I don't know. The Bills played their second game against a crazy-good running attack (look what Oakland did against the Jests today). Today they played against a crazy-good passing game. It seems like they intentionally held back the pass rush in both games. Merriman played alot of 1:1 against the tackle. There were no stunts, no moving him around, no delays. It was pretty vanilla. Against the Raiders, he set the edge. Against the Pats the Bills dropped back into coverage. I wouldn't write off those interceptions so easily. The Bills got two red zone ints and a pick-six off a guy who threw 4 interceptions all of last season. And while doing this, they also stoned the Pats running game, which put more on the shoulders of Brady. Very few teams are going to be able to put Brady on his back like so many of us would like to see. but, I think if you asked pretty boy himself, he'll tell you that the ints hurt way more than sacks.

Like children, I can't pick a favorite one. I love them all equally.

The offense starting getting better when Chan named Fitz and Freddy starters. Fitz helped to make Stevie a featured receiver. Moving Wood to center was a catalyst. The defensive made some strides when they started giving Kyle Williams more reps, but the improvement really gained traction by getting bigger on the line with Dareus, and better at MLB with Barnett. The Bills ability to contain the run this year is a huge improvement over last season.

It's going through the appeal process. He's also suing the NFLPA for not protecting his rights, so it's a big mess right now. Shipley should also be facing a suspension soon. The police found 5 or 6 pounds of weed in his house last week.

This team has proven that they don't need the draft. Just a three day waste of time that is only needed to produce a UDFA list. That's when the real work begins.

When you get 4 interceptions off of Brady, you're doing something right. It may not have been the fan-preferred way of stoping Brady, but it was effective nonetheless. Brady threw 4 interceptions all of last year. In one game, he threw two red-zone ints and had one returned for a TD. In the 2011 version of the NFL, that's pretty good defense.

I thought that they would win this game. Fitz, Stevie, and Freddie won me over last season. The O-line won me over the first couple of weeks of this season. The defense has some issues, but name an NFL defense right now that hasn't struggled this season. They only needed to get some key turnovers against Brady and they were able to do it. Coaching, talent, and character; the Bills aren't lacking in any of those key areas.

Yeah, Belichick was completely flustered at the end of the game, and Brady threw a bunch of ints in the red zone and had one returned for a touchdown. So sure, the Pats were outplayed and outcoached!!!!

Buffalo wins this game. Their o-line and receivers are underrated, and with the way Fitz is distributing the ball, the Buffalo offense is extremely difficult to stop. NE's secondary is going to have trouble matching up with the size of Buffalo's receivers. On defense, the Bills gameplan last week was to stop the run and let Campbell try to beat them (and he almost did). This week they'll stop the Pats inside passing game and let their outside WRs and running game try to beat them. I think the D will be up to the challenge.

I agree. Like mentioned above, the entire front seven had run responsibility against the Chiefs and Raiders. Against a passing team, I look to the coaching staff to move Merriman around a bit and add some pressure schemes.

Yeah, and 3 weeks later they got torched by Dallas' offense in the SB. The offense looks like a contender this season. If the Bills are going to make a playoff run, the defense needs to be addressed.

Um, you are aware that Cutler threw something like 26 interceptions last seasons, and that Mike Martz offenses put a low priority on protecting the QB? Chicago isn't wining because of offense, it because of their defense. Teams that can pressure Cutler beat the Bears. The Bills couldn't apply the necessary pressure. I've been a Bills fan a long time; take a look at Jim Kelly's '86 season. He choked away several games, trying to carry a pretty talentless team. When the defense can generate some sacks, and hold the opposing team under, I don't know, say, 140 rushing yards a game, you won't need to rely on the QB as much in crucial situations, and then the value of converting 3rd downs and reading defenses will become more valuable. I really don't know what you're saying here, because just about every 'elite' QB in this league has thrown a crippling interception (see Manning in the SB last season). There has to be more to judging a QB than his interceptions. For the first time since Kelly, the Bills have a QB that can read defenses. He's not stymied by the cover 2 or the 3-4. He can make throws under pressure, which has made a bad line look decent. He gets the ball outside to the receivers. And he's actually throwing TDs. No doubt the interceptions are frustating, but basing the entire evaluation on these picks considering that the team has had no running game, no pass rush, no rush defense, missed field goals and PATs, and few turnovers is unfair.

The Bills were 6-10 last season, and the fact is that they weren't as good as their record. They won two games against rookie QBs, two against washed up QBs, one against the Chiefs, and one against the Colts third stringers (and a rookie QB). The futility of the last two seasons is due to the rot in the roster caused by horrible drafts over the last decade. It's made worse by the owner's inability to hire competent, NFL-caliber front-office personnel. Three years is a generous estimate for rebuilding. Right now, The Bills have one viable (possible) starter in the defensive front seven. Nix has already let one off-season go by without effectively filling those spots. It will probably take a couple of offseasons just to address these gaps in with the draft and free agency. And when you consider the offensive needs at tackle, center, tight end, and quarterback, Nix would have the be the second coming of Bill Polian to make this team a playoff contender in three seasons.
