For as much crap as this coaching staff takes, they really do seem to be letting guys compete for jobs and starting the guy who earns it. It may may not happen immediately, but for the most part the guy who is playing better has been the one who has earned the startling job.

Who is debating this "Who is better with a Tyrod, Rex vs McDermott?" thing you keep talking about? I haven't seen anyone but you bring that up. I am pretty sure everyone realizes that this this is a completely different team than Rex had. There are over 50 new players and only 20 some left from Rex's tenure (if that). Rex is being talked about because he was out head coach just last year and ex Bills players keep talking about what a clown show it was (sorry, I know you were a big Rex Ryan fan...). What nickell Robert-Coleman said has nothing to do with Tyrod. You realize this would be a discussion even if Tyrod wasn't here, right? Also, I see the majority of this board blaming Tyrod for the things that are his fault. Not a single person here thinks he is a HOF QB. Seems to me like the majority here are ready to move on... Im not defending Tyrod either, so don't try to say that I am. This post has nothing to do with that. I think he has sucked this year and I look forward to having a better QB under center. I am really hoping that they can somehow land one of the top QBs in this draft.

Since Goff's turnaround is being mentioned quite a bit, I think it's fair to mention that Sean McVay is probably playing a very large role in that. McVay is basically taking one of the hardest parts of being a QB away from Goff and doing it himself. He's lining the offense up early and using the headset to read the defensive coverage for Goff, and telling him where coverage dictates the ball should go (as well as getting him into the proper checks). It seems like a bit of a loophole in the rules to me, but I'm not sure how you'd correct it... Really, it's just a damn smart move by McVay. That's some Belichick, Patriots type stuff. Being smart enough to find ways to exploit the current rules to give your team every possible advantage. Now obviously Goff also deserves credit for his turn around, too. He's the one out there executing the play calls and throwing the ball. But im just saying, you have to wonder where he'd be at without McVay doing what he is. That takes a Ton of pressure off a young QB. Goff is damn lucky to have a coach like that.

That's the only clause I could find, too. Why would Ralph or Mary Wilson put that clause in the sale contract? To make the team harder to sell, and to make sure less people were interested in bidding? It would only make sense if it were to keep the team in Buffalo. But If that were the case and there was a clause to build a stadium in WNY, Bon Jovi and the Toronto group wouldn't have even made a bid. And they wouldn't have had to try and convince Mary Wilson that they weren't going to move the team (like they tried) because it wouldn't have been possible. Im not even sure that Ralph Wilson could stipulate that a new owner has to build a stadium 8 years after purchasing the team. That just sounds totally ridiculous to me. The way I understand it, Ralph did everything he could to deter the team from moving with that iron clad lease at Ralph Wilson that he signed while he was still owner. Other than that, and dictating/asking to his wife not to sell the team to someone who would move them, there wasn't much else he could do to keep the team here. Once the sale is made it's all up to the new owner. I don't see how you could dictate to a new owner what he is and isn't able to do with his team. What would be the point in purchasing it then?
-
You sure about that? Are you maybe thinking of that clause in the stadium lease that didn't allow a team to leave until 2022/23? Or Pegula saying that the NFL was pretty adamant that they wanted the Bills to eventually build a new stadium? The NFL can't force Pegula to build one, though. And there was nothing in the sale (that I'm aware of) that forces the owners to build a new stadium.

Tyler Dunne Article on Sammy Watkins' Maturation

I dont think that that seems to be his program. His program seems to be to bring in guys that they can mould and develop themselves, while surrounding them with character vets who do things the right way to help teach the young guys. Zay Jones wasn't a guy who didn't/doesn't need any development. He seems to be coming along. Dion Dawkins also wasn't a guy who didn't need any development, and he's coming along nicely too. Matt Milano was a late round pick that clearly needed development and has earned + been holding his own in a starting role. McD's actually getting weekly contributions from his entire draft class. If you want to argue that Tre White doesn't need development and would produce for any coach, I don't really know how to argue against it since it's not really something we can know. But I would say that he has gotten better as the year went on, and id like to give our coaching staff some credit for that... and id also say that McD deserves some credit for identifying and drafting a player like Tre White (in the late 1st) in the first place. It's not like previous regimes usually drafted players with his type of personality, maturity, smarts etc. Also, he helped develop numerous players in Carolina. I'd have to look back at his Carolina teams but I know he has numerous young players that he brought along while there. One I can think of of the top of my head is Josh Norman. He was a 5th round pick that McD helped turn into a top 3-5 CB in the NFL. -

Son of a B word! Another great comeback effort falls short in OT. What at a waste of one of the best games of Eichel's career... Why is this team so damn awful in OT? And what's with all these !@#$ing cute behind the back drop passes? -

Imdidnt get the chance to listen to his interview yet, but from reading that bolder paragraph it sure sounds to me like Kane will be traded. Trade deadline is barely 2 months away. I guess that still leaves time to hammer out an extension. But if Botterill has no desire to talk extension with Kane right now, I'm not sure what would change in the next 2 months. It's not like Kane is playing crappy or anything. Edit - I just seen this part of Botterill's quote on Kane - "For the most part, an expiring contract like that, you're bringing in a future asset. The team acquiring him is going for a Stanley Cup run." Definitrly sounds like Kane's a goner. Just hope we get something good for him. A late 1st isn't very likely to ever turn into the impact type of player Kane is. Sure hope we get more than that... If we don't get good assets in return, you can officially call it another terrible waste of assets by Tim Murray (although maybe if he was still here, Kane would be extended (assuming Kim Pegula would allow it...)). -
Its more Felton vs Dimarco, as he's the one playing more of Felton's role from last year.

Anyone who's still mad and doesn't understand why the Bills traded Watkins needs to read this article. Thanks for sharing OP. -
The Glenn trade stuff doesn't make sense. Everything that came out said that the Bills wanted a lot in return for him, and that the cost was prohibitively high (which is why Seattle went elsewhere). Also, if he won't pass a physical now, how would he have passed one to be traded weeks ago?

DC Frazier Announces Matt Milano as Starting WLB
BillsFan4 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. As of right now now every single player from that draft is contributing. 4 starters, 1 backup (QB) and 1 backup/special teams (Vallejo). We obviously need to see what they turn into in the long term, but as of now that draft looks promising (IMO). If they hit like that in 2018, they are in damn good shape. -
I was talking about GPU and CPU mining of other cryptocurrencies, like monero, eth, sumo, etc etc. So I could mine one type with the graphics card and another with the processor. (I'm looking for a new desktop computer anyway...) Id like to mine a few diff. types in case another one skyrockets like btc. If if I did buy an antminer S9, how long do you think it would be before it was too outdated to be worth mining with? Can you then use it to mine other currencies? Or is it only good for bitcoin mining?
-
Any suggestions on what processor and graphics card to buy for GPU and CPU mining? Is intel better, or AMD (processors)? What about graphics cards? Any suggestions on which cryptocurrencies to mine? Also, what type of price range are bitcoin mining rigs that'll make bitcoin mining worthwhile and not just a waste of electricity? Would an antminer s7 (just over 4TH/s) be worth it? Or S9? If so, any idea of how much use I would get out of it before it was too outdated? Im thinking GPU and CPU mining would probably be a better place for me to start... Im pretty new to all of this. Trying to learn. Sorry for so many questions.

Yeah I hate that tunnel. Im only down there every few months but I always hate having to walk through there.

We shopped out a bunch of talent and are currently in the tear down phase of a rebuild. We really haven't even started the rebuilding part yet. Did people really even expect us to be 7-6 right now? Worst we finish is 7-9 (and hopefully it's more like 9-7 (knock on wood)). Thats pretty damn good, all things considered IMO. I don't like every decision McDermott makes, and he's definitely made some mistakes. But he is a rookie head coach, and he has a far less talented team than Rex had playing much better football (outside of 3 games). They are much more disciplined, their fundamentals are greatly improved, they've been much better at not beating themselves, and all the players seem to have really bought in to what he's doing. I've heard numerous players say how much faith they have in this new regime, and I Love the team camaraderie he's established and the fight this team has. His draft class looks pretty damn good, too. As of right now we are getting contributions from his entire draft class. White, Dawkins, Jones and Milano are starting. Peterman's played spot duty and Vallejo has been a solid special teams contributor. That gets me pretty damn excited to see what they do with their boatload of picks in the coming draft(s). The McDermott hate reminds me a bit of the Marrone hate.... he could end up with the same 9-7 record (burn his 1st Hera instead of his 2nd) and some people would be just as happy to see McDermott gone as they were to see Marrone go. You know what, No coach is every going to be perfect. They all make mistakes and decisions we won't agree with. But like Marrone, McDermott has shown promise. He deserves more time. I think he's done a lot of good things. He has a clear vision and plan and has laid out the blueprint to execute it. Him, Beane and the entire scouting+personnel dept seem to all be on the same page. That's something we haven't seen in quite a while here. Let's just have some patience and see where it goes. At some point we have to stop firing coaches and changing directions every 2-3 years. That's something a lot of bad teams have in common and I am damn sick of being a bad team... I'd love to see them stick to a plan for once.

Well... I give them credit for coming back from a 2 goal deficit. That's usually a death sentence for this team. But damn I am sick of moral victories. I want actual victories for a change... Not sure who deserves more blame for that OT goal - Kane, Eichel or Lehner. It looked like Kane and Eichel got confused about who was covering Tarasenko and both just kinda let him skate by. Then Lehner tried his stupid damn poke check on a break away because he can't make a break away save any other way, and he puts the puck in the net off his stick (and it wouldn't have went in otherwise). Not like they wouldn't have lost in the shootout anyway I guess. Kinda kills the buzz from the Bills win though. I knew I should have ended the weekend on the Bills win and skipped the Sabres game. But for some reason I have to watch. Not sure why anymore. -
I hated the call at the time, and said as much, but I can understand why he did it. If they were stopped on 4th down Indy wouldn't have had to drive very far to be able to attempt a field goal, and at that point a FG wins the game for Indy without giving Buffalo's offense a chance to touch the ball again. McDermott obviously figured that punting gave the Bills offense a better chance a getting the ball back. And he was right. You can call it luck if you want, and there probably was some luck involved (which can be said about anything, really), but he was still right the way I see it.

Just put us out of our misery already. It was a freaking miracle Joe Webb got them past mid field. They were almost in field goal range, which clearly would have been their best chance at winning this game. We need 1 yard and McD punts... -

This is a terrible call by McDermott IMO
