That’s all true, but KC is in much better shape cap wise.  As it stands currently, the Bills could not even field a starting DL.  Now, maybe they can find a way to re-up, say, Daquan Jones and Epenesa in FA.  If they can do that, they would have a DL of Jones and Oliver at DT with Eli Ankou the only reserve and Rousseau, Miller, Epenesa and Jonathan at DE.  That still leaves the team in need of a starting S and competent DT backup to find in the draft,

I totally agree that they need WR help - very likely someone who can play at least the majority of snaps in Davis’ position, if not being the outright starter there, but I think the other needs preclude being too aggressive in trading up.  Outside of the top 3 (Harrison, Odunze, Nabors) who are way out of range, I think Coleman, Thomas, Leggette, Franklin, Mitchell, and maybe Rice and Polk could fill that role as well as Davis.  Obviously, they are not all on the same tier amongst that group, but they could fill that role.  Beyond them, there are other wr in this class that probably can’t fill that role, but would contribute to the offense.

I don’t think that any of the group that could fill Davis’ role are going to become top level #1 receivers, but then nobody thought Stefan Diggs, Amon Ra St. Brown and Cooper Cupp would ever be high volume dominant receivers.

Long way around to say that I would not want to trade anything more than a 5th this year to move up in round 1 because they need cheap competent labor this year and may need starters at S, DT and might need depth there as well.

Chris Jones and LJarius Sneed are both free agents this year and both will require more than $20 million per year contracts so there is that for KC to deal with. None of the Bills FAs are as big of deals

But I agree, there is enough high end talent at WR this year to not get antsy and give up assets. We need to start getting younger and cheaper as a whole and that means having a lot of draft picks and developing them on the roster like the Chiefs have done and the Rams are doing.

I like Coleman because he fits what the Bills need. We need a WR that can win against man coverage outside.

Defenses ran man against us more than any other team because they knew they could get away with it against our WRs. As a result we were forced to throw passes to our TEs and RBs against man almost half the time, which is not a recipe for explosive offense.

Insert Keon Coleman... He has traits to physically dominate man coverage. I get that he isn't a great separator, but being able to physically box out his man and win at the catch point can be equally valuable. Also he could be an elite red zone target.

Positional value, physical upside, adds traits that we don't already have. That's what I'm looking for. For me it is Franklin and Coleman as the only two realistically available players that check all those boxes.

I’m in 100% agreement we need players who can beat man and press coverage quickly. Even in the years teams played less man against us in-season, we would get to the playoffs and the corners would be physical with Diggs and co and it disrupted things.

Coleman is the second youngest receiver in the draft behind Nabers I believe and so he is still pretty raw. Those amazing one handed stabs he makes are from his time as a basketball player but he does it a little too frequently right now. Good coaching could make him a dominant player because his physical traits are awesome. I’d be happy with him at 28.

The guy I am very high on and like him better than Coleman right now (Coleman has more tools to develop into a more dominant receiver), is Brenden Rice. I don’t know why teams tried to press him as much as they did because he crushed them for it so often. Also Caleb Williams ran scramble drills so frequently Rice became very good at making himself available during the offscript throws where Josh is already so dangerous. I think he is the THE perfect fit for the Bills.

In the end though, we just need to bring in a lot of young receivers to improve the overall talent level of the WR room like Green Bay did. As long as we draft a receiver early and a few more on day 2 and 3 this draft I will be happy

Sign me up for Jermaine Burton. He looks like a DJ Moore clone and that is good enough for me. Just not sure if he is a complete head case or not with all the teams he has bounced around on but he looks to be a plug and play wr that could make an immediate impact for us next year and you might be able to land him in the second round.

Burton is an under appreciated WR. The Bama passing offense was a mess this year and so he did not collect the numbers others did. He had 3 touchdowns in the Texas game and all but one got called back because of offensive penalties. He has phenomenal hands - I haven’t seen him drop a pass this year. He is tough and willing to take hits to make the play like the TD he had against Tennessee. And he is an explosive athlete who can stretch the field from out wide well (over 20 ypc this season).

I don’t think he is as explosive as DJ Moore, but I think he is a better version of Marvin Mims who went at the end of the second last year. He seems to be crowded out by other prospects among the talking heads but I think he is an early round 2 WR talent wise you may be able to get later.

Nah, I don’t think he’s an averge athlete at all.  I think he has average speed.  His core is incredibly strong.  His hips are as oily as a great corner.  He can make adjustments to pass and routes that many other WRs can’t make…..and he catches just about everything.  His hands are incredible

Polk is still pretty young so maybe he could get better but I think he is going to struggle for a bit in the NFL.  He had his fair share of bad drops (OSU game was really bad). He also struggled with physicality - outmuscled for a contested catch interception, dropping passes when hit, and limited tackle breaking. Hopefully he goes to a team that is at the beginning of their rebuild with a young QB and can take a few years to grow without the expectation of immediate contributions. He does have some good traits to build on.

He would be a nice pick if they take another position in round 1, but be prepared for the “40 guys” to not like him when he runs 4.5-4.6.

Faster than his Dad tho! Haha

I wouldn't hate Rice in round 2 but he is an early 3rd grade for me right now and as a Bills fit - only if they have found an explosive guy in the first.

Unfortunately the top 4 explosive guys will likely be gone (MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, Franklin) by 28. Worthy is next on my rankings but after seeing the Bills WRs manhandled in the playoffs the past 4 years I do want a more physical player for us.

Jermaine Burton and Brenden Rice are actually 6 and 7 respectively in my rankings right now and would love to get them rd2 and 3 if we go elsewhere in round 1. Think both would increase the explosiveness and physicality of our receiving unit.

He's not even that tall. He measured in at 6'1 at the Senior Bowl. He's average height and has decent speed. There's a lot of average in the draft class and he doesn't wow. If you're looking for a nice round 2 guy, look at Ja'Lynn Polk and Brenden Rice. Jmo

I’m not a Tez guy myself but he does have good speed. It was one game, but Polk struggled in the elements against Oregon State which has dropped him in my own personal rankings.

Glad you mentioned Brenden Rice. I think would be perfect in Buffalo. A bigger, physical receiver with enough long speed and he is smart and knows how to make plays for his QB when the play goes off script. One of my targets for the bills.

I could see Fiske being a 3rd round target for us. We need to load up on defensive line talent in this draft if for no other reason than to make sure we have enough bodies at the position...

He took over the ACC Championship game. Good football player. We will see how he tests bc I think the tweet is right that some teams will push him down their board due to his length.

  8. I like Jermaine Burton as a mid round WR. Comparing him to last years class, I think he is a better version of Marvin Mims who went rd 2. Explosive, tough, and a little bit of a screw loose.

Because Josh Allen is the only QB in the league on Mahomes level.

If Josh only had Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill followed by a top defense led by the D-Coordinator that helped stop the undefeated Pats season in the SuperBowl. Josh is every bit as good as Mahomes and often times has to play twice as good to keep the Bills in it. So frustrating.

  10. If the Chiefs beat the Ravens, it will be the first time Mahomes has won a playoff game after beating the Bills in the playoffs. As much as we prop up Chiefs as our Super Bowl, the Chiefs empty the tank against the Bills like it is theirs too.

Good riddance. High paid player who no shows in the playoffs. Trade em to the highest bidder

It really is crazy, his three playoff games against the Chiefs went for 77, 7, and 21 receiving yards. They are really physical with him.

A post 6/1 Trade may be possible as you would likely still get a good pick for him and free up space in 2024. Most likely he will be with us for one final year.

  12. Shakir has been amazing. We have him, Kincaid and Cooks as building blocks for the next 2-3 years. Gotta add more big time weapons for Josh and keep adding to the OL. Luckily it is a great draft for both this year.

Allen was absolutely legendary tonight. Ran when he should have. Passed when he should have. Took the check down when he should have. He was darn near PERFECT.

    67%, 258 total yards, 3 TD’s, 0 INT.

And against a top 5 Chiefs defense that was mostly healthy, unlike our mash unit.

Had Diggs and Sherfield played the game with NFL receiver hands, Allen would have had close to 400 yards of offense by himself.

    And I don’t want to hear jack squat about his throw to the endzone on 2nd and 9. Allen had two good options on that play;

    1) Shakir open in the endzone.

    2) Diggs open on the crosser.

He chose Shakir, who had made several great catches during the game, over Diggs who had 2 drops during the game.

If Chris Jones didn’t push Dawkins into Allen’s side as he threw it, that would have been Allen’s 4th TD of the game.

He was better tonight that in the 13 seconds game, which was by and large Allen taking advantage of the Chiefs falling over each other. Allen was methodical tonight.

I do agree that Allen was great tonight, but he should have taken the open crosser to Diggs. We were playing to run out the clock with how the defense was struggling to stop the Chiefs. He was still great but that wasn’t the best choice even if it wound up a touchdown.

  14. The loss sucks but we will all be back here next September including McDermott, Beane and Brady.

For me as long as they keep putting top resources into the offense like they did with Cooks, Kincaid and Torrence I will believe we can break through. Need a big influx of talent at WR next year since it will be Diggs last and he has shriveled in big playoff games here.

It will likely depend on who the NFC has playing. I'd imagine the AFC going to be a later game of the 2 as think it will draw more fans in.

AFC game already scheduled for 3 pm next week

  16. He was enemy #1 in Philly back in 2017 because he pulled the same thing. Then the eagles won the Super Bowl and he stopped going after them because saying they weren’t good went from hot take to bro they just won the Super Bowl.

Its all an act for rage clicks.
