  1. When you add a player like CMC you take away touches from the current stars on the Buffalo offense. Last game, Diggs, 10 receptions for 148 yards, 1 TD. Davis, 3 for 74 yards, 1 TD, Knox 3 for 37, 1 TD. With Singletary finally getting a decent amount of carries in this game, 17 for 85 yards, a 5.0 YPC AVG. If the Bills had an ordinary franchise QB behind center a trade for an elite RB might make sense...they don't! The Bills have an "alien unicorn" who does things the entire NFL world marvels at...he can hurtle tall defenders in a single bound! Give Cook time to develop and there will be no need for CMC is my take...a younger, healthier, faster player. CMC 4.48-40. Cook 4.42-40. JMO
  2. I can't recall that I've ever heard of, or have seen a QB work as hard to perfect his craft as Josh Allen. He knew when he was being evaluated for the draft what his faults were and was working on them at that time. Josh was working with Jordan Palmer before the 2018 NFL draft and he continues to work with Palmer to perfect his craft every offseason since. It was more Palmer working on his mechanics. How smart is Josh Allen? He scored a 37 on the NFL Wonderlic. What does that score mean? https://wonderlictestpractice.com/wonderlic-test-scoring/ A score in the 98th percentile or above qualifies a person for Mensa membership. Make no mistake, Brian Daboll was brilliant in certain aspects of being an NFL OC! His game planning and setting up the passing scheme against opponents was remarkable at times. Then again, he had some flaws as he would get overly pass happy at times, even when Josh was under extreme duress and had great difficulty in completing passes. While also sometimes ignoring the run game altogether. Daboll certainly helped Josh learn how to read NFL defenses and run an NFL offense. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEfF6ceLkp8&ab_channel=NFL I'm just so grateful that Cleveland 2x, the NY Jets passed on Josh. Not to mention Indy, Denver, NY Giants.
  3. Two words....Don "Wink" Martindale. NY Giants DC is doing a good job with that defense. Daboll is doing is also doing a good job with the team as HC. Assistants are a big reason why teams play well or not. Gotta wonder if ole Wink is being missed in Baltimore? Lets not forget that his OC is Mike Kafka who was the KC Chiefs QB coach. P.S. Josh Allen "that alien unicorn" would make Nathaniel Hackett look good.
  4. All I gotta say is...can he play OG? Defense wins Championships! Plus, I'd rather pay Poyer!
  5. Classic "trap game" that the Bills are supposed to dominate. You know... kinda like the Jags game last season in getting beaten by the team with the very worst record in the NFL. It still makes me wonder how such a bad team beat the Bills 6-9...really, only 2 FGs on offense? Anyway, they could be overlooking the Steelers for the Chiefs next week and if that's the case they will lose both games. They need to keep in mind that EVERY win counts! Home Field!
  6. Currently the 2022 Buffalo Bills are 20th in rushing attempts, 12th in rush yards, 20th in rush TDs. Mostly because the Bills QB leads the team in rushing yards with 183, 2 TDs. Singletary, 34 rush attempts for 129 yards, a 3.8 YPC AVG. Singletary also has 17 receptions for 141 yards, 1 TD. He has 2.1 rush yards before contact per rush attempt. Cincy RB Joe Mixon, 82 attempts, 224 yards, a 2.7 AVG Buc's RB Leonard Fournette, 60 attempts, 224 yards, a 3.7 AVG GB RB AJ Dillion, 57 attempts, 211 yards, a 3.7 AVG. STEELERS RB, Najee Harris, 57 attempts, 202 yards, a 3.5 AVG My take is that even as injury plagued as the Bills have been on that line they are still pretty good and will show better the more they run the ball. Usually, your simply not going to get really good production from a lead RB with only 8-11 attempts per game.
  7. This entire board was saying the team needed a new RB in the draft...right up until Singletary was being used more often in the run game later in the season last year. It started the week after the Bucs loss and in the week 15 Carolina game. Singletary, a measly 4 attempts in that Bucs loss to 22 rush attempts for 86 yards, one TD against the Panthers. Skip the win against NE and go to the week 17 Atlanta game, Singletary, 23 rushes for 110 yards, two TDs. Week 18, NY Jets Singletary 19 rushes for 88 yards, one TD. The Patriots playoff game Singletary 18 rushes for 81 yards, two TDs. A funny thing happens when you hand off to the starting RB around 20 times a game. The O linemen love to literally throw their weight at opposing defensive players over attempting to hold their ground in pass blocking. The more they run block the more effective it usually is... The RB usually starts getting into a rhythm and becomes better at finding the holes and making opponents miss the more attempts he gets. Usually the more a team runs the ball the more the opposing defense starts to wear down too. Rams, Singletary, 8 carries. Titans, Singletary, 6 carries. Miami, Singletary, 9 carries. Ravens, Singletary 11 carries. The 49ers are so good at running the ball because they really work at it. Seems like they can plug in any RB into their scheme and get good production. Now that the Bills are dealing with so many injuries to their receiving corps it might be wise to get that run game going. On another note: The KC Chiefs just ran it 37 times for 189 yards, two TDs against a really good Bucs defense. Winning 41-31. Balanced teams are tough to beat. Two words! Home Field!
  8. Looking at the Miami, Cincy game the Bengal's had great difficulty running on the Dolphins to the tune of only 2.2 YPC AVG. Kudos to the Phins defense as the Buffalo line might not be as bad as we think.
  9. I don't get it! It seemed like so many Bills fans here were posting about how much better the run game and O line will be with the new line coach, Kromer? Was supposedly a big upgrade. The run game with the RBs was working well at the end of last season and the line did a really good job in pass blocking, protecting Allen. The Bills RBs are more than good enough to get the job done as they showed last season. I get that by the end of the Miami game they had O line 3rd stringers out there. But, like you stated the line couldn't block to save their lives early on. The run game suffered because the RB's had no holes and were getting tackled as soon as they touched the ball. 2018 all over again... I know Josh Allen is a unicorn and you want the ball in his hands as much as possible. Still, in order to be a balanced team they need to find a way to get that run game going as there might be games like the Jags game last season in which the QB was under so much duress he had no time to throw! Or a windstorm like that Patriots game. The Bills do play in Buffalo and at the end of the season should they get home field... it would really stink to lose at home because they can't run it in the snow. They had better get the run game fixed.
  10. I really, really hate 63 passing attempts while wearing out the entire Buffalo skill players on an oppressively hot, humid day. I had thought this sorta crap was gone to NYC with Daboll...is this new OC attempting to put a saddle on Josh Allen to ride him into becoming a HC somewhere next year? Will the Buffalo receivers, QB even be recovered well enough to compete against the Ravens in Baltimore on Sunday? Some players were throwing up, some had duel IV's they were so dehydrated. Does being up in a air conditioned box watching the game insulate the OC from comprehending what was happening on the field that day? Where the hell was the run game by the running backs again this week? Why is the Buffalo QB the leading rusher again? Bills GM Brandon Beane brought in a great run blocking OG from the Titans in Rodger Saffold. The Bills draft a stud elusive RB in James Cook in the second round in last Aprils draft and hardly utilize him? On a day where the Buffalo run game could have spared Buffalo the loss by wearing out the Miami defense. Yes, the Dolphins were keying on Singletary and holding him to a 1.4 YPC AVG. Zack Moss did break a big run and if that had been Cook it would have been a TD. One carry by Cook, one carry by McKenzie, 4 carries by Moss. 15 carries all game by Buffalo RBs...yet 63 pass attempts!! Buffalo time of possession 40:20 to Miami 19:40. Miami sat in the shade while the Bills roasted in the sun...with no air coolers too. A lot to dislike about this game.
  11. Agree with the whole post! Take QB Josh Allen out of the equation and what kind of a team do you have? A bad team with a decent defense that would be worn out every game by being on the field so often. Clearly the Buffalo Bills can't run and don't even really much try besides the QB. Allen being their leading rusher the last two games. This needs to change. Any one of a half dozen things go the Bills way and they win that game.
  12. I can recall seeing those late 80's, early 90's Buffalo Bills go down to Miami in that stifling heat and outplay the Dolphins players. Those phins players would be heavily panting with their hand on their hips and Buffalo would be killing them with the hurry up offense! Marv used to say "when its to tough for them, its just right for us!" Good ole Bills trainer Rusty Jones and his conditioning techniques. Anyway, Buffalo had time of possession for 40:40 vs 19:20. With 63 offensive pass attempts the Buffalo offensive skill players were gassed from running all over while being on the field so much in that heat, QB too. Fun fact, Drew Bledsoe did have 70 pass attempts in a 1994 game against Minnesota. 70 is the most ever in the NFL.
  13. While I've always been an advocate for building the very best offensive line in the league and would love to see the Buffalo Bills with a line of all pros, pro bowlers. (I know, keep dreaming) That said, Buffalo has had good line play and at the end of last season they looked very good In both running and pass blocking. I do believe I saw some actual pancakes at times. I would agree that the current line is average at best. Not great, but not that bad either and not many teams have the depth that Buffalo currently has on that line. I think Brandon Beane has done a masterful job on building this team and it shows in every aspect. It is far easier for offensive linemen to run block over pass blocking (and they have a beast of a run blocker in OG Rodger Saffold)(Bills GM Brandon Beane brought in a really, really good run blocker) Mostly because they know where they are going and can put all their massive weight into opponent rather then trying to hold their ground. As @HappyDays mentioned the 49ers are a really good running team... and they are because they really work at it. The led the league in rush attempts in 2021. Practice does make perfect and in order to be good at something they need to practice it until they can own it. Buffalo is a passing team and they are really good at that. However, when teams (like the 2021 Jacksonville Jaguars) are shutting down the Buffalo passing game by putting so much pressure on the QB. The Bills need to work that run game so they aren't one dimensional. Like I said, the Buffalo offense did very well in running the ball near the end of last season. So many Bills fans were calling for drafting better RBs for a lot of the 2021 season. Yet Singletary showed us he is more than good enough to get the job done. Moss is good. Cook is good. The Bills OC just needs to get back to what was working at the end of last season and not give up on the run game if it doesn't produce right away.
  14. Funny thing, It wasn't the injury depleted defense that most were concerned about that lost that game! Buffalo down six defensive starters and then lost rookie CB Benford to a hand injury. In that oppressive Miami heat wouldn't it have been wiser to find a way to run the ball more with the RBs to wear out the opposing defense? The Buffalo RBs do get paid to...you know...run the ball. Using toss sweeps, end arounds, misdirection plays to have the Dolphins defensive players needing to keep running sideline to sideline to make a tackle? By the fourth quarter that Miami defense is worn down and more susceptible to play action and the run game. Yes, Miami was keying on Singletary and only allowing a 1.4 YPC AVG. The Bills still had Zack Moss and James Cook to work that run game. Because of all the injuries to the Bills offensive line the Buffalo QB was under duress most of the game. Four sacks, two fumbles. Buffalo QB Josh Allen was amazing as he accounted for 447 of the Bills 497 offensive yards. ToP 40:40 to 19:20. Buffalo 497 offensive yards vs 212. Clearly the Miami players were more accustomed to the heat and yet players on both teams were cramping and limping off the field, needing IV's and oxygen. My take is the Buffalo OC simply wore out his offensive skill players with those 63 passes and by the end of the game they were exhausted both mentally and physically...QB included. This was on the coaching IMO. The guy is a rookie OC... so I suspect he will learn.
  15. So, what happens when the passing game is going nowhere? Do they stop passing because it was going nowhere? Or would an OC usually try and find a way to make things work?
  16. 63 pass attempts is downright ridiculous to ask a QB to throw in one game... This OC put the entire game on the QB's shoulders. That is on the OC!
  17. I agree with this take! Plus, Man, I used to complain about Daboll calling too many pass plays and Dorsey took it to a different level today. 63 passing attempts...yes, 63! Meanwhile 15 run play calls to the RBs. Josh Allen led the team in rushing again this week with 47 rushes on 8 carries. RB Zack Moss had 4 carries for 46 yards, a 11.5 YPC AVG. Singletary, 9 carries for 13 yards a 1.4 YPC AVG. Singletary was the leading receiver in catches and yards, 9 rec for 78 yards. Looking back to last season at how the Bills did so well with the run game you would think that would carry over to this season. Especially with a new O line coach. Situational awareness on offense was lacking all game and the offensive coordinator needs to find a way to get the running game working...and not just with the QB! The entire game was on the Buffalo QB shoulders...it...is...a...team...game!!! First ***** in the armor for the new Buffalo OC and it was a pretty big freaking *****!
  18. While the Bills rookie CB tandem is a concern to me. The greater concern for me is how that Bills will contain Aaron Donald. He got to Allen in their last meeting in 2020 causing and recovering a fumble. The Jags Josh Allen was in the Bills Josh Allen's face all game last season in week 9 and the result was a 6-9 loss. I recall the Patriots / Rams SB in which Donald had only one hit on Brady all game because they triple teamed him. This game will go on how well the Bills can keep their QB protected. If Josh has the time...I almost feel bad for the Rams...almost!
  19. Don't be the Cleveland Browns... The Buffalo Bills are not desperate for a punter! Distance the franchise from this media circus and eliminate any doubt about where this team stands on wrong behavior from players. Besides, a bigger story is the backup QB punting the ball well. 😋 JMHO
  20. While true for some games during the season. Steelers 16-23, Jaguars 6-9, Colts 15-41, Patriots 10-14. They also lost to Tennessee 31-34 and Tampa Bay 27-33 in OT. In particular that Jags game in scoring only 6 points against the worst team in the league over the last few years was inexplicable in my view. Four sacks, three turnovers. 12 penalties on Buffalo for 118 yards. Not to mention that it showed that Josh Allen can still be bullied by a strong pass rush. A great defensive effort by Jacksonville, a poor offensive effort by Buffalo. 9 rushes for 22 yards by Bills RBs... That Colts game though, 46 rushes for 264 yards, 4 TDs on the ground by Indy with 37:47 ToP vs 22:13 for Buffalo showed that they can play keep away from Allen. It also helped that Buffalo had 4 turnovers with 3 INTs, 1 fumble by Allen. The Patriots vs Buffalo in their first game, 46 rushes for 222 yards, 1 TD for NE. Granted this was in a windstorm in Buffalo. My concern here is based on the Bills will face many teams that will attempt to run the ball more often rather then face that top Buffalo defense against the pass that they had in 2021. Now with Von Miller in the fold it should be even more difficult for opponents to throw against Buffalo. Besides that, Miami with a new HC that is from the 49ers who was their run game coordinator in San Fran. The NY Jets with new RB Breece Hall and considering what Buffalo did to their rookie QB last season. They also face noted running teams in the Titans, Ravens, Steelers early on. We also know that NE has some good RBs. I don't ever want to see another game like that Colts game loss 15-41 with Carson Wentz at QB who only threw for 106 yards! Its my hope that Buffalo did enough in the off season to shore up that run defense. We should know early because the Bills face the Colts in the preseason, week one.
  21. It's easy for Bills fans to be very optimistic about the upcoming 2022 season as the Bills do have the best young QB in the league IMO. Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert are also right up there with the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes now. Me? I think Allen is the best after what the kid did to the Patriots in that playoff game...47-17. Wonder If the hoodie still thinks Allen is trash? Anyway, look closer at the Bills last season to realize that last years team really played very poorly in several games. That Jags 6-9 loss hits me first...how on many levels? The literal drubbing by the Colts 41-15 tells me that even though the Bills defense was statistically number one overall...they stuck it up big time many times during last season. Look who they beat last season to garner that #1 overall defensive ranking. WK 1)Loss to the Steelers 16-23. WK 2)The Dolphins by knocking out the starter in Tua and destroying backup Jacoby Brissett! WK 3)Beating Washington 43-21 because they faced backup QB Taylor Heinicke! WK 4)Houston with Davis Mills at QB, 40-0 rating of 23.4...like facing Nathan Peterman. WK 5) Chiefs 38-20 with Mahomes still reeling from that SB loss to the Bucs. WK6) Tennessee, close loss 31-34. WK 7) BYE WK Eight) Miami, Tua showing he was not ready to face a good team. WK 9) Jacksonville. 6-9 loss How the eff??? To a rookie QB who threw for 118 yards. WK 10) NY Jets with Mike White at QB...who? WK11) Indy Colts rushing 46 for 264 yards, 4 rushing TDs. Wentz threw for 106 yards!! WK12) NO Saints, Trevor Siemian at QB...who? threw for 163 yards WK 13) Patriots, loss to a rookie QB in Mac Jones who threw for 19 yards!!! WK 14) Bucs, 33-27 loss in OT Buffalo came alive in the second half. WK 15) Carolina, faced a washed up Cam Newton. who threw for 156 yards. WK 16) NE, the rookie again who threw for 145 yards. WK 17) Atlanta, sacked Matt Ryan 5x. WK 18) NY Jets with the real rookie QB starting in Zack Wilson who went 7 of 20 for 87 yards. sacked Zack 9x!! Buffalo finished 11-6...when they could have easily beaten the Jags and finished 12-5 like Tenn, KC. Or, if Tremaine Edmunds isn't alone on pass coverage against Bucs WR Breshad Perriman. Josh doesn't slip against Tenn. Buffalo lost the opener to Pittsburgh that they should have won. That #1 defense doesn't look so hot after beating up on a bunch of scrub QBs all season. That #1 defense gave up 552 yards of offense to the Chiefs in that playoff game. 2022 opponents, Rams*, Titans*, Dolphins, Ravens, Steelers*, Chiefs*, Packers*, Jets, Vikings, Browns, Lions, Patriots*, Jets, Dolphins, Bears, Bengals*, Patriots*. Much tougher schedule with no rookie QBs with 8 of 17 games against 2021 playoff teams. Buffalo had better be much better at stopping the run as so many of the teams they face will try and do what the Colts did to Buffalo last season.
  22. Did the OP somehow miss the last two games against NE last season? In particular that playoff game in which the Buffalo QB played a perfect game in beating those clowns 47-17. Josh Allen 21 of 25 for 308 yards passing, 5 TDs. Many sites have the Patriots falling into irrelevance for 2022. https://www.nfl.com/news/bold-predictions-for-2022-nfl-season-pats-fall-into-irrelevance-derek-carr-leads He lost his OC to the Raiders and his old DC will be calling the offensive plays...this might just be the cheaters last season as HC.
  23. Things I'm concerned about with the Bills roster. #1. CB's. In the opener, will the Bills secondary be up to handle that Rams receiver group led by Cooper Kupp? Will Tre White be healthy and at 100% as he is listed as questionable to start that game. Will the rookie be starting on the other side? 3 rookies, Kaiir Elam, Griffin, Benford, 4 two year players, Tim Harris, Dane Jackson, Cam Lewis, Nick McCloud. Teron Johnson 5 years exp. Kinda scary when you think that the other starting CB is now a Steeler and White might not be ready. #2. OL. The way that O line finished the season they looked very stout. So, I can see why the reluctance to draft early for that unit. RT Spencer Brown is currently listed as questionable to start the season as he had surgery this off season. Depth is an issue as one more concussion for starting center Mitch Morse might be his last.(has had 6 so far?) Back up LG Boettger had an Achilles issue and might not be ready for the season. I know I'd feel better if this unit had some better players with better depth. That week 9 Jacksonville Jaguars game irritates me with that Buffalo offense being held to only 6 points all game. Josh Allen running for his life, 2 INTs, 4 sacks and the offense stymied. Bills couldn't run either with Singletary 2.7 YPC, Moss 2.0 YPC. This against the worst team in the NFL! The Bills line had problems with other teams too. Steelers, Colts and that Patriots first game. A better, more dominant O line and they can run more effectively when the pass isn't working or running it to setup the pass. Will Beane bring in a vet CB? Any still out there?
  24. Look what Brandon Beane and McD have built in Buffalo...an awesome championship team!! A team that has been in the playoffs 4 of the 5 last seasons. This after not seeing the playoffs since 1999. In 2020 the Buffalo Bills won 2 playoff games against the Colts, Ravens. So, you let go McD for whatever reason. Who do you plan to replace him with? What if Beane were to follow him to wherever he ends up? What then? On a different note: Let's look at the Dallas Cowboys for an example. Dallas HC Jimmy Johnson built the Cowboys into super bowl contender after HC Tom Landry went 3-13 in 1988. Yes, there were some growing pains for a few seasons for the Boys, but by 1992-1993 the Cowboys had won 2x SB's (at the Bills expense) The teams owner, Jerry Jones got it into his head that "he" was the one who built those great teams and he and HC Johnson had a falling out. Yes, that Cowboys team with Aikman at QB was good enough to win 2x more SBs with Barry Switzer at HC. Now, look what's happened to that franchise since, 6 head coaches, 26 seasons, 11 playoff appearances and NOT ONE playoff win in all that time.
  25. Some of you need to realize that Kansas City head coach Andy Reid has been an NFL HC since 1999! Through 1999-2012 with Philly. 2013 though 2022 with Kansas City. Yea that's right, 23 years. 14 seasons with Philly, 9 with Kansas. SB 2x with KC one win, one loss. One SB appearance and loss with the eagles and it took 6 seasons to get there. Reid W/L record as an NFL HC 23 years. Philly .583-KC .710-Total .633 McD 5 seasons as NFL HC, W/L 49/32 .605 It's only going to get better as the Buffalo Bills NOW have one of the very best franchise QB's in the NFL! Great offense, good defense. One season with Tyrod Taylor at QB and the rest with developing a rookie in 2018. Simply look at the success of this team recently...my lord! In his 5 seasons as HC the Buffalo defense has been near top 5 three times. McD and Beane inherited a freaking mess of a team that was in cap hell with not so much talent. Wrex Ryan had wrecked that #1 defense. Yea, I'm not happy about that 13 seconds either as Buffalo had a 92%+ chance of winning that game at the kick off. They screwed it up for sure. I'm not happy about that Jaguars game either with a 6-9 loss to the worst team in the NFL. The Colts game still irritates me, 264 yards, 4 TDs on the ground. Buffalo could have had home field and a home playoff game last season. Let's hope that things don't repeat and the coaching staff learned from the mistakes. Bills fans should be embracing a very bright future for this franchise... that is staying in Buffalo!
