help make those changes you want to see a reality. It could just be a total coincidence that he retires for this reason the same day McDermott talked with the team about it. Reading this statement just made me wonder if the two were possibly connected in any way is all.
  20. He looked way too slow to be playing on the outside in Thursday's preseason game. Still quite a blow to buffalo's WR depth chart. But I'm sure they'll add some guys between now and the start of the season. I'd guess some decent guys will be cut between now and then. Sucks he even signed here in the first place though. This is now likely just another blow to locker room morale. I feel bad for the Bills players, and even McDermott to a degree.
  21. He had 1 year with Kubiak in Baltimore. That is much different than saying he's had 4 years in that offense. As for why people say Peterman looks better than CJ, just watch them play. It's very easy to see why people say that. Peterman looks like a legit QB. Cardale does not. And you keep bringing up CJ's 3 game run to a championship like it's super meaningful. It's not. It's was much more the team around CJ that won the championship than it was CJ. They may not have even got to that championship game with CJ starting the whole year. Football is a team sport. Cardale was a very small part of that championship win. You continually asking why Ohio St didn't win a championship the following year... but every year is different. That's like asking why doesn't the same team win a championship every year? Ohio State just ran into a super hot Clemson team and lost. Clemson had a phenomenal year. The fact is Cardale stunk that year and was benched. He was given every opportunity to hang on to that starting job and he just couldn't do it. Go back and watch that season. You will see why they had no choice but to bench him. Here's a question for you - how many championship winning college QBs have gone on to have great NFL careers? Here's a list - http://www.thegridfe.com/2015/05/21/national-championship-quarterbacks-in-the-nfl/ As you can see, winning a college championship as a QB is meaningless in the NFL. To be clear, I am not trying to argue that Tyrod is the Bills future at QB. I think that is a long shot. As of now he is a mediocre NFL starting QB. But he is light years ahead of Cardale. I'd also take Peterman any day over Cardale as well. And that's what it came down to - Cardale or Peterman. It's too hard to develop 1 QB in the NFL, let alone 2 at the same time. There's simply not enough reps to go around, especially with the way the CBA limited practice time.
  22. Who was in this offense for 4 years? You surely don't mean Tyrod, because he was never in this offense for 4 years. Do you always just make stuff up?
  23. Lmao. Yup, I know that feeling... Yeah, the o line hasn't done any Bills QB any favors thus far... I haven't been blown away by Peterson by any means. I thought he's been decent to good. But when comparing him to guys like Watson and Mahomes who cost two 1st round picks (and an additional 3rd in Mahomes case), I think I've possibly seen more of the stuff that I personally look for in a starting QB out of Peterson - like poise, pocket presence, reading defenses, going through progressions etc. But It's only been a couple preseason games and Peterson was said to be more pro-ready. Watson and Mahomes are definitely more physically gifted. They have plenty of time to prove they're worth what was given up. I guess I just don't see what some are hyping them up over just yet though. Trubisky is really the only 2017 rookie QB who has actually somewhat impressed me (albeit it's against 3rd stringers in preseason).
  24. Oh I was soo pissed (and a little jealous) when Belichick coaxed him out of retirement! I hadn't heard this. Interesting if true. Makes sense if McDermott did try to keep him. That Kromer coached O line was fantastic at run blocking, but to be fair it had quite a bit of room to improve on pass protection (although replacing Mills would have went a long way to improve that).
