The Draft Network: Josh Allen Review
Figster replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its also not like Allen did anything statistical in the passing game to help matters. Nobody knows Josh Allen better then we the fans, his coaches and teamates. Flying under the radar is fine by me... -
Nor do I Lfod, watching one of the latest interviews with Simms I was intrigued with how easily Allen could give explanation for his minor adjustments and actions. To me Allen comes accross as a guy that will soak up everything around him good and bad then find ways to make improvement. A great example of the process.

Myself personally, just as much can be learned from failure as success in many instances and throughout history we learn valuable lessons that should never be forgotten. Allot can be learned from 4 straight Superbowl losses in my humble opinion. If J K can give J A a few good pointers on what it took to go to 4 straight Superbowls, Allen is going to find a way to win. One Buffalo strong...

I can understand your concern Gu On the other hand though Josh Allen is a very intelligent individual. I think at the end of the day Allen is going to make his own mind up on what works for him and what doesn't in my humble opinion. I also think what Kelly has to offer might prove beneficial in many instances IMO. Much like a veteran QB like Anderson, despite being away from the game for so long.

GMFB “Bills will win the AFC East!”

Myself personally, Tom Brady aside from being arguably the best QB that ever played the game has had a very good string of luck when it comes to avoiding the kind of injuries that alone or through accumulation would end his historical career in the NFL. You can't escape father time or the Defense that is tailor made to beat you. We're coming for you Brady... -

Lack of continuity breeds losers, How different could it have been If Wade Philips stayed on as HC in Buffalo for the next decade? Marrone moves on and takes the Jags deeper into the playoffs then Buffalo has seen in over 2 decades. The Browns are another good example of a team that has been completely lacking in continuity. I'm not saying change is always a bad thing, but it means starting over again. Different systems need different players. Its a never ending process and clearly not ye kind of process HC McD has in mind. Good post, thanks.

ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Hopeless Optimist
Figster replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mistakes have been made, but the regime rebounded nicely IMO, McD took the brunt of the blame on the chin. Neglecting the Oline is probably a mistake many young GM's learn the hard way on. Without Beane we may not have Allen. Something I think we will all be forever grateful. The Bills just had what looks to be another good draft, along with some nice work done via FA. Its all good Rocky... -

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat We started the season with Peterman and ended with a more experienced Allen. ( Barkley as an upgrade at Backup). ...Rocky take off... ...better landing... -
ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Hopeless Optimist

Peterman won the QB competition from appearances, so I tend to agree with you Nickel. (outside the fact they should have kept McCarron on the roster that is) Oline mishandling on the other hand now is a different story which I think had allot to do with why the QB competition didn't give us a good indicator in my humble opinion. A J gets banged up, Allen gets the back of his head slammed into the turf in his own end zone. Not good. Yup, lets start/sacrifice Peterman to the football Gods... ...kid has a fast enough read and release he may survive... ... Ok... its getting late... -
ROCKPILE REVIEW - The Hopeless Optimist

Nor do I, Now had you asked me the same question before Allen returned from injury on his throwing arm I may have answered differently. I'm inclined to think Allens development might be a little ahead of schedule then where McDermott planned it to be after Josh Allens rookie season in my humble opinion. Barkley played very well and its possible under a different scenario Bills fans could be watching another QB competition this preseason. I think Allens improvement by seasons end took care of that problem. -
Daboll would in all likelihood be looking for and taking into consideration any advice McDermott may have on the the short and long term develpment of Josh Allen IMO. McDermotts experience working in the same camp as Cam Newton an athlete with a much similar skill set and an ability to help game plan the opposition gives Daboll a perspective through the eyes of a DC. For the most part though I think Daboll has been and will continue to the call the shots.
