Interesting for Legette people. I feel like Legette could go anywhere from late round 1-3rd. Franklin also.

Yea Harmon started as a fantasy guy but he has been doing these route charting long enough now I think he is one of the best WR evaluators out there. He did this podcast the other day where he went through many of the guys likely there for the Bills at 28 and later. He also comps Odunze to Devante Adams if we were to move up

  2. With the 24th pick in the 2024 draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Jordan Morgan OT Arizona.

The Cowboys line is in flux after losing both stalwart left tackle Tyron Smith after a decorated 13 year Cowboy career and 2023 Probowl Center Biadasz in Free Agency.

A common prediction is for Tyler Smith to kick out to LT. But due to his excellent play at LG and losing their starting Center, the cowboys want to keep some consistency on the line. So they opt for the athletic Morgan over Fautanu (questions about ability to play tackle in the NFL), Mims (injuries and lack of playing time) and Guyton. In the last three years, the Cowboys first rounder was either a top 30 visit or had a private workout and reports are Dallas OL Coach Mike Solari put Morgan through one at his pro day.

With both Dak and Ceedee’s contracts concluding after this season. The draft is about plugging holes and trying to make one last playoff push with the McCarthy/Dak pairing in 2024 before blowing everything up after losing in the first round.

The Green Bay Packers and @MrEpsYtown are now on the clock

Is the goal of this team to collect mediocre db's from Pitt because if so they are doing a great job. Do they have a scout there who is someone's son and they always just take his word for it?

The Pitt defense and Bills defense have a lot of similarities in the secondary scheme, so it’s an easier projection.

Working off of this consensus big board: https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/big-boards/2024/consensus-big-board-2024

I would go with Javon Baker and Jacob Cowing at WR. Both are top 10 WRs in this class IMO.

The consensus big board still has Drake Maye as the #2 prospect in the class, but it feels like a lot of the people in the mainstream media are pushing him down their boards and I think that's a major mistake.

If say a Jonny Newton falls to us at 28, I’d be pretty happy with him Baker and Cowing

Joe Marino was saying today that if the Bills aren’t trading up for one of the Top 3 ( which is unlikely )… and they don’t make a splashy trade for a Higgins or Aiyuk…then whoever else they end up drafting will not be the leading receiver in 2024… so in other words,  the leading receiver is already on the team out of say Kincaid, Shakir or Samuel….

Do people agree with this ? Can one of the other guys come in and get say over 1,000 yards in Year 1?

I think a lot of guys that seem the most likely candidates to draft - BTJ. Legette, Mitchell … might take a year to find their feet in the NFL…

I like Joe, he is a good podcaster and truly loves the Bills. But Dalton Kincaids 673 receiving yard last year is the most of a returning pass catcher. I think even a tier 2 guy has a chance to lead the team in what looks likely to be a very egalitarian offense though I would definitely give the inside track to a veteran player over a rookie.

A private workout and a top 30 visit. That tells me we're very interested, perhaps as a 2nd round target. Based on his frame and combine I don't think he'll be a 1st round pick anymore.

I really like him,but would like him a lot more if he weighed 10lbs more.  I also have an issue with him weaving everywhere in the gauntlet during the combine.

    But whatever Beane thinks.

His hands are not the best and the gauntlet exposed that. I’ve watched enough of him to think it’ll be ok in the NFL but if he were to just be a role player rather than a good WR, I think that would be the reason - think Nelson Agholar. I’m not worried about the weight, he has the frame to add weight and is the fourth youngest WR in the class. (And  he weighed in at 183 at his pro day).

Just as the title says. In your opinion, what player is the draft community too low on, that you think will (or at least should) be drafted higher than where the analysts and the draftniks have him going currently?

    I'll start:

    Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon.

I get it, it's a great WR class. Still, for all you hear about the big three, Brian Thomas, AD Mitchell, Xavier Worthy, Keon Coleman...Troy Franklin tends to be an afterthought. Yes, he's skinny. He's also fast, silky smooth, has legitimate ability to win deep, and posted quality production at Oregon the past two years, including 1383 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2023. To me, he's akin to a Devonta Smith, Chris Olave type, if perhaps a step down (though not a big one) in overall talent from those two.

I think everyone is too low on Troy Franklin. I'm not sure that, after the big three receivers, he's not the next best guy. I like him a lot.

So who's yours? Which player is the draft community too low on?

I am saying after the top 3 guys he is next. Analytically he grades out as very good in basically every metric beside contested catches. Had above 3 yards per route run against man and zone, one of the top graded WRs against single coverage in the last few years (up there with Davante Smith, Jamar Chase, etc.). When it comes to explosive plays, he generated a 30 yard gain in 12/13 games. He had a 40 yard gain in 7/13 games. Both led the class. He is just a very consistent, explosive and well rounded receiver that a poor combine is dragging down the boards.

When you watch him play, you see why the analytics are so high on him. Excellent release package, can make plays at three levels, has some nastiness and wiggle to his yac, and was ALWAYS on the same page as Bo Nix.

I go into a little more detail in this thread:

But imo, Troy Franklin is WR4 and my top target for the Bills.

What are the issues?  He transferred to Alabama and pissed off Georgia?  Punched a fan in a field storming situation.  Is that it?  I hear off the field but never details into what.  Makes me think its more draft speak than real.

1:12:20 in is Dane Bugler talking about it. Of course nothing specific.

“Burton has been to 6 schools over 8 years and was on the ***** list of the coaches at both Georgia and Alabama”

Good podcast in addition to that Burton comment.

I was high on Franklin heading into the combine, wavered on that a bit, but after his pro day I really feel like he does so much so well. He’s not the best guy in the draft overall, but he might be the best option for what the Bills are looking for. I’d like to entertain a possible trade back from 28 into the top of the 2nd round to recoup a 3rd or early 4th, but he would be my target between 33-37.

My love for Franklin is well documented. He’s very good at a lot of things. I’d be happy with him at 28, ecstatic if we got him after a trade down

@DCOrange has had Cowing as an early Day 2 talent for awhile. The stats backup what he saw.

  11. With the 77th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders select Christian Haynes, OG, UConn

The Raiders current RG is Jordan Meredith. This Madden auto generated player was signed to a 1 year sub 1 million dollar deal to replace Bills cast of Greg Van Roten. In other words, the Raiders are thrilled to pair Haynes with new RT Fuaga.

In addition to providing a solid front 5 to allow for the human trebuchet Penix to have the clean pocket that made him so successful this season, it also provides a strong run blocking tandem on that right side. This should allow for a lot of wide zone runs that Getsy loves so much. With Zamir Whites showing in the last month of the season and several good RBs still on the board to be selected later in the draft, the Raiders feel like they can put together a good running game to compliment their rookie QB.

CB was in high consideration at this spot too, but with Patrick Grahams zone heavy scheme we feel like we can wait there too. Antonio Pierce likes some of the LBs on the board too which made his trigger finger itchy, but in the end it came down to protecting the young QB.

NWITH THE 72ND PICK IN THE 2024 NFL DRAFT, THE NEW YORK JETS SELECT:

    Calen Bullock Safety USC

With the Giants just taking the safety the Jets had targeted, it’s imperative to take another before a run starts. This fills a primary need for the Jets as they try to contain the Bills and Dolphins diverse potent offenses.

Based on all the metrics, if we stay at 28, and are drafting a WR, Ladd McConkey has to be the pick…

No skin off my nose I'd have offered them to @Virgil for the Bills poll in any event:

2 RBs - Brooks and Benson

    1 TE - Sanders

    1 IOL - Haynes

2 DTs - Fiske and Jenkins

3 EDGE - Trice, Braswell and Isaac

2 CBs - Tampa and James

    1 S - Bullock

If this is what the Bills had to choose from, I would want Haynes but I think they would go Isaac

Is there a medical issue with Mitchell?  I thought that I heard them allude to one on SiriusXM, but I didn’t hear what the issue might be.  I can’t find anything about one on the net.  Anyone hear about a medical on Mitchell?

A high ankle sprain cost him almost the enitre 2022 season. That’s the only injury I know about him

  16. With the 44th pick in the 2024 NFL draft the Las Vegas Raiders select Michael Penix, QB, Washington.

The Maxwell award winner was in consideration for the Raiders at pick 13. Antonio Pierce was able to keep Bowl Cut Mark at bay and picked up the lefties blindside protector instead.

Mark Davis reportedly “grilled” potential GMs about their plan for getting the Raiders a QB. With that type of mandate, the Raiders will take a QB early in this draft.

Of the ones likely to be available, Penix is the best fit for Luke Getsy’s offense. Getsy used play action the 7th and 16th most in the league in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Penix used play action the most and was the highest graded play action QB in this class per pff.

Getsy also had a lot of deep passes baked into his offense as Chicago threw the sixth and forth most 20+ yard passes in the league the past two seasons. Penix has a huge arm and a beautiful deep ball. The injury concerns and age are a concern, but when you feel like you need a QB you take a swing.

Was it?  Crap, my brain is broke.  I thought we traded back into the 1st for Edmunds

Nah we still had KCs first from the Mahomes trade. So we used the third we got from Cleveland in the Tyrod trade (1st pick of the third round) to move up from 22 to 16 to get Edmonds

Agreed. I think that what he does well is what I want in a wide receiver. He somehow is perceived to lack the "flash" and ceiling of some of the other guys in the class, but I think he's going to be a top level NFL target for a long time. Speed, quickness, route running, separation. I don't know if it's just his body size/type that people don't like or what, but I think he'll be a good one.

If the Bills aren't trading up for one of the big three or four guys, I'd love it if they took Franklin, wherever they deem it appropriate to do so, value-wise.

Yea I think his poor combine started the slide and then people are hoping for a bigger bodied WR who can win contested catches which is not Franklins strong suit. I hope Beane is thinking Logic-ally!
