  1. Gotta love this. The biggest question was if McD can beat ole Bill...and the answer is...like a freaking drum!
  2. Patriots fans gotta be crying like little babies about now. Why did we let Brady go...waaaaa...waaaa
  3. Welp, IMO Cowher got it done with a bunch of bums at QB over the years. Built a strong run game and defense while letting his QB manage the game. Tommy Maddox, Kordell Stewart, Mike Tomczak, Neil O'Donnell ...15 years and in the playoffs 10 of those with mostly bums. Yes, he finally won a SB with a 2nd year Big Ben...he also went to a SB with Neil O'Donnell. Mike Tomlin has had mighty Ben Roethlisberger in his entire 14 years. Look what happened when he didn't have him last season and when injured. Not good. I think it would be worst case scenario for Buffalo fans to see Cowher take the NY Jets job. JMO. I hope they go in a different direction or keep Mr. Wild Eyes.
  4. Look what happened with Baker Mayfield with a better head coach. Lamar Jackson won MVP because the Ravens built their entire offense around his skillset. Ryan Tannehill didn't look so good in Miami, then went to Tennessee and a new OC in a run first scheme and he became much better. Darnold has been screwed by his team, two head coaches, GM's and instead of building around him asap they tore the team down. Best receiver gone, best safety gone, best RB gone and their best D line player wants out now too. The Jets spent a #3 pick on Darnold they should at least build a team around him to see if he will develop into a top QB. There is talk that Bill Cowher wants the NY Jets job as HC and likes their current GM. This could change everything in NY. Then again should the Jets hire another bum for HC then Darnold is done for in NY.
  5. Good lord... Both McD and Beane were rookies coming to Buffalo three short seasons ago...First season playoffs with Tyrod Taylor at QB... McD in his first season righted a sinking ship torpedoed by Wrex Ryan, a 7-9 team in 2016. Ryan took the #4 overall defense with the very best D line, pass rush in the NFL and ruined it. McD rebuilt the defense the way he wanted it and one season later it became the #3 overall defense in 2018. #1 passing yards allowed. Kyle Williams, Lorax, Jerry Hughes were the only starters from 2016 for 2018. Now the only one left is Hughes in 2020. What offensive starters are still with Buffalo in 2020 from 2016, Dion Dawkins? That's almost a complete roster turnover for a new regime... to replace malcontents and guys who didn't buy into the new approach. First season 9-7 playoffs, year two 6-10 with a rookie QB... and lets not forget cash strapped because of the past regimes over paying for bums. Couldn't rebuild the O line or offense because of the cap issues. 2019 10-6. Playoffs again. At 11-3 the Buffalo Bills are already better than they have been in the last 20 years. It was 1999 that the Bills went 11-5 under Wade Phillips! This years team could finish with that record or 12-4, 13-3. the last time the Bills won 13 games was in 1990-1991 and super bowls. So far this regime has equaled what the Bills did under Marv Levy / Bill Polian in playoffs in three seasons. Actually better as this regime has already been to the playoffs 2x now. If you think about it Jim Kelly went to the USFL before Buffalo so he had that playing experience behind him when he hit the NFL. Josh Allen was very, very raw as he didn't attend a big time college and only had two seasons starting there. From what I see, the sky is the limit for this regime and could get to a super bowl this season. One of the top offenses in the entire league (#5 overall) and a defense that looks to be getting better with each week. Josh Allen is looking like the hottest QB in the league. The Bills are hot right now and I doubt any team wants to play them. A great GM, coaching staff, great owners, great players. It's an exciting time to be a Buffalo Bills fan!
  6. Not really true as when the Bills played the Chiefs and Buffalo worked on stopping that deep passing game while taking away hill. The Chiefs went right to the run game with Helaire 26 carries 161 yards while dominating the Bills ToP Chiefs 37:45 vs 22:15. Yes, Mahomes still had 225 yards passing, 2 TDs. That's still about half the yards he normally has so the Chiefs took what the Bills gave them...and pounded the rock. The Patriots might be 6-8 this year, but the best part of their entire team is their pass defense. 27th points, 24th yards on offense. 7th in points allowed, 11 in yards allowed on defense. The Patriots are #1 in passing attempts against them, #6 in passing yards allowed, #3 in passing TDs allowed and the #2 team in INTs. Meanwhile, the Patriots defense is #27th in rushing /attempts and 22nd in yards per attempt. In my view it would really make sense to work that Buffalo run game for several reasons. First, being that is the NE weakest part of their defense. Second, it would prepare the Bills offense to start gearing up for the upcoming snow, cold, wind in Buffalo for the playoffs. Lastly, that run game needs time to build continuity in becoming a force. I look back at last seasons 10-7 Titans/ 12-5 NE wildcard game in which Tennessee destroyed the Patriots on the ground, 40 rushes for 201 yards, 1 TD. Tallywacker went 9 of 16 for 76 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. I relished that game. I just want the Bills to win while making those patsies look bad. Singletary, Moss, Yeldon running all over them. Save Allen for the playoffs. JMO
  7. I agree with everything!... save the Bolded. While I think that Brian Daboll has grown into a top NFL game planner, play caller and will probably end up as some teams head coach after this season. A whisperer means he is a "special trainer", someone with gentle vocal encouragement. That is not Daboll, who, before he went up in the booth used to yell at Allen. Let's not also forget that while Josh didn't have a veteran QB at his start in Buffalo, nor an actual QB coach. Daboll went with Nathan Peterman over Allen that first game. Then, looking back Daboll called plays like he had an experienced, veteran QB behind center form day one. Peterman simply didn't have the arm to complete some of those outs that were called. Allen was getting killed that first season behind such a bad line and meanwhile the Bills led the league in deep pass attempts...with that horrid line that didn't allow deep drop backs. Once Daboll saw how well Allen could run once the pocket broke down he put in some designed QB runs. Don't get me wrong here as I think Brian Daboll is currently doing great as Bills OC. As for developing Josh Allen, I feel that Allen himself, Jordan Palmer, Romo and even current QB coach Ken Dorsey have done far more for what we all see from Allen on the field this season. Oh, and Diggs is THE best receiver in the NFL... he makes opposing DB's look foolish every week. Jukes them outta their cleats almost every play. Just think if Allen didn't have Brown, Beasley, Knox, Davis, Singletary, McKenzie to throw to Diggs might have even more receptions 111 for 1314 yards with two games to go. My lord this is one special player.
  8. I think so also. What is being underestimated here is how other teams are drooling over Josh Allen about now. Like John Elway isn't kicking himself that he took Chubb over Allen at #5 in 2018. Or for that matter all the teams that passed on Allen, Cleveland 2x. NY Giants, Jets, Tampa who traded the pick, INDY. Then, looking at what Allen was in 2018 vs what he looks like now is unbelievable. Brian Daboll is going to get a ton of credit for that development. His game planning, play calling. Most every team in the NFL wants their own Josh Allen, save perhaps KC, GB, Seattle. Daboll will be the hottest head coaching commodity on the market IMO. Nobody even close at this point. P.S. Robert Kraft would boot McDaniel's to the curb if he could get Daboll, IMO.
  9. I think he is gone no matter what at this point. Depending on how Buffalo finishes the season I think he will have his pick of teams. Even New England might be in play if Bill Belichick steps down IMO. Already looking. Houston Detroit Atlanta Not fired yet. Jacksonville NY Jets LA Chargers Dallas Chicago Minnesota I gotta wonder how Belichick is feeling about now...6-8...outside...looking in for the first time since 2008... SB/MVP QB Cam Newton in tow.
  10. There is draft talk that both Justin Fields (Ohio St) and Zach Wilson (BYU) are both gonna go right after Lawrence. Trey Lance (North Dakota ST) also looks like a first round prospect, perhaps to NE.
  11. WELP...so much for worrying that Brian Daboll would go to the NY Jets. Jacksonville, yes. LA Chargers, yes. Houston, despite the lack of draft picks, yes. OH, there is also the rumor that the "chin" wants to coach the NY Jets. Yes, Bill Cowher...and doubtful now.
  12. Funny stuff...frustration from not winning hits players differently
  13. I think he would be a fool to take a job with the armpit of the NFL in the NY Jets. Despite the draft picks or Trevor Lawrence. I'd think Houston would be more attractive with Watson at QB or Chargers with Herbert if that job becomes available. Jacksonville would also be more attractive with the #2 overall. IMO its the QB that will dictate where Daboll goes. Never count out NE if Bill steps down. Brian Daboll will have first choice to any job as it looks now. Atlanta- perhaps Houston- Yes IMO-the QB in Watson. Detroit-NO NY Jets-will be looking for new HC. He'd be a fool to take this job. Jacksonville-will be looking. Perhaps yes with Zach Wilson / Justin Fields Chicago-maybe HC gets fired-no Denver-maybe HC gets fired-no LA Chargers-maybe- yes, if it comes open Dallas-maybe they fire McCarthy- Yes to Dak Prescott
  14. That last drive would have been great against any good team. That last drive wasn't against a creampuff team. The thing is, the Bills did that against the #1 overall defense in the league. #1 in points allowed #3 in yards. The #1 defense for INTs, #2 sack leader in TJ Watt. #2 in passing yards allowed. Buffalo rolled over them like a 20 ton road grader...just awesome to behold!
  15. The thing that messed up Josh was that coming out of high school he was a 180lb 6'3'' scrawny kid that no big football college wanted to offer a scholarship. This prompted Allen to attend a junior college in which the late bloomer grew a bunch to 6'5'' 240 lbs and after two seasons at Junior he thought every big school would want him now. NOPE. So he sent out nearly 2k emails to colleges and only two responded and one rescinded once they found out he was talking to the other. Kind of unique situation. First, Allen grew up on a farm so he is no stranger to hard work as he was up at dawn and in the fields all day. I know I'd rather play football too. Second, if you watched Allen at Wyoming he was basically carrying the team to bowl games because they had a bunch of nobodies on the rosters. In fact his last season at Wyoming every player that had touched the ball on offense was gone. So he was dealing with a bunch of rookies. Allen had a burning desire to win and you could see it back then with his "hero ball". Josh Allen also scored a 37 on the wonderlic, same as Tony Romo. Tom Brady scored a 33, Peyton Manning a 28. Super smart, Jim Kelly tough. His HC at Wyoming used to gloat that no team could defend against Allen's arm as no spot on the field was safe. There was talk that Cleveland was going for Josh Allen #1 overall because of his physical skill. Every team knew Allen was raw and not ready to start. Let's not forget that someone released some derogatory remarks made by Allen while in high school and this might have made the Jets, Browns shy away from Allen. Those teams also wanted a QB who was more ready to start right away. Lucky us! If Allen had gotten into a big time college program like Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield or even Jackson he would have been the #1 overall no question about it. Probably rated like John Elway / Andrew Luck. Let me add the biggest concern with Allen were his accuracy issues and everyone would say... you can't fix that! Kyle Boller anyone? https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2018/03/mike_mayock_on_josh_allens_nfl.html "If you're John Dorsey with Cleveland at one and four, you've got to look at (Allen),'' Mayock said during the workout on NFL Network. "He can play indoors, outdoors, all 32 stadiums, cold weather, warm weather, big hands, big arm.''
  16. Tomlin saying that is some serious respect. Considering the Steelers are known for knocking other teams around and running the ball to weaken a defense. Times have changed! Although, you could see it in the third quarter as Steelers players were panting like dogs with their hand on their hips.... That reminded me of when the 90's Bills used to go down to Miami in that heat and out perform the Dolphins plays all game long. Simply very, very out conditioned those phins. Rusty Jones used to have the Bills one of the fittest teams in the NFL in that era. That last Buffalo drive 13 plays, 52 yards for 7:11 to not give Pittsburgh a chance at getting the ball back was just so awesome.
  17. I whole heartedly agree. Although, all those other components have helped develop Allen into a top five QB we see today. Beane building around his QB. Diggs, Beasley, Brown and even Davis. Coaches. Offensive line upgrades. A somewhat decent run game that the Bills simply don't utilize enough for them to get into any kind of rhythm as it takes a lot of carries to wear out opposing defenses. 2018 Buffalo leading receiver with 56 receptions WR Zay Jones is now a 4th string Raider. He caught like 54% of his targets. Kelvin Benjamin caught near 30% of his targets and is now washing car windows in some city. TE Charles Clay is somewhere helping Benjamin. Only guy still around from Allen's first season is Isaiah McKenzie. Robert Foster, Andre Holmes, Logan Thomas, Marcus Murphy, Ray Ray McCloud, Jason Croom...poof. I gotta admit it that I wasn't sold on Bills OC Brian Daboll at all. But, I now think Allen has grown into running his offense. Daboll has learned and grown as an NFL OC right along with Allen. Last years Ravens game the Bills had no answer for all the blitzing, 50% to start and they stepped it up to 65% when the saw Buffalo couldn't stop them. This past game against the #1 Steeler defense with a top pass rush the Bills made adjustments at the half that allowed Allen to do his thing...only one sack and a mostly clean pocket vs 6 sacks and harnessed all game against Baltimore. It's a team game...and man what a team! I highly doubt that. I would have dreaded Allen going anywhere other than Buffalo... Cleveland, NY, Arizona as I still think he would have developed into a good QB anyplace. Lord, If he had fallen to Baltimore like Jackson...
  18. Why, they will ruin him just as they ruined Darnold. They ONLY way Lawrence gets a chance to become a franchise QB is if the fire the entire coaching staff and perhaps the GM. Then hire a great head coach / GM. Not easy to do when you look at Dallas, Detroit and other teams floundering for years.
  19. Just think, the Bills are one miracle hail-mary play from being 11-2. They are also 6-1 at home. Sat @ 5-8 Denver Mon @ 6-7 New England Sun in Buffalo snow an cold 8-5 Miami ...all very winnable games. 8-5 Miami plays, NE, Raiders, Bills 11-2 Pittsburgh plays, Cincy, Indy, Cleveland 9-4 Tennessee plays Lions, Packers, Texans 9-4 Colts plays, Texans, Steelers, Jags 8-5 Ravens plays, Jags, Giants, Bengals 12-1 Chiefs plays, Saints, Falcons, Chargers
  20. What a stark difference between the second half adjustments in this Steelers game vs last seasons Baltimore game in which there were none. Allen was continuously pummeled in that Ravens game and Baltimore actually stepped up their blitzing frim 50% to 65% because the Bills had no answer for it. That Ravens game the Bills attempted some deep throws that didn't connect around 4-5 times and that was all they had to deter the Ravens blitz. This game the Bills actually doubled Steelers DT Cameron Hayward and chipped OLB TJ Watt as this gave Allen the time needed to make throws...to world beater Diggs. Kudos to the Buffalo offensive brain trust as they made the proper offensive changes that helped beat the 11-1 Steelers and their #1 defense with their top pass rusher in Watt. I'm very impressed by the improvements in the Bills offensive line and defense as the season goes on. It shows that the coaches are learning and developing as well as the players. Great stuff! Yea, Dabs works. Allen's nickname I think.
  21. I agree, kept Allen clean all night. One sack
  22. I used to point out every misdeed by Jauron...who never got his Tampa two defense right by never finding the players to run it. Not that he didn't try...hello Aaron Maybin...#11 overall. My complaining endlessly about the OCs and O lines. Turk Schonert, Alex Van pelt to Nate Hackett with his run play calls right up the middle. I pointed out endless Buddy Nix's / Chan Gailey gaffes / miss steps. Gaileys choices for DC's in George Edwards, Dave Wannstedt. Trading away Marshawn and drafting a "waterbug"...when the team was desperate for a LT. (isn't Jason Peters still playing 12 years later?) trading up for TJ Graham. The Whaley pick for QB in EJ. Other posters used to comment on my posting and my complaining about what the FO is always doing wrong. Mostly what I read here was that the current roster for whatever year was the best we've had in the longest time. From HC's like Jauron, Gailey, Marrone, Ryan. From GM's like Marv Levy, Russ Brandon, Buddy Nix, Doug Whaley. Great drafts, great rosters, great players. Yeah, sure. I think I received the most grief from other posters about my calling out Rex Ryan after his second game as Bills HC. This after Buffalo dominating the Colts and Andrew Luck with a relentless pass rush in his first game, week one 2015. The very next week the defensive game plan against NE was all wrong and Brady ripped him a new one for it. 38 of 59 for 466 yards, 3 TDs. Instead of allowing the best defensive line in the league do their thing and...you know...rush the passer. He asked them to hold their position and at times drop into pass coverage so the Bills LBers could make plays. Those awesome all pro Bills LBers in Nigel Bradham, Manny Lawson, Preston Brown and Jerry Hughes (who had just arrived in Buffalo because the Colts GM called Whaley as he didn't like Polian's last first round choice in Hughes and wanted him gone. Lucky us. Anyway, with every post that I made pointing out what Rex Ryan had done wrong... all I got back was how out of touch I was... and Ryan will get the team winning very soon. Sure, as with all the boneheaded choices for head coaches the last two decades or so. I'm not complaining anymore, at least not about the HC/FO. The offensive line, yes. Still not good enough for me and might never be as I want the #1 unit in the league or darn close to it. (I'll continue to complain, except about #76). Guys, remember! This regime made the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor at QB in 2017!! Then, this GM got a 3rd round pick for him in trading him away. My lord, that's some serious awesomeness right there! The Buffalo Bills have FINALLY found a decent HC / GM / QB and some Bills fans simply refuse to enjoy the winning. Week 14, currently 9-3 and in the hunt for a division title since 1995! I'm ecstatic and enjoying the ride...as with most Bills fans. A great time to be a Buffalo Bill fan!
  23. In kinda feel bad for anyone that can't seem to let go of the past to look forward to what should be a very bright future for this franchise. I also seem to recall some Bills fans back in 2018 questioning if McD should remain the HC after losing a playoff game. Some people are just that way... and simply can't find happiness in stages of success. Nevermind that Tyrod Taylor was the QB in 2017 when the Bills made the playoffs. Nevermind that the 2nd year QB that some said was a certain bust and rated him a 3rd round pick that didn't win a playoff game. Good lord, after watching the Bills destroy that 49ers #5 defense on MNF, it was emotionally uplifting to see the Buffalo Bills play that way. Thinking that if they can continue to play that well they could go all the way. And if not, I can see that they are close to winning it all very soon. To Brandon Beane.
