Is that true? I had no idea. That’s a very quiet #2 then, I guess it is the lack of touchdowns that’s keeping it quiet in the media.

it’s a little skewed because Cook has played one more game than most since most teams have had their bye week by this point. But still Cook has been a very good runner for us.

Well for one..McDermott will be back. That’s a certainty. His seat maybe a lil warmer but it’s not hot. 4 straight double digit win seasons. 3 division titles in 4 years. They not firing him.

These next 7 games will us tell what we need to know. They fired Ken Dorsey at the right time because now there is going to be a decent amount of a sample size to see if Joe Brady is the guy for the job. If he is..the Bills could possibly still make the playoffs. If the offense still struggles..there will be an extensive search for a new OC. I’m good with McDermott still running the defense. The defense despite all the injuries is still playing some good football and keeping us in these games.

I agree that McDermott most likely is back next year. I’m not sure which offensive coordinator they could bring in that would be exciting, especially if McD has started to get a reputation (fired Rick Dennison after 1 year, rumors that Daboll hated him by the end of his tenure, Dorsey not making it two full seasons).

I do think that McD needs a DC tho. He is a good DC, but at least part of the game mismanagement this year I think is from him trying to hold both HC and DC responsibilities.

I actually thought he could get the OC, has had several good seasons with different QBs.

I’m surprised it wasn’t him getting OC too since McD is very familiar with him. Though aside from Cam’s psycho 2015 season where the offense was ranked first in points for, he never had another top 10 offense in 10 other seasons as an NFL OC.

I’m not sure Brady is going to be too successful bc he was bad with Carolina but maybe he has untapped potential. His LSU offense was amazing but it had Joe Burrow and the two best receivers in the NFL (Chase and Jefferson) so that made life much easier lol

  4. Long term that would be the best option. But Josh currently has the longest active starts record for a QB and the Bills are technically still mathematically alive for the playoffs. So they won’t make any moves like  that. They may still continue to lose though.  What a crazy year.

Let's assume, regardless of anyone's wishes, McD is safe for one more year.

IMO, the best thing he could do for himself as Head Coach is show Terry and Bills Mafia that he really is the CEO of a winning team; and fire Dorsey, fire himself, and hire a new OC and new DC.

    But who is that?

    Offense:

On staff we have the likes of Joe Brady and Mike Shula

Any other upcoming guys hiding as QB coaches out there?

Anyone left on the 9ers staff worth looking at?

Anyone good enough to be able to take over in 2025 if McD keeps McD-ing?

    Defense:

    On staff... Eric Washington?

    Brandon Staley maybe?

Would Ron Rivera do it as a bridge year? Or into retirement?

Any sleepers buried on staffs I'm not thinking about? Former players...

Assuming McD stays, who is your ultimate staff next year?

Predicting coordinators is hard but I’ll give it a shot

    Potential hires for OC:

Kevin Patullo - Eagles passing game coordinator since 2021. Had a stint from 2010-12 with the Bills.

Byron Leftwich - obviously won a Super Bowl with Brady and the Bucs. It was a surprise when Bowles got the HC position over him.

    DC

I think Bobby Babich is probably the most likely person to fill that spot. His position groups have been very good while he was here.

  6. I’m not one to normally overact or call for a shakeup, but I think it is time to move on. It should be immediate to let Joe Brady audition for the position ROS to see if he has anything there after a great season coordinating LSU and a bad season with the a panthers. But it will likey be after the season that Dorsey is gone.

All 3 are overpaid IMO. Would not have brought Phillips back, would have cut Settle, and Poona has been a disappointment. How many vet DTs has he missed on since being our GM? Needs to own his errors.

The Star contract still might be the worst contract he ever gave out. He hasn’t drafted any DTs since Ed in 2019 which means he has brought in a lot of FAs to fill those spots.

Rhetorical question. Bernard knee. Also on there. These injury reports don’t mean anything. Elam has been full practice. It’s not the ankle folks as the reason he’s healthy scratch. It’s beane manipulating the narrative at the mic.

He was limited all week 2 weeks ago, full last week but injuries are not alway linear. You can certainly say this is Bean being manipulative if that is your prerogative.

  9. I don’t think we will make a move but if I had to rank likeliest trade candidates:

    1. Harrison Phillips - with Cousins down, the rebuild that was expected in 2024 starts early. About 2 million is owed to Phillips for the rest of the year, he knows the system, and he would start next to Ed the next day.

    2. Kendall Fuller - This week was the Commies last stand, they have now fallen to 0-3 in the division. Rivera and McD have a relationship. His contract is a bit more expensive at about 4.5 left for the year.

    3. Josey Jewel - The Broncos had a few goals this year. Beat the Chiefs, see what players are worth keeping around and lose a lot of games to get a young QB. Jewel is on the last year of his contract and Drew Sanders is expected to be a longer term player. About 2 million is still owed.

Others I’d be shocked if we landed, but may be obtainable by someone for a big price:

    1. Derrick Brown

    2. DeForest Buckner

    3. Jonathan Allen

  10. Going Bills and Detroit.

We are still a good team in a muddled AFC. Also I am a homer.

Between Goff, Purdy, Dak and a maybe injured Hurts, Detroit may have the best QB of the lot. Eagles play Dal, chiefs, Bills, SF, Dal in a 5 week stretch. If Detroit can get the #1 seed with Goff being great at home, I think it could be there year.

    for the last time….

Simmons signed a 4 year 94 mil deal in the spring. Titans would take an insane dead cap hit if he was traded.

According to Sportrac it would be $4.8 million dead cap this year and $19.2 next year if they traded him. Definitely unlikely as he is young and just signed that new contract and would likely cost our first rounder. But they did just take on $8.8 million this year and $13.3 million next year in dead cap with the Byard trade. So I’d say unlikely but possible.

Jeffrey Simmons would instantaneously fix everything on this defense.   Just like how if Daquan Jones didn’t go down, we probably dominate the Pats Offense. Not just because of the talent at 1T but because of what it does for LB and Coverage.

No clue how we’re affording his contract in future years, but we do need a 1T for future years.

Yea Simmons and a healthy Oliver would help our defense immensely.

We are going to see a huge overhaul of expensive contracts being released this upcoming offseason so Simmons contract wouldn’t be difficult to accommodate in future years imo.

  13. I wouldn’t hate it, seems like the Bills really want an effective play action game this year and Henry would help that.

But I think Hopkins and especially Jeffrey Simmons make more sense. I’m no capologist but I believe Henry is still owed about $6.8 million for the rest of the year. Compare that to Hopkins whose total base salary for the year was $1.2 million and Simmons base is only $1.3 million this year (his big money kicks in next year). Not sure when they say everyone is available that they mean Simmons too. But maybe the conversations we are having with the Titans are being speculated for Henry but actually involving one of those players at a greater area of need? Who knows

  14. I still think Josh can be the top QB in the league when he wants to be. And I think he is probably an ok leader behind the scenes and in the huddle. But I’ve been watching Josh for a long time and I don’t see the fire I saw when he was at Wyoming or just before 13 seconds struck. I think a little part of it is him feeling like he made it…which he has.

But I think that is mostly on coaching. Without Daboll I don’t think anyone on the offensive side has the nuts to tell Josh to do better and tell him what he could do (except Stef but he is not a coach). That is the biggest problem imo. Just once I would like to see the camera pan to the sideline and have a coach sitting next to Josh looking at one of those tablets( what does Joe Brady even look like?). Or see him up huddling with his teammates getting them psyched up….Josh could be doing more but he is not the problem. Offensive coaching is the problem. But this is all jmo

  15. Zero worry. Jones is terrible and his confidence is shot. Neither Zeke or Stevenson are game breakers. And Parker, Juju and Bourne have no juice. They have averaged 6.7 ppg in the last 3 games. 12 ppg for the entire year.

Their defense won’t be able to do much either as their best two players Judon and Gonzalez are out. Bills will roll, Gabe, Kincaid and the others will have a big day. They may throw all their resources at Stef so maybe he doesn’t do much. I don’t see another close Giants game. Maybe a Washington type game where it is close for a bit and then it breaks open.

It will be interesting to see what they do in the draft. They will have to think about the secondary. Poyer and Hyde are both over 30. Tre will be coming back from a second serious injury. What kind of season will he have next year.

As sad as it will be to see them go, Tre will likely be cut as a post 6/1 designation saving 10.3 million in cap. Poyer may be here in 2024 but the Bills save 5.5 million in cap if he isnt. Hyde will be here bc not much savings but 2024 will be his last.

They may run with Benford, Elam, resign Dane and sign another cheaper vet for CB, Maybe they keep Rapp around for 2024. I think 2025 is when we will see some new faces for the secondary but certainly is going to be needed soon.

Broncos fans think Sutton has hardly any trade value due to his contract and are hoping someone offers a 3rd for Jeudy.

honestly they are right. Van Jefferson who was drafted one round later than Jeudy and has 1 more TD and 70 less catches for 1k less yards in his career was traded for a swap of 6th and 7th rounders in 2025.

If the Broncos get anything (more likely he plays out his contract), it will be at best a day 3 pick in 2024 imo
