  1. And with some teams only identifying 15 first rounders and lots of depth in round 2, 21 and 22 were not worth that much. Every year is different, sometimes there is pro bowl projected talent in the 20's, this year there isn't. Also, we could still get Rosen, maybe at 12.
  2. The Colts werw, more likely than not, betting on the Giants and Broncos taking qbs. Its not clear that it will happen, and if it doesn't they would be silly not to float the idea of trading back.
  3. Smart. All GMs should go by consensus draft rankings...ALL THE TIME. I'd double down, and use the NFL.com rankings to fill my entire draft.
  4. Legend has it that it was not so much a game, as much as it was this exact play.
  5. Someone will program bots, for sure, or hire some shadow company from Russia.
  6. Your different opinion is that a qb who was above average for this franchise was below average. And finding a qb who is above average isn't easy. Tyrod is arguably the best QB the franchise has had since Kelly, although arguments can be made for Bledsoe or Flutie during stretches (maybe Fitz, if you ignore his intermediate and deep accuracy problems). So, to keep complaining about him after he's gone is going to rub some the wrong way.
  7. Your irrational, tempermental nature would be cute if your qb evaluation skills were not so poor. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you are unfamilliar with the parade of quarterbacks that this team has started over the last two decades, and that you lack the proper sample size to properly evaluate TT's performance from. There has always been a contingent of the fanbase irrationally dissatisfied with the qb play, and the same haters were calling for Jim Kelly's head, which many have conveniantly forgot.
  8. If you think an average QB would have easily made most throws that Taylor missed, your clearly unfamlliar with the rest of the league and the performances of the majority of Quarterbacks who started last year. The point is not how good or great Taylor is, is how bad most other qbs are.
  9. Your idea of an average QB is extremely flawed.
  10. I'm of the opinon that most of the high 'expert' opinions are little more than smoke and mirrors.
  11. Marino and Favre were like that, but both of them arguably lost alot of games as well.An interesting comparison is Dilfer, the only QB I can think of who won a superbowl and lost a job.
  12. Teams that turn the ball over are likely to lose though. And few would dispute that if you look at the history of the NFL. QB's who turn the ball over are alot are frequently benched, as well, so they don't get the chance to rack up numbers that a QB with lots of years and passing attempts will have. The stat may not mattet much over a career, or season, but over the course of a game its hard(if not impossible) to insist that it doesn't.
  13. Mike McCarthy is an awful coach, and there has been a string of bad GM's. They lack consistency on offense, and when you have the best QB in the league and can't be consistent with an offensive minded coach (that calls his own plays) your in trouble.
  14. Its tough to say. Most QB's with starter potential have (or had) day 2 grades if they are projected to need a year before starting. Alot of people had Pat at the top of round 2, right around where Dalton, Capernick, and Jimmy G went, so top 10 is still a bit high for a QB who needs a year, but the perspectives are changing. Today Dalton would have likely gone top 10, and maybe Jimmy G as well.
  15. Or they luck into a guy that doesn't need much in terms of development. Rosen might not have as a high of a ceiling as other prospects, but he looks like a hard prospect to screw up. If you can keep him healthy.
  16. Scheme and coaching also matter. I'm a big Mahomes fan, but I don't see him fitting in well with the current system/coaching staff. Kansas City has him in a better position to succeed, as Andy Reid has developed similar QB's. Like Watson, he is likely to run into turnover issues, and our coaches clearly don't like that at all. It all really starts with the Pegula's and the kind of organization that they are putting in place - when you keep hiring defensive minded coaches, your not placing much of a priority on developing a QB (Jeff Fisher failed over and over again, for example). Clearly, the FO wants someone who does not have to be developed much (because they don't know how to develop someone, anyway). I'm not complaining about this, either. You need the right system in place to take a guy like pat at 10. Or else you can screw it up, easily. Which is what we did with EJ, by the way.
  17. Not happening. He's ahead of Darnold on more than 1 board, and he's the most pro ready QB in the draft.
  18. Beane's purged the roster for cap space and extra picks in a weak draft year, so yeah, I think thats cocky. Clearly he thinks he's better than Wailey.
  19. Yeah, I don't think they were looking for an upgrade to begin with. They were looking for a bridge QB who's contract would be cheaper, so they could develop an upgrade.
  20. Based on the fact that not all drafts are equal. And sometimes GMs just get lucky with regard to need and talent available. Chip Kelly and Josh McDaniels (Tebow in the 1st) are both recent cases of cockiness gone wrong. And Ryan Grigson. (Trent Richardson for a 1st round pick) was a fool who was fortunate enough to have Luck sitting at 1, before he ruined the entire roster. Even the pats have missed alot lately, and Bill is seen as one of the best talent evaluators in the league.
  21. Yup. I'm worried that McBean is way to cocky with regards to his ability to find talent in the draft. They had success last year, but alot of scouts only have 15-18 players graded as first round talents this year. Why couldn't we trade up with the colts? The talent available at 22 is not that different than talent that will be available in the 40's or 50s. This draft isn't deep, to make matters worse.
  22. Absolutely, people can B word about Tyrod leaving passes on the field, and those complaints aren't innacurate. But without his running ability the Bills are going to be way easier to defend against, especially if their north of 30 starting RB goes down. Coordinators can double team Benjamin on passing downs or blitz against a weak line, while stacking 8 in the box against Shady on running downs. The Offense isn't going to match up well against average defenses, unless they hit it big on immediate help in the draft. Zay hasn't shown a consistent ability to move the chains, and who knows who will be throwing to him by the end of the year. And if the OLine is significantly weakened things could get ugly real quick, especially if they run into injuries. We have no depth, outside of the secondary. This is the reality.
  23. AJ is going to face alot of pressure, and Tyrod arguably made the Oline look a lot better than it was. He's not in a good position at all. I would not be surprised if we started 3 qbs next year. And the D will be too good for garbage time stat padding. They are going to run, alot. They have to.
