His hat changed my mind. He is 100% our franchise QB.

But that really isn’t the issue - it’s a matter of opportunity cost and resource allocation - letting Gilmore walk was part of the calculus that included passing on Mahomes and trading down for Tre... that’s the issue.
Passing on Mahomes and all the other QBs for that matter rests on Pegula alone. We had a new head coach and a lame duck GM. There was never a chance a 1st round QB would be taken. You can trace that back to the decision to hire Rex Ryan and therefore creating organizational instability. Letting Gilmore walk had nothing to do with it.

Eh? Where did you get that from? This thread ia mainly saying Gilmore is good, always has been good and was under appreciated by Bills fans while he was here.
Admittedly I skimmed the thread but seemed like people were complaining we let him go. He is a good corner when he tries, I'm still quite happy he's not on the team because he gave up too often for my liking. Patriots fans hated him last year. This year he turned it around. I don't think he was underappreciated here. Most fans understand he played decently but never reached the level where his attitude was worth it. I can accept a diva on the team but they better be an elite talent. He was just above average while he was here. Very similar to Sammy Watkins honestly. JMO.

Are we criticizing McDermott for his secondary choices now? I will always trust him on that group. Good for Gilmore, he is having the best year of his career so far after arguably the worst of his career last year. But I'm much happier with the value of our group and his contract wouldn't put us any closer to a Super Bowl.

I want a combination of WR/RB in rounds 1 and 2. I realize an early RB is the thing that will probably upset most Bills fans most, but we really need a guy. It has to be a guy that can be an every down back and I’d assume more often then not, you need to get that guy early.
Agreed. I used to hate the idea of drafting a RB before round 4 but there has been a renaissance at that position lately. RBs have become very important in the passing game. My dream draft is trade down to like 16 for an extra 2nd rounder, draft DK Metcalf or N'Keal Harry, then Josh Jacobs with our first 2nd rounder, followed by the best available tight end. Then go all out on offensive and defensive linemen for the remainder of the draft. We need offensive skill players first and foremost, then fill out the trenches. We can fill our defensive needs in free agency.

Intersting.
Beane puts 6-10 on him and part of the plan. Then three coaches get fired.
Guess Terry isn’t as patient.
Early contender for weirdest hot take in the thread

Came across this the other day. It begs the question, who is the most surehanded reciever on the Bills roster? Ouch
This is the only time that I have ever left a highlight video unmuted. I laughed out loud multiple times. As funny as it is sad to watch.

Not a single thing has surprised me this year. That’s because I saw it all during the last few years. Just watching the highlights does not tell you who JA is. You have to watch him through the whole game and week to week. He has grown a lot this year, but his very first win in Laramie was in an overtime game where he had to scramble on like 4th down to score a touchdown. It was a completely busted play where he should have been sacked/tackled multiple times.
Its been hard hard being a Wyoming fan and a JA fan. Listening to all of the people that hated him and thought he was a bust. No one really knew him. He is a different kind of player. You just have to throw the stats out know he is going to do everything in his power to win and get better.
Reading all of these posts just gives me chills because everything I have know about him for so many years is starting to become evident to so many new people. Get ready for the ride because it’s going to be fun!
I genuinely love that a bunch of Wyoming fans keep coming here to tell us how good he will be. I do put stock in that kind of thing. FSU fans hated the EJ Manuel pick, hell his own coach did... Everyone that has followed Allen for a few years loves him. It's easy to see why when he's on his game.

I think his weaknesses are exactly what I thought they would be. Inconsistent ball placement, some trouble with touch passes and short throws, doesn't always read the field correctly, plays hero ball a little too much. Although the ball placement isn't as bad as I thought it would be and his touch passes have improved somewhat.
What changed in my mind is that his strengths are more off the charts than I could have imagined. Not just the arm strength, he obviously lives up to the hype on that. A lot of it his overall attitude about the game. He's confident but not arrogant. He loves to win but failure doesn't stop him. He's a leader but he doesn't steal the spotlight. The hero ball mindset is a strength as much it is a weakness. He is always looking to make a play and sometimes you need that from your QB. I trust that he will learn to rein it in.
And holy cow his mobility and toughness in the pocket are something else. That's the real shock. No one was talking about Josh Allen as a better runner than Lamar Jackson but statistically he has been. I know he shrugged off sacks at Wyoming but I didn't think it would translate this well in the NFL. The narrative on him pre-draft was all about his arm strength and his accuracy, and everything else kind of fell to the wayside.
He's using his strengths as a crutch while he's developing his weaknesses, and that's fine because his strengths are at an elite level. So his floor is significantly higher than I would have ever thought, and so is his ceiling for that matter. I would still say he is the riskiest pick of the top 4 QBs because he has more to develop. But I wouldn't trade him for any of them right now because if he puts it all together he will end up being one of the greatest QBs of all time. I'll take that bet.

Enough beat reporters are putting this out there that I have to think it is real.

I'm pretty sure is a legit source. This was definitely expected considering how many times McDermott has mentioned special teams as a problem this year.

and what would he do , when Josh pulls the ball down and runs ? Because he does that. When receivers are open. he seems to be playing like he needs to win games.
just his nature at this age : )
Brown and Allen would get along just swell ....: )
There is a huge culture problem in Pittsburgh, it isn't just Brown. Bell sat for a season and the o-linemen publicly criticized him. Roethlisberger publicly questioned their decision to draft a QB in the 3rd round. Everyone there seems to hate working with each other and Tomlin has lost the team. A change of scenery sometimes is all that's needed. Again the Bills would need to do their research and make sure Brown would accept a trade here.

How many years does he have left of premier production? He is 30. No way I'm trading a first round pick for past production.
I think he has 4 good years left. I honestly don't know what the price would be. I personally would give our 1st round pick but maybe he wouldn't cost that much.

I disagree. He doesn’t want the potential headaches. Lots of potential headaches with the one. Imagine how mad he’d get at JA when he sails an important 3rd and long over his head?
Jordan Phillips was a potential headache. He publicly defied his coach over his snap count. But he loves to play the game. I don't think McDermott minds that attitude as long as the player is talented and devoted to the game. That being said they would need to do their research and make sure Brown's personality would be the right fit here.
-
I think the attitude thing is overblown. Antonio Brown grew up extremely poor. At one point as a teenager he was homeless for 6 months. He was a walk-on at Central Michigan and devoted himself to football before becoming an NFL star. Yeah like many football players he is emotional. He is also incredibly focused and talented. I think McDermott would love his attitude here and our young core would embrace him.

I'd happily hand over a 1st round pick if I thought he and Poyer could coexist.
I'd trade a 1st and Poyer to the Steelers if that's what it took. Antonio Brown is a top 10 player in the entire league and immediately fills our biggest need. You don't let someone like that go because he has bad blood with an above average safety. If Brown is available we should do whatever it takes to get him. I'd offer a 1st and a 4th and maybe a player.

His tenure with the Bengals has a driver's license. I'm surprised they finally pulled the trigger. I wonder if Andy Dalton is done there too.

Wow that's a really uninspiring hire IMO. Aaron Rodgers would have more than one Super Bowl ring if McCarthy was worth anything. I'm sure a ton of young innovative coaches would love to coach up Baker Mayfield.

I don't buy it. The original source of the story is Rex Ryan blabbering to his friends. I'm sure he loves seeing his name in the news again.

The Raiders on the other hand, would be a great move. If the Raiders want a QB with their top pick then want another highly rated defensive player, they have the draft capital to do it.
The Bills could easily ask for the Raiders remaining top picks in the 20's, then be put in a situation where selecting both an O-Lineman & Wide Receiver would make more sense, value wise.
I would love this. Give me 2 lower 1st round picks in exchange for pick 9. It makes sense for the Raiders too because they have a lot of picks and they need top 10 talent on their team.

Antonio Brown Trade Value

If they can trade him to the NFC they will. My first guess would be the Packers. They have a small window while Aaron Rodgers is still playing and their offense is devoid of talent. Plus a new head coach about to take over who might be looking to make a splash, and high picks to trade.
