It doesn't happen often because most high school players want to be recruited by head coaches themselves Or assistant coaches That's how you got the best players... When I was scouting for college programs.. I would go to games or camps... Compile my notes from films or interviews Give the list of kids to the head coach and assistant coach who is typically the head recruiter... Then they would pursue the kids Go to their parents house.. chat the parents up... Get them comfortable with the program.. bring them on campus Most four star or five star kids want to be lured by the head coach or the coordinator they'll be playing for Bill belichick is the one guy who I think could make it work without it

Happy 28th Birthday to the Queen of Buffalo
Buffalo716 replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in Off the Wall
Eh lol Jim Kelly married a western New Yorker and nobody ever called her the queen of Buffalo lol -
I think he can win a Natty within 4-5 years and he's out 6 SBs as head coach A Natty will cement his historic legacy which doesn't even need it

@BADOLBILZ Bruce Young was the #1 OVERALL player in his class by some 5'10 in shoes Jackson Arnold top 5 prospect class of 23... 6'1 probably with cleats Talking five-star guys with below average size now because they're pumping out athletes with arm strength and athleticism

There's a good dose of man match and zone match defenses in college ... A lot of combination coverages He shouldn't have a super hard time finding smart DBs to play his system He just needs to get more versatile zone match kids not press bump and run specialists But his scouts would be able to look for that at the camps and see how these kids react on the fly to certain coverages Yes there's tons of quarterbacks on the circuit right now around 6'1 and shorter Bonafide high School prospects Josh Allen coming from a tiny division where he didn't go to the camps that kids were going at since they were in eighth grade... Was definitely more of a reason than anything else If he was even at canisius he would have been recruited right out of high school

Cowboys OLB DeMarvion Overshown - torn ACL, MCL, PCL

As Doug Whaley said The human body is not meant to play football... And that's coming from somebody who football has been his life and passion for 35 plus years Physically from a science standpoint he's correct This game is 100 car crashes a game -
We are entering a golden age for college football...
Buffalo716 replied to GunnerBill's topic in College Football
There was a time when every single Heisman person was a 4th or 5th Year player Now you get off third or fourth year guy and they're considered Young lol Longevity does only help players develop.. and all the red shirt sophomores leaving early for the draft did hurt the NFL product -
Of course I'm talking in a perfect world where you rebuild in two years They're typically are 350 to 400 4 stars every class.. because as you know recruiting services are not equal Some services will give four stars to a kid while the other gives them three So that typically leaves 400 kids Getting 25 four stars would probably give you a top one or two or three class in the country... But you need consistent top 10 classes or a few top five classes to win a national championship now Of course even in the five stars there are busts... But top recruits are going to get the most resources and money thrown at them If you look at Blue Chip rankings .. aka the percentage of players on a team that are four star or five star when they win championships It's an insanely high percentage Three stars do make up the bulk of NFL draft prospects.. but that's because there's 3,000 of them a year.. while there's only 350 to 400 4 stars... And 30 5 Stars... So buy a number pool there's a lot more to choose from But he needs the 10 best three stars in the country... With 15 or 20 4 stars or higher to make a serious run

Yes like I said he's going to have to have a certain style of player At the end of the day there are 400 four-star players a year... Where there is a lot of pure football talent Finding 25 of those guys a year who are pure football players who love the game.. will turn around program faster than getting three five-star guys who could care less
-
The difference is deion Sanders is a player's coach He lets his players have a lot of fun and have lives outside of football BB is a control freak who needs to be in control of everything... He's going to have to recruit different style of kid than Sanders Most 5 stars nowadays don't want a hard nose coach... They want a Yes Man ... Travis Hunter gave Sanders the ultimatum of playing both sides or he's not going to Colorado .. guess who won the player Bill is going to have to find football players who want to play football Not just earn a paycheck and not just want to coast to the league.. Bill is the coach who's going to have to get four star guys love to play football and three star gems The way he coached in the NFL and his personality.. he's not going to be able to deal with top 25 high school recruits who have been told their s*** don't stink their whole life
-
Colorado was 9 and 3 and had the easiest schedule in the conference Taylor made with all the tougher games at home They're certainly not built anywhere near a top 15 team and Sanders is absolutely leaving really soon maybe after his son leaves He does have the best player in college football in Travis Hunter

Did Josh like the call at the goal line?
Buffalo716 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I had a friend who won a state championship a few years ago.. as a young coach and he built a really good high school program He told the he thought he was the equivalent to Sean McVay.. and I love my friend and he's a really good football coach But I was like dude you're like the same age and he won a super bowl... State championship is extremely impressive but I was like I think you're selling his world championship short lol -

Sean McVay .. is a tremendous coach He is probably the polar opposite to Bill belichick defensive guru.. he has more upstairs than Andy Reid or any offensive guy The thing with McVay is he's been so successful so young.. and the stress with being a football coach is massive.. guys like Urban Meyer have heart attacks on the sidelines because the stress McVay has a super bowl.. he has the recognition ... Sean McVay could be the offensive equivalent to Bill B if he wanted to coach for 35 years I just think he's going to walk off into the sunset before he could ever even reach those stratospheres even though he could be thought of at that level when he's 60 -
Oh I'm sure as an alumni you're 100% behind it BB is the greatest game planner and tactician of all time He might only be there for 3 to 5 years... And the first year might be a building of the foundation But years two through five could absolutely be something special... The only problem is the generation BB is a hard nose coach who is used to dealing with professionals who are adults... Not these millennial kids who don't take to hard coaching the same Coaching pros and coaching amateurs is different.. very different But if he could get the kids to buy in... I could see him getting a national championship in 3 4 years

Josh Allen, most total TD's in first 8 seasons.
Buffalo716 replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not from a lack of trying lol We literally gave von Miller a first-ballad Hall of famer 100 million contract We drafted Greg in the first round.. drafted epensesa in the second... Boogie basham in the second... Ed Oliver in the first... Signed Leonard Floyd The bills have thrown tons of money and resources at it -
Did Josh like the call at the goal line?
Buffalo716 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
At the end of the day Josh has complete control of the offense He runs up to the line yells, jumbo right power 3 flat Indicated strong right side tight end formation with a route combination Read my latest response to how Josh could have handled it which is inside the playbook The bills were playing fast and we have Superman Josh is like 25 out of 28 in his career on QB sneaks... He thought it was probably going to score But you can run up to the line and get into a passing play -
Did Josh like the call at the goal line?
Buffalo716 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah you can still run shotgun goal line from three tight ends and one running back set There is nothing there that says you need to goal line sneak it That's why Josh certainly was okay with the call You can get a shotgun snap with three tight ends and shift the line and get it moving... Not a goal line sneak only formation There are absolutely passing plays with three tight end sets they just ran to the line thinking they could bully it in There are shotgun formations with three tight ends and one running back sets They are professionals they absolutely have passing plays with that personnel What they did think is they have Josh Allen a cheat code for quarterback Sneak.. and Josh certainly agreed cuz he went right up to try and sneak it in But he has full control of the offense and we have three tight end passing sets -

Buffalo716 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bills practice situations The bills were in a personnel that 100% did not just have to be a goal line sneak There were tight ends on the field and running back You don't have to be under center.. this is the NFL You can get a shotgun snap from super heavy personnel it's not illegal and it's something that absolutely has been practiced before... College teams practice shotgun goal line -
Did Josh like the call at the goal line?
Buffalo716 replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
You can go shotgun goal line.. with a bunch of heavy people.. shift the line fully right get the pocket moving Then you get Josh on the move.. and they're still running backs and tight ends on the field -
He's better than Mike McCarthy and he's absolutely on the same level as harbaugh in Baltimore and Mike Tomlin Probably better than harbaugh ... I'm not worried when we play Pittsburgh or Baltimore and I don't think we're going to get out coached ... Did harbaugh beat McDermott in the playoffs? He's absolutely in the second tier of coaches with harbaugh and Tomlin etc If harbaugh didn't have 1 magical super bowl run... He's not even held in that upper stratosphere of coaches

Nobody will be talking about mahomes sitting in 15 years Tom Brady missed a season... Peyton Manning missed a season Pretty sure Drew Brees missed a season It will never be brought up in 15 years -
There's zero Bills fans who don't want to win a super bowl lol Fans on internet boards complaining about the best coach in team we've had here in 20 years is pathetic ... Let alone the coach who changed the culture at one Bills drive... We were inept in the laughing stock for close to 20 years and McDermott changed the culture I'm sorry but it is ... Sean McDermott is better than a lot of coaches who have one super bowls and the game on Sunday doesn't mean we can't It's overreaction
