Annual PSA about the Bills’ cut-down to 53…
YattaOkasan replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
PUP was never “on the team” and now IR can be designated to return without the gymnastics of making the team. Good PSA though -
Joe Marino’s All 22 from Bucs preseason game
YattaOkasan replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah he’s gotta drop the knee too much horizontal displacement. I assume that’s what they said. I missed this game but he is a homer run or strike out player. It’s great or terrible. Hope they can get him sorted like they did with Josh and it’s more good than bad. -

It was a funny number and this place has been a bit wild lately. Sorry for the pile on. -
But I told you 3 top 5 players (and 1 top 10) at their position that he drafted and you dismissed it. 3 of those 4 players are at premium positions. That’s not a lack of elite talent. You’re acting like we’re some middling team and not one of the most successful teams in the league the past 5 years. I’m not sure he’s an elite talent evaluator. But he’s def good. As to Elam versus Benford clearly there’s something all teams missed with regard to Benford and Elam is seemingly not doing terribly in Dallas. There are a lot of variable that can be hard to control for and it causes the great talent to be overlooked (ffs look at TB12).

So his later picks don’t count? You only get credit for first round picks? Draft is a projection game. Those with elite athleticism go earlier cause they project easier and have a higher probability of hitting (also floor/ceilings come into consideration). All that is a way to say yeah you’ll have good players that go late. Every GM passed up on these players multiple times. Do you hold that against them (every GM needing a corner must stink for missing CB). Your original point was no elite players from Beane (even went as far as saying no one believed Spencer brown was top 5). Beane isn’t perfect but he’s def top 10 if not top 5. Thanks. Love Spencer Brown. Dawkins is fun but I love watching Brown. He hooked me as a rookie against the dolphins when a DB was talking smack and he put his hand at his chin and acted like he couldn’t see him. Can’t wait to see his prime in the coming years.

lol these numbers. Is that why everyone is so grumpy? They think were paying Hamlin $7 mil? Were paying the whole room only like 10mil (prior to cuts). Probably only 8 after cuts. -
Not convinced well need a H2H tiebreaker for the Chiefs like other years. AFC West looks much improved and they were banging on the door last year.

I (and many others) trust Brandon Thorn to be one of the best OL talent evaluators. He listed him as #3 RT in the league. So I understand one of the most respected evaluators has him top 5. He also picked Josh Freaking Allen. Christian Benford also top 10 talent. Taron Johnson still top 10 and maybe top 5 (def was at his peak). I got to 3 top 5 players. 2 of those are at premium positions and has a top 10 at another premium position. Has he gotten top 10 at every premium position? No but he’s doing way better than you are giving credit for.

Sal said Tre walked up the tunnel to the locker room and back. If you don’t hear anything about other corners coming in then it’s likely Tre is ok. Also why would Samuel give us that good of a deal? SI has him projected to get 8-10 mill -
Did you listen to the Sal clip? Said he walked up the tunnel to the locker room and then back to practice. After that he got in the front seat of the cart to get a ride to the field house. Hoping this is a nothing major based on him walking around on it (particularly after the locker room).

I found the ones above. You can take this a reason to be scared for our secondary. TJ sanders immediately beats his man and Dart is able to get a TD....
-
Ill try to find some film for you but there has been quite a few flashes from our DL investments (Landon Jackson much less). TJ sanders did his move from attacking the B gap to getting pressure on the other A gap without there being a stunt. Walker has a great rep from the bears game where he reads the pin down and swims to make the play not be successful.

I have Solomon on the 53 again. Hes flashed in pass rush and plays ST (contributions that DE don't often make as much). I wouldnt trust him if i think theres any possibility of a run play but like him for his role so far. I do appreciate the overall analysis with regard to their experience. Something to keep an eye on but I think they often gravitate to players with more experience (senior bowl has always been a source of talent for example).

Does there need to be a rethinking of the basic D?
YattaOkasan replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dallas in 2023 is a very first good example. You also named a KC games. those also happened (i dont disagree the playoff point). This thread turned into the defense has never been good. Thats silly. I agree with that simple statement. And your final statement. Thats not what was said. The simple statement that WAS said is "but Beane (so far) hasn't been able to build a good defense either with the draft and FA." Thats categorically false. Yall like to say this place isnt hospitable people who have anything negative to say. This thread has become super hostile to someone who corrected a very overly negative comment. -

So you dont consider #1 in points and scoring "good". Do your thoughts about "padding stats" apply to 2019 as well? What about the other years with a top 10 defense for points and yards (again more than half the time). If you were to say he hasnt made an elite defense that gives you nothing in the playoffs then I wouldnt care. But that wouldnt fit your narrative. To say he hasnt put a "good" defense on the field is just silly. You clearly dont think there are more than 1-2 good defenses in any given year if you dont think he has put a good one out there.
