Are brake failures a common occurrence for you? I had it happen once and it was a brake line failure. Maybe I lead a charmed life, I had the Firestone tires but they didn't fail on me. Anyway, the 94% preventable stat is interesting. I wonder how it includes weather-related accidents where the human error may have been to be out driving in the first place.

I'd be shocked if the Browns trade out of #1. They swung and missed on Kizer and will try again this year. What wouldn't surprise me is the Giants taking Barkley at #2, not saying I expect that to happen, but it wouldn't surprise me. If that happens I could see the Browns trade out of #4. Bills could should be talking with the Browns about either the #1 or #4.

Triple A is probably better for him than the bullpen. Someone in the starting rotation is bound to get hurt or not pitch well. If Wheeler gets his act together he'll be next man up.

Making the playoffs for the first time in 17 years seems like a reasonable first step towards turning things around to me. The front office has done an excellent job positioning the Bills to grab a QB despite making the playoffs. I'll admit that I want the splashy trade-up to get the can't miss prospect (as if that exists!), but if that's not available, on to plan B!

I'm not an advocate of the tank. Just wondering if there's an NFL franchise that turned around their fortunes by tanking. The Colts and Luck comes to mind, but he hasn't won a thing.

I agree with this, but what if a trade up to Get your QB isn't possible? Take the QB available at 12 (or even trade-up out of desperation) and hope for the best even though you don't believe in him? Take a non-QB at 12 and then try to use your draft capital to get the guy you don't believe in before 22? This Jets trade-up is like sand in my gears. Fun times though, looking forward to how it plays out. Trusting the process.

I get the safety issues, but agree with OP's premise. I'm not looking for a shift to make the game defensive-oriented, I love great play on both sides of the ball. I'm just looking for a better balance. I had to look this up to confirm the details from my cloudy memory, but I remembered watching a ridiculous MNF game between the Packers and Redskins where both teams were scoring at will. That game was an aberration back then, nowadays it's not unexpected. A lot of people thought this past Super Bowl was a great game, but with only one punt it was way too offensive oriented for my taste.

Geez. I don't follow him but it seems like every 5 years or so we get a Dykstra story...usually bad with the occasional he's gotten his act together story. Dykstra epitomized the phrase "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog". He was a flat-out competitor who got the most out of his talents. He played with intensity and I assume lives his life with the same (probably misguided) intensity. Loved him as a Met, sad to hear the latest. P.S. - a random/obscure Dykstra memory. I remember seeing a highlight from spring training camp 1987 where Franklin Stubbs (L.A. Dodgers) was mocking Dykstra from the 1986 NLCS series walk-off HR, running and jumping with fists in the air . That was one of the first times I realized how much that '86 team was hated.

That's great, I've never been to a pre-season game in Florida. In 1987 I had good seats down by third base for Yankees/Orioles. I yelled something out to Ray Knight about '86 and he game me a thumbs up.

Had a cool Mets moment yesterday. Sitting near the end of a people-mover in the Minneapolis airport, I look up and do an obvious double-take when I see Dwight Gooden. Somehow he noticed either my double-take or my friends Mets hat. And as I'm poking my friend to look up from his phone Dwight waves over to us and says hi. I give him a 'Whats up Dwight" and he continues on his way. The whole thing lasted about as long as it takes you to walk 60 feet and 6 inches.

I don't believe for a second that the Jets aren't still targetting one of the QB's. Pretty sure McCown and Bridgewater are on one year deals, no?

The assumption is that we can trade further up, but what if we can't and Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield and Allen are all gone in the first 10? Consensus seems to be that Rudolph, Jackson and Falk would be a stretch at 12 so I could see a trade down or non-QB pick. But I have a hard time believing that we wouldn't grab one of those guys before the first round is over. I know you're on the Foles band wagon and if we can't trade up further that may end up looking more attractive, but I wouldn't do that at the expense of #12.

I'm watching SNY and they just popped up this quote from Mets pitching coach Dave Eiland: “Don’t let hitters get comfortable. When you’re pitching, you have to be feared. There is one stat I hope we lead the league in, and that’s hit batters." I think Syndegaard will get along very well with his new coach. What's more interesting to me is whether Eiland can turn around a guy like Robles. I thought Robles showed promise when he first came up, had a bit of an edge. Last year it looked like he was throwing BP.

Might need to mix in a few Susan B. Anthonys.

This is somewhat off topic but do you know what I miss? The quarter toll booths where the guy riding shotgun would have to make the hook shot out the passenger window and over the roof.

All good points. I was going under the assumption that the Jets will still bring in a rookie QB. I just find it hard to believe that Bowles and Maccagnan are going to hitch their wagon to Bridgewater. They both have to be on short leashes. If they did sign Bridgewater I could see them trade down and go for one of the lesser heralded QBs in the draft. Whatever happens the QB carousel this year has been very interesting. And we still have over a month to go before the dust settles.

I would think it makes the Jets less appealing to Bridgewater.

That's what I was thinking. I think he'll jump at any chance if he thinks he'll start the season.

Hah! I'm an eternal optimist and not dialed into every NFL player so after I got past "who the eff is Jeff Posey", I was thinking it must've been a steal.

Strong call. Pretty sure Posey was the guy I had in the back of my mind but couldn't remember. I think the legal tampering period is a farce that the NFL created in attempt to save face over signings at one minute past midnight. I don't think it changed a thing but honestly I could care less either way.
