    I think you are going to see teams with cap space that normally would to extensions and such with that cap space sit on the cap surplus. think about it. Bills rollover would essentially wipe out a cap reduction of 20M and still allow a 10M in space added with a Cap Reduction next year.

    the other thing is IF the cap is really going to be reduced by 20M or so like they are projecting next year. If anything Tre opting out would put the Leverage on the Bills. Now they get to do the deal with 20M less cap.

    Very smart move by the NFLPA. There should be Zero pressure from the NFL or from Teams to pressure players not to opt out. for Once NFL think of your players as Partners.

    how does opting out help any leverage next year. It doesn’t if anything what it does is show how much of a talent he is in a very DB friendly McD Secondary system.

    Yep he will take it and still opt out. Hmmmm see how that works. This isn’t a contract leverage thing. Do deadline today for opt out. You really think this is about contract leverage. You know he could sign the Highest Contract in NFL History and opt out the very same meeting.

    If he opts out I do not blame him on Bit. He has a Family to think about and needs to make a decision as a father and husband first. And with that needs to make the decision his family thinks is the best decision for them. And Next year I will pay it back. It is just a loan

    Ok that makes sense, get younger and cheaper in the depth position (specially if play didnt fall off) I personally dont remember that point.

    This is interesting to me, how can the league just "pause" a teams season. Do that mean every game scheduled will be moved, or every game they cannot play they forfeit?

    So How can this work???? How can you just "pause" a teams season??? Will they be forced to Forfeit all the games that they cannot play (as their season is paused)?

    I think me I am a bit of a gambler. I think I would keep my contract and not opt our to hope that I can get a year toward UFA without having to play an entire season, Specially if I was paid once and have money in the bank.

    that is benefit as well. Say a rookie on a 5th year option. Gets 2 games and season Cancelled. Boom a UFA with no Miles

    easy to do for guys that have been paid harder for those on the rookie deals and 1 year deals. That is why I have been thinking this season is going to look very much like the Strike Year. Or Preseason specially if a big name opts out. Imagine the ripple effect a Mahomes opt out would cause.

    Yes they do. If they opt out and season cancelled nothing hurts their contract. It just slides to the left a year. so let’s say Star contract expired in 2022. Now with his opt out it expires 2023 even with a cancelled season.
