  1. Did it again in 96 too, no superbowl that year tho. The Pats loss was only by 3 too. Imagine the Patriots stomping our hearts even in the glory days,! !@#$ers
  2. This is a team that desperately needs FOCUS. I can only remember how I felt when the 2003 Bills went and acquired ''the keg'', Takeo Spikes, and Lawyer Milloy to join a team that was supposed to have a good offense. Just a tremendous disaster of epic proportions was that season after the great start. We also all remember what happened to the "Dream Team" Eagles of 2011 when they added those defenders. It's all about focus, and I think looking at this schedule I see no gimmies to speak of and even potential mine fields. If a roster like we have can play with their backs to the wall (even without an elite QB) then I like our chances. We're better as underdogs anyway.
  3. I hate almost everything about this schedule, including the fact that 3 out of 4 of the enclosing "home games'' are against !@#$in juggernauts! There doesn't seem to be a single hole in the schedule or even trap game. One thing about it that could be a plus is the fact that we can't afford to be the least bit complacent whatsoever. That will help a team that may view itself as talented a much needed focus. We all remember the "Dream-team" Eagles of 2011 and even the disaster that was the 2003 Bills.
  4. While I wasn't at that game I was at a Bills Backers bar in NYC called McFadden's. I arrived and we were down 14-0 and I was waiting for a girl to arrive who was also a fan. Horrible way to start a date! Making matters worse, Brady immediately threaded one in to Gronk putting them up 21-0. Then I remember feeling somewhat hopeful at halftime when we pulled within 11, remembering the sick comeback from the week before against the Raiders. Then later when the Florence pick 6 happened I felt like the roof would come off the place, indescribable joy! Still nothing compared to the apotheosis that was the Jackson catch and run and the Field Goal to win it and end the drought. This was immediately proceeded by fans storming the streets of NY, stopping traffic, hugging and high-fiving complete strangers, and just complete mayhem that lasted hours afterwords! A beautiful turning point in franchise history. Even though we tanked second half of that year I feel that game will be looked back upon as one that changed the culture of the fanbase and team. Let's hope this year we can step on the gas!!
  5. All this makes sense and is probably true. But I think a lot of it had to do with creating space for Clay. I'm sure if space wasn't a factor then Chandler is still on the team. Remember he was only just resigned in the offseason and while yes there was a coaching change he didn't really decline terribly. I guess they have faith in the other two of the draft.
  6. It seems a lot of that has to do with the offenses they ran at college. In the I form there is a much greater need for the back to have keen vision and awareness for holes and cutbacks. Spiller is a spread offense get out in space early type. His speed was almost to his detriment in a way as he would get to the line before the whole even opened up, and then would bounce it outside. Fred oftentimes running behind the exact same group would hit the whole running downhill because his pace and vision were better. I wish we had figured out how to use him as I'm sure the Saints will, but McCoy is a healthy combination of the two. He doesn't have Spiller's speed but far more vision and ability to break tackles.
  7. Yeah, I mean people forget we also interviewed him for HC
  8. It is about the same sample size if you think about it. Plus everyone thought he would go 3rd or later. I'm not totally sold, yet. But I do remember he had virtually no training camp his rookie year and still showed some flashes. He also had literally no competition last TC. There was just no sink or swim incentive to really improve the way he needed to even with all the work he put in. Let's see if he has the heart of a champion. It's in the Bills best interest to see him win this job as he has the most raw talent of any in this group.
  9. Well that's what happened in his only run as HC yes. Not necessarily a pattern yet. Also, I don't think he ever lost that locker room according to his ex-players. Also remember, last year the Jets were 4-12 but a very competitive 4-12 who almost beat the Packers on the road, NE twice, and Detroit, and they convincingly beat Pittsburgh somehow! Believe it or not, if they had won all their close games (7 or less) they would have been 10-6! I know that doesn't mean anything. I just think He just never had the personnel he needed to take them over the top in the end as his rosters got progressively worse. Let's see how he does with our boys.
  10. This fact underscores the concern even further, I'm sure he knew in advance that he'd have to pay it back. What kind of message does it send now that two players turned down this level of money for longevity the NFL can't provide. Goddell's got to be shitting bricks about now.
  11. Depends on how much they improve by the change of coordinators. They're not too far removed from producing a highly ranked rushing attack two years back with similar personel so I guess we'll just see which line shows up. Incognito should help somehow, and maybe drafting heavily for Oline last year will pay off this year.
  12. Hard to tell how Fitz would have fared with his ribs in tact that year (2011), not to mention with a receiving core better than 1.Stevie Johnson with a groin hangup, 2. Donald Jones??? and 3. David Nelson. He still almost threw for 4000, not saying he's great eh, but surely did a hell of a lot with a little. Would be interesting to see what he would do with this core.
  13. Plus we already as a team had a solid core intact, minus quarterback. Teams that add to the core with FA tend to do far better than those who build it with the same.
  14. Yeah, and it's interesting to note that even with that offense which had explosive stretches, he was working with 1. Stevie Johnson with a bum groin, 2. Donald Jones? nuff said 3. and David Nelson, who had some nice games but is hardly Percy Harvin. There were numerous injuries on that team including Fred Jackson who was leading the NFL in rushing for a stretch and Fitz still approached 4000 yards even after he broke his ribs (the game after he signs a huge contract, so Bills of him, ugh). I'm not saying I'd take him over Cassel yet, Cassel has a slightly better arm and more winning seasons, however it would be interesting to see how Fitz would play with these new toys we've just brought aboard. He just last year had his career best completion percentage on a team that really didn't have many threats on it at all. Who knows, I think sometimes we forget that we were the No-named offense for a reason.
  15. I love Fred Jackson, and put him a notch behind Thomas Kelly Reed etc as one of the most endeared players in franchise history, but how will he be utilized this year? Power I formations? passing downs? (McCoy is also phenominal catching out of the backfield where Fred was effective last year ). Booby's far more of a short yardage back than Fred so probably not so much there. I'm just interested in hearing scenarios, and I don't really think the fumbles are that big an issue for him, we all know he's a gamer and most of those fumbles mentioned he got back. Remember Travis Henry was a 1300 yard runner and fumbled quite literally almost every game one year. I'm just curious to know in what capacity Roman will specifically utilize him in order to enhance the offense that isn't otherwise covered by the other backs. Suggestions?
