  1. I don't see it that way. This owner is hands off and the GM, HC are both really good now. The problem with Luck was that he was so beaten up by the time Reich got there he just wanted out. Darn shame too as they probably would have won a SB or two. The Colts get a top QB and look out AFC. JMO
  2. Going into that Buffalo game the Falcons defense was last in the NFL in sacks and near last against the run, 29th in points allowed, 26th in yards. The NY Jets defense was 32nd in both yards, points allowed. I don't get why the Buffalo offense had so much trouble moving the ball, scoring in the first half of both games against such bad defenses. I'm hoping the Bills OC was avoiding running his best strategies going into these two garbage teams and holding out his best for the playoffs.
  3. I wouldn't get my hopes up. If he had a decent interview I'd think he be the HC of the Chargers right now. Dolphins-Bears and Jags-Raiders-Broncos-Vikings are also looking for a new HC. https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-coaching-gm-tracker-latest-news-interviews-developments-in-2022-hiring-cycle Interesting stuff. According to this link, Daboll is the only guy being considered for the Miami job atm.
  4. Three words...Six to Nine! There was a point in this season in which it was noted that McD was talking about his OC the very same way he talked about Rick Dennison in the 2017 season. The Bills lost to the Jags 6-9, were blown out by the Colts 15-41 and lost to the Patriots at home in a windstorm to an offense that only threw 3 passes, 10-14! Mostly because this OC kept getting caught up in throwing the ball all game... instead of what it will take to exploit the team/defense he is facing. Keep passing and when that doesn't work...keep passing. It's also been noted that this OC has finally started using the RBs in the run game more and it's been somewhat successful. Suddenly, we Bills fans are no longer claiming we need a better O line, need a better lead RB. If this were happening all season... then this thread would have no merit. Look at this recent Jets game! The Buffalo offense was stumbling big time for a lot of that game and this was against a 4-12 team with the 32nd ranked defense, 30th in passing yards allowed. WTH! At times this OC doesn't see what's working and what isn't working. WR Gabe Davis against the Jets, 14 targets, 3 receptions for 39 yards. Yes, the Bills finally scored 14 points in the 4th quarter to put some distance to win 27-10. This was a very close game for quite a awhile and it took a historically dominant defensive game play to keep the Bills in this game. Buffalo Bills defense, NINE sacks on the Jets rookie QB Wilson, who went 7 of 20 for 87 yards all game. The Jets run game went 17 rushes for 48 yards. Because of those 9 Buffalo sacks the Jets only had 5 net passing yards all game! 53 total yards of offense by the Jets! Bills fans should be worried about this OC and if he has the proper game plan to beat the Patriots. Ya know what is funny / odd? You don't hear much about Brian Daboll's name being bandied about as a new HC hire when so many teams are looking. Just think, GB OC Nathanial Hackett is generating more interest...
  5. Took him longer to figure out how to defeat the cover 2 shell defense. With all the talent in this Buffalo receiver corps... you would think we would see continued improvement / innovation in the passing offense. Week 16 against NE, Lil dirty had 12 targets, 11 receptions for 125 yards, 1 TD. Awesome game. Then against Atlanta the very next week, 2 targets, 1 reception for 6 yards. Against the Jets this week, 1 target, 1 reception, 9 yards. Meanwhile, Gabe Davis, 14 targets, 3 receptions for 39 yards. I don't get it.
  6. Flores was pretty darn good considering he got stuck with Tua at QB. The Dolphins owner Ross has his nose into everything he shouldn't have it in. Miami went 10-6 last season with Fitz (4-3) and Tua (6-3) and just missed getting into the playoffs. Granted, there was a ton of strange happenings going on inside that building. Like the releasing the team captains. Benching Fitz when the team was winning... for Tua who struggled early. Various offensive coordinators over his three seasons. I'm kind of happy he is gone from Miami as any new HC will want to build the team his way... and that means changes to the coaching staff, players. Just what Tua needs is a new OC...
  7. The Dolphins fired a HC that swept the NE Patriots after going 9-8 this year. Man, that phins owner is a complete moron! They went on a 7 game tear only losing to the #1 seed Titans in their final 8 games. I suppose it doesn't matter that Tua only played in 12 of those 17 games going 7-5. I'm not crying because I don't see them hiring anyone better. This is typical dysfunction in the type of thing that screwed Buffalo for nearly 20 seasons. Hopefully it continues with the Jests, Phins. All we need now is for the cheater to retire.
  8. Years ago, a reporter walked into the locker room after a practice and asked the receivers why they had all these little X's on their chests. The retort was, that's just John being John. John Elway was always throwing with force and the receivers simply learned to catch those fastballs. I don't recall those Bronco receivers not being able to catch everything thrown their way. No reason why the Bills receivers can't learn to catch everything too, in any conditions. Coaching.
  9. I agree with this mostly because the Bills OC started to do it again against the Falcons...just keep throwing...just keep throwing! In that first Buffalo drive, 14 passes, 8 incomplete, one called run by Singletary, 2 runs by Allen, one for a TD. Allen did a lot of the running in that first half and ended the game with 15 carries for 81 yards. Why... is...the... Buffalo... QB... running... this... much!!! Yes, Josh took over this game by running. This against a near worst NFL defense, 29th in points allowed, 24th in yards. Atlanta is 32nd in team sacks in 2021. I have no faith that when both the Buffalo pass game and run game falter that the Bills OC won't continue to just keep calling for pass plays. Yes, Singletary was effective in this game. That was against a team near last in rushing yards allowed, 26th. I have faith in Josh Allen to do his best. I have faith in the Buffalo defense to do their best. The game plans and play calls, no, not so much!
  10. All I can say is... put this, along with a lot of other issues on the direct shoulders of the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator. The man had a terrible record as an NFL OC before he got to Buffalo! And Allen, with all his elite skills has made Brian Daboll look somewhat decent. Let's not forget that this is the man that thought Nathan Peterman was a viable starter against the Ravens in 2018. Sent him out there to get destroyed! Daboll had no plan against that fierce Baltimore pass rush, not in 2018 6x sacks for Peterman, Allen, and again in 2019 6x sacks Allen. If not for Allen and his unique running ability, toughness, brains and overall elusiveness...he might have ended up on a dumpster heap like so many Cleveland Browns QB's have...super star arm aside. All I can say is, week 9, to lose to the 1-6 Jacksonville Jaguars 6-10 (worst team in the NFL that NE just pasted with a 50 burger) with the 30th ranked defense who sacked Josh Allen 4x!!! Only 9 rushes by Buffalo RBs that game with the QB throwing 47 times... QB having difficulty passing in a game...just keep throwing! Yep, this team has a weakness alright.
  11. Even if Newton had never been injured... he isn't, wasn't, hasn't been nearly as good as Allen is as a passer...and never has... 10 seasons in the NFL and Newton has had only four seasons at 60% passing or above. Out of those ten seasons he has had only 3 that were winning seasons 2013-2015-2017. His QB record is 69-60-1. His TDs, he has only one season with 30+ TD passes. In 2015 with 35 TDs, and the next season in 2016 went 6-8 with a 52.5 completion percentage, 19 TD passes. Newton threw for 4000 yards only once, his first season. Newton barley breaking 20 TD passes a season most of his career. Allen, in his four years in the league, 10 TDs, 20 TDs, 37 TDs respectively, and 34 already this year. Completion percentage, 52.8, 58.8, 69.2, 64.1 and we also know that Allen hasn't been one to take the check down pass until recently. Already 3 out of 4 winning seasons. 38-21 record. with two 4000 yard seasons. Lastly, If Allen had an OC who knew how to defeat a cover 2 shell defense (after being an NFL offensive coordinator for 12 years) and build a decent ground game enough to help take the offense off the QBs shoulders somewhat, Josh Allen would have been the NFL MVP this season. P.S. Yes, the Buffalo Bills have finally found a run game the last few games and finally figured out how to work to defeat a cover 2 shell. Why did it take most of the season to figure this out?
  12. I don't look at them that way. Should the Bills get the lead and hold it, that would force the Colts to throw...and Wentz is not an elite "come from behind" QB. Use their own way they beat the Patriots against them. OTOH, should the Bills get down against them in a rematch, I think Allen has the tools and weapons to put up some good numbers against any team. They showed that in the second half of that Bucs game.
  13. You and me both brother! Going into the 3rd quarter, Cleveland's RB Nick Chubb had a 5.8 YPC avg, that with 10 carries and ended the game with a 4.8 YPC avg with only 12 carries. When you have a starting QB that dinged up and the highest paid backup in the league...why not sit the starter and play the backup?? Not only that, why not run the ball down the Steelers throats?? It was like the Bills OC was running that offense this week. Or, as others pointed out...perhaps the HC wanted to point out the flaws in the current starting QB... that he isn't worthy of a big contract. That the team may need to draft a QB again in the first round in the 2022 NFL draft? Curiouser and curiouser!
  14. Like I stated, "lies, damned lies and statistics." Not to mention... that Josh Allen running for the end zone with the ball in his hands certainly would not have been downed by a knee a yard from the EZ... AND, he wouldn't have gotten a 15 yard penalty for taunting which pushed the team back 15 yards. "I'll say that Allen was a more effective QB than Matt Ryan." As would I, as would I.
  15. There are three kinds of lies, lies, damned lies and statistics. Three things happen when you throw a football and two are bad. IMO Allen was mad about his passing performance and took it out by running it right at the Falcons. Allen Passing, 11 of 26 for 120 yards, 3 INTs Allen Rushing, 15 carries 81 yards a 5.4 YPC avg. 2 rushing TDs. The Bills won...so, who cares about the stats...as others have pointed out Allen's poor passing performance finally had the OC work the run game more to counter the lousy passing...it worked! About time too... considering the Bills might need to run the ball more in inclement weather conditions again. Balance works on offense! Finally Singletary with a 100 yard rushing game!!! 23 rushes for 110 yards, 2 rushing TDs, a 4.8 YPC avg. Funny thing... nobody whining about how the Bills need a better O line and better RBs after this game. The thing is, RB's tend to play better the more they run the ball...that, over the past sporadic play calling of 10 or so carries a game by a RB.
  16. I keep hearing about Tomlin...when was that 2019? Rudolph 5-3, Hodges 3-3. The Steelers went 8-8 that season. Yet, Tomlin has had Big Ben most of his entire tenure as HC of the Steelers. Let's see what he does without Ben. Both Cowher and Tomlin have been Steelers HC for 15 years each. Tomlin 240 games 153-85-2. Cowher, 240 games 149-90-1, he did it with QB's like Tommy Maddox, Kordell Stewart, Mike Tomczak, Neil O'Donnell, Big Ben his last three seasons. They both took their teams to two SB's and each won one and lost one. Both with 11 winning seasons.
  17. Chubb is averaging 5.8 yards per carry and he only has 10 rush attempts so far...
  18. #1 overall pick Baker Mayfield literally stinks...5 of 17 for 65 yards, 1 INT. Can't run, can't throw, can't read the coverage. 2800 passing yards on the season, 13 games going 6-7, 15 TDs, 11 INTs Makes me so glad the Browns passing on Josh Allen not once, but twice at #1 & #4 overall. RB Nick Chubb, that O line 2018 7-8-1 2019 6-10 2020 11-5 and paper tigers who were supposed to get to the super bowl in 2021. If only they had a QB worth a crap. Backup Case Keenum is a better QB. currently 7-8 and looking to go 7-9. wonder if they draft a QB in the first round this year?
  19. This is what should have happened every single time the QB has great difficulty passing in a game. Every...single...time!! Guess what? Suddenly the crappy Buffalo O line and RBs are good enough to win games. The OC simply needs to do his job properly in setting up a decent run scheme and call more run plays... instead of just keep calling pass plays that aren't working.
  20. What's crazy to me was scoring only 6 points against a 1-6, 30th ranked defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars losing 6-10. Literally no excuse to lose a game like this. At the half some serious changes should have taken place. Alas, the Bills didn't score a single point in that second half... FG, FG, punt, punt, INT, INT, punt, fumble, downs. Only 9 rushes by the Bills RBs, 47 pass attempts, 4 sacks on Allen. The Titans game was a good close game and anything can happen in a game like that. That Jags game will haunt me if the Bills falter in getting to the big game this season.
  21. Gee, wonder if the Giants are thinking they really screwed up not drafting Allen with that #2 overall. But then, I can only imagine that Cleveland who passed on him TWICE at #1 & #4, the NY Jets at #3 chose Darnold. The Broncos at #5 chose Chubb, the Colts at #6 chose Nelson are all thinking that way... all of them need a top QB. Most of the Buffalo fan base wanted Josh Rosen and were begging Beane to give up the farm to trade up with the NY Giants to the #2 spot to draft him... In any event, no way for Barkley! Build the O line to better protect Josh and help the run game.
  22. Good stuff as usual Virgil. My take is that something clicked during the halftime of that Bucs game and this team simply hasn't been the same since. Perhaps it was McD placing his foot repeatedly in certain spots. Perhaps it was the team knowing that they were better then they showed in that first half (embarrassed)and came out fighting and haven't stopped. I'd like to think that Josh Allen took the pro bowl snub to heart...but then, he played lights out in the second half of that Bucs game too. Allen is developing into a upper echelon superstar QB, like Montana, Rodgers. Took the check downs, throwaways, underneath routes. Took what the defense gave him...and gave that #1 Patriots defense all they could handle. Lil Dirty, what a game! Interesting that Frazier his changed out of his "nickle" scheme to replace the DBs with some run stuffers. WHAT? Nobody talking about how the Bills need to replace the RBs, O linemen this week? This game made my year so far and on par with Hoodie throwing the phone in last years game.
  23. Let's face it...this is the 2021 Buffalo Bills super bowl. No other game will have this much impact on their season with their hated division rivals. Last game against NE... Old smiley was actually smiling for the first time ever... and hugging his assistant coaches. eff that! I'd love to see a repeat of that 2020 game in NE... Besides, last weeks game might just be a precursor with Singletary rushing 22 times for 86 yards and 1 TD. I hope the Bills pound the rock against NE...40 times for 250+ yards. Both NE RBs are hurting.
  24. Considering that the Bills only scored 6 points against the 1-6 Jacksonville Jaguars who fielded the 30th ranked defense at the time...I'm happy the Bills won! I'm also happy New England lost to the Colts this weekend. I'll be elated should the Bills beat the Patriots IN New England next weekend.
  25. Love to see the Patriots lose!!
