Jason Witten returning to play for Cowboys
BuffAlone replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Holy crap! At his age, being retired for a year, and now coming back? Can he be near his old form? Or is this a somewhat selfish move on his part, and an even bigger blunder on the Cowgirls' part? Baffling.... -
Some draft buzz on discussion of Titans/trade up...
BuffAlone replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can pass that pipe over here. If Quinnen fell to us somehow, I'd be thrilled. He , IMO, would pay the most dividends for us. He'd be my top choice if I were GM -
Any orifice is a bad orifice when it's coming from crab's tree?

Very well said and I couldn't agree more. Besides the popular names that you shared, I think there is a deep class at O-line this year. and wouldn't be surprised to find starters, albeit not elite by most pundits' opinions, in rds 3-5. Likely names I've not even heard of. As long as they are worthy of their draft position, I trust McBeane to make the right pick. We need upgrades mostly everywhere, and if the last 2 drafts are any indication that our scouts know what they're doing, I expect nothing less than another very good to great draft class. One piece at a time?

This Off-season should be all about Allen
BuffAlone replied to BillsFan1988's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's 9. Out of 18 years. So 50%? I see one in the HOF, one likely a first ballot HOF'er, and not much more than that.I think elite, I think HOF caliber. Do you think besides Sharp and Gronk anybody else from this list is getting in the HOF? I guess it boils down to what you consider elite. I'd say those others were outstanding, but elite? I'm not sold on that -

"Some" criticism? Yikes. He only had those 3.2 seconds to pass because he either held the ball too long, or he was out of the pocket, scrambling. Those 3.2 seconds certainly weren't because of our stellar O-line play -

that number is skewed due to the Cheaters. What other elite TE's have won a SB since 2000? he has dropped a lot of balls. T hats my only concern with him. He admittedly lacks focus -

Umm....Donald was 6'1"285bs heading into the combine Oliver is 6'3, 280-292( depending on which site you look at) heading into the combine. Wth do you mean that its a lazy comparison?? Lmao dude I really don't care what YOUR opinion is about Gary. He's got all the tools and he's going top 15 in the draft. That may not be "elite", but projected production is there. I agree whole heartedly that we need skill positions, but I don't see the value for either Metcalf or Hockenson at #9 overall. And I highly doubt McBeane does either. Nothing Lazy about my opinion, but it differs from yours. And I hope like hell yours differs from McBeane's! Oliver was a 5 star recruit who had 39.5 TFL in 25 games. T hats a 1.66 per game average. Next on the list is only 1.09 per game. Oliver will be a great pro -

I like him a lot. But he was plagued with drops all of last year. He needs to improve his focus to be a true #1 -

Dont forget Josh Allen. He is actually the highest rated defensive player in the draft according to NFL network ratings. Yes, you might consider him a LB but he will also play some edge.Rashaan Gary is another highly rated guy. And I'm not sure that Oliver is a tweeter. He's versatile at his size, maybe a bit small for DT, a bit big for edge, but a beast wherever you put him. He's roughly the same size as Aaron Donald, so there's another comparison. At oline, hard to argue Jonah Williams is not elite. And on the cusp I'd say Jawaan Taylor. Those positions, at face value, are more detrimental to the Bills success than TE or even WR IMO. Do we need those positions? Hell yes. But at #9 overall? No way. You take the BPA regardless of need, with the exception of QB of course, which none would be ranked that high anyway -

The D line expected to go in the 1st rd are anything but overrated! In fact, there are about 4 of them that are blue chip/elite players. You're fooling yourself if you don't believe that. Personally, you don't draft either of your guys at #9. You take BPA no matter what. I'd be a player for either if we move back to the teens and pick up another pick(s), but no way do we draft them inside the top ten, with likely blue chip players on both lines still available. And If we land a TE like JJ in FA, no way we even consider another TE in the draft till rd 4. -
What's your 2019 projected offensive line
BuffAlone replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Beane will absolutely pay a top dollar for either Paradis or Morse. If they refuse to sign, he will draft a Center early, 2nd or 3rd rd. We saw what happened last year. Its imperative to steady our line play, specifically at C. Something to keep in mind also is that while Beane says he will be judicious with our cap, there IS a minimum that we MUST spend. I can't think of a better spot to spend that than on a veteran center I like that a lot? -

pretty much my thoughts as well -

True. But it's likely they draft one at some point. I mean, you can't just keep shuffling between FA's every 3 years and build continuity with JA. So, draft a good one, let him learn from/ backup/compete with a vet. If the rook wins, the rook wins. It may not be ideal, but that's how it goes. And actually what Beane said is "he'd sleep a lot better at night knowing he had a vet at C". At some point, we have to have our own guy that can be in place for 8+ years if we wanna have that continuity -
Two HUGE Coaching Names Who Almost Came to Buffalo
BuffAlone replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cool. There were also HUGE FA's who "almost" came to Buffalo, too -
Yeah, I knew Swann and Stalworth of course. But Thigpen and Randle El were average, or at least not on par to the others from Big Ben's tenure. Which makes me wonder if Juju is gonna be the same post Roethlisburger. Loved me some Greg Lloyd! You're right,he WAS a beast! But I was just talking about WR's
-
That does seem true. The Steelers of this century anyway...of course the 70's had a great team. But Ward in the 3rd, AB in the 6th were great finds. Of course Burress and Juju were more than just finds as they went in the 1st and 2nd, respectively. I think a lot of their success came from having the right QB and scheme tho. I couldn't tell ya the names of any WR from the 80's to the drafting of Big Ben, or what kind of stats they had. Big Ben had a big role in turning those mid to late round picks into superstars IMO. And once he retires, I'd be surprised if Juju has NEAR the success with Rudolph as his QB.
