  1. That makes sense when you already have a lead. In the Miami game we were down 4 and scored a TD with 1:20 left. We didn't get the ball again until OT.
  2. So should they have taken Kyle Boller or Rex Grossman in '03 then?
  3. Ours did, but it didn't help us...
  4. I'm not sure I understand your argument here. The 2004 QB class is undeniably better than the 2003 class.
  5. Since you skipped the last part of my post I decided to look. Philly lost all 9 of the games where their D allowed more than 23.6 points.
  6. fix'd that for you
  7. So, based on my statements, I would consider both (Philly especially) inconsistent as well. Is that incorrect? AZ won 1 of those 7 games if I'm not mistaken. How many did Philly win?
  8. I find it amusing that this particular analysis is the one you find strange, but not garbage time, or 'when it counts' time, or in the 4th quarter down by 1, etc. Look, all I'm saying is the Defense allowed 27 or more points in half of the games they played and that is not good. And, as mentioned 23.6 PPG was the average for the year in the NFL and our defense failed to meet that mark 8 times. Comparatively, the average NFL offense scored 22.9 PPG. Our offense failed to meet that mark 5 times.
  9. It might have to do with the rest of the roster, maybe. All 3 of those teams defenses finished in the top half of the league for DVOA, ours was 26th. The Steelers QB publicly considered retirement this offseason, Eli Manning is 36, and Alex Smith is 32.
  10. It'd be interesting, and again a deviation from Whaley's M.O.
  11. Used to be that way with Schefter
  12. Instead of removing certain events I like to go by Football Outsiders' DVOA rankings, which put the 2016 Bills Defense at 26th in the NFL and the 2016 Bills Offense at 10th in the NFL. In case you're wondering, here's some past rankings too: 2015: O-9th, D-24th 2014: O-26th, D-2nd 2013: O-25th, D-4th 2012: O-20th, D-27th
  13. Kinda bad? Compared to the PPG rankings 27 would be good for bottom 4, and 30 would be good for dead last. So in half of our games our D was a bottom 4 D? Or to frame it with your context, We have a bottom 4 scoring D when we play teams with winning records? Yikes.
  14. I disagree. Bringing in a few older guys to set a tone and teach young guys how to prepare and compete can have effects lasting longer that their tenure with the team.
  15. So they weren't good enough to compete with competent teams? Pretty sure I've heard that as a knock on specific players on this board before.
  16. The problem is that the defense was incredibly inconsistent. The average PPG allowed is right there in the middle at 23.6, but they allowed 27 or more points in 8 of their 16 games, and 30 or more in 6 of them.
  17. I agree, and our offense had one of the highest TD percentages per drive, but it didn't happen on that drive. He did lead us to a score and a 3 point lead with 1:20 left in regulation, but that was squandered. Then he got us to a scoring position on the first possession of overtime and the kicker misses his 2nd FG of the day. To use that game as an example of not being clutch is utterly ridiculous, unless you're referring to our D/ST. Our offense as a whole held up their end that day.
  18. Destined for greatness!
  19. True, the best QBs have last names that include first names. Like Brady, Wilson, Ryan, Rodger(s). By this standard we really should only consider Watson and Peter(man).
  20. Chicago appeared to be 50/50 or 60/40 covered to not. Honestly I wish they just kept it in NYC, but I realize that probably comes off as a get off my lawn statement.
  21. Depends who exactly is left on the board, but most likely try to trade back. All of the QBs I would consider successful, save 1 (Flacco), that you listed went 3rd overall or higher, and for a reason. We aren't picking top 3.
  22. Right. I'm certainly not saying he can't be Cousins, I just think Kessler is a lot more reasonable expectation.
  23. I know he's only been around for 3 years, but he's never used a 1st on a school that wasn't in the power 5. In addition, of Whaley's 28 draft picks only 3 have been from the group of 5 (Like Temple). Duke Williams, Randell Johnson, and Dezmin Lewis. Here's a more in depth article about his trends and a bit about McD's potentially as well. Buffalo Bills draft history under Doug Whaley (college edition)
  24. Apply at NFL.com. This feels more accurate.
  25. Makes you wonder who the f these sites employ, eh?
