  1. Yes the media will harp on that one bad throw - not the fact that his stats were the best over the pre season and he produced the most points -
  2. Living here in South Florida - I can tell you most Dolphins do not have a great feeling about RT -
  3. I am happy that we are having a debate about our QB situation. We are in a much better place than the last two years at QB. We can win with all three of theses guys. I like TT and EJ over MC. I would let MC go save on the cap space for MD and keep MS on the practice squad. Living here in South Florida , I listen to some guys love for Ryan Tannehill but here in Miami the fans are not thrilled with him or his new contact $$$. But as an outsider her has shown improvement each year and now has 3 years of starts under his belt - the Dolphins did not give up on him after 14 games. We can afford to keep TT and EJ over the next two years without any cap issues - let them play it out and see who can take it to the next level.
  4. EJ's night in a nut shell. Two miscues by the center- not EJ's fault - he was calling an audible went the ball was snapped into his chest in third down. But not sure he will be given much of a chance with the 1st unit. I would cut Cassel and go with Tryrod and EJ the rest of the way and let them battle it out. Tryrod will not last an entire season healthy - no running QB has ever lasted in the NFL. So EJ is a better option as a #2 than Cassel. Once defenses know Cassel is " Orton" we are not winning playoff games. So let the young and cheaper guys play. If Cassel is our starter we can not resign him and our defensive free agent and Cordy Glenn. There is no real upside with Cassel. Even Simms is more mobile and can run when in trouble.
  5. I usually do not read Rodak and am not a fan of his; but I do think he has some degree of credibility with this story. Remember it was OTAs and mini camp. NOT REAL FOOTBALL. If Cassel is a bust in training camp; if EJ and Tyrod show real progress and if Simms shows some promise then and only in that evet could Cassel be cut. His cap savings alone would be enough to sign Dareus long term. And for Henderson, he better grow up fast and not go back to his U days or he will be looking for a new team. Rex will not take any excuses.
  6. As the Billls are about to start the first mini camp where they are actually simulate football plays - the next three days will have an effect on the decision to draft a QB. If EJ and Matt show nothing, then I assume that a QB will be drafted on day two. If both show a real command of what Greg Roman is installing; then maybe no QB at all or a flier on day three. Will there be enough reps to even make any type of evaluation on these guys? I can only assume that with no 1st Round pick - all FO eyes and coaches will be paying close attention to the progress of EJ and Matt. Let's hope that EJ and Matt really excel and we do not have to draft a QB on day two - I just do not see anything out there worthy of a 2nd or 3rd rounder. It would be such a benefit for Doug and the FO - to really pick the best player on their board or trade down and get extra picks for next year.
  7. Way to go boys - Buffalo here we go all the to the top Go Bills and Sabres - a new Era!!!
  8. I live in South Florida and most Dolphin fans would give you Tannehil in a minute. They hate him here and think he stinks.
  9. If EJ does not start then cut him immediately. But I think he he will win the job clearly. I do not think there will be much of a competition after week two of pre-season games. I am sure they will give everyone a good look in OTA's and training camp. If Tyrod Taylor wins the job he will have improved 1000% ( yes one thousand percent ) over his college days. If Matt Cassel wins the job, we will have a little better QB than Orton and maybe good enough to get into the playoffs and win a playoff game - but not enough to get to the Super Bowl. We need EJ to be the man. Unfortunately - he was so limited by Marrone and coached not to be aggressive, not to throw the ball downfield, not to take any chances - and then he was destroyed by the NFL Defensive Player of the Year - the rest is history. ( by the way Kyle really suck after his first two starts - and the if the receivers did not made some great catches the first he may have sucked from the start. But if we want a QB for the next ten years - we need to hope and pray that EJ is going to work out - if not we have a major issue. He started for two years at FSU and had good number and real good results. So hopefully he can do that here. Go Bills.
  10. Explain how we also would have fit Jimmy Graham under the cap with the moves we have made so far and are continuing to do. The reason the saints moved him was for cap relief.
  11. Under Ralph and Jeff Littman - there was always limits on cash - bonus money up front was always an issue - there was never any creative ways to get things done - even if the FO guys had ideas - and I am sure they did - but you have to have the big cash up front - look at the Shady deal - Drew Is already texting "highest paid RB" and we saved over 4 million agains the cap this year - so both side win. I always felt this FO is fine - and under Kim and Terry they will get things done.
  12. For theses so call experts - blow it out your a--!!!! The bills just opened up cap space for this year. Made their new running back extremely happy and if he gets cut after his third year as a bill he counts less than 3 million agains the cap. This was brilliant by the FO. He is going to play with a chip on his should and will have a great year in 2015. ( a 13 million signing bonus spread out over 5 years. Nothing is guaranteed after year 3. - a 2.6 million cap hit in year 4 and 5 if he gets cut - if he is productive and still playing then pay him the 8.6 million and who cares. His cap number this season goes from 10 million to 5.3 million a no brainier - especially when it's Terry's $$$. Keep up the great work FO.
  13. I can not believe how aggressive the FO has been so far and FA has not even started. Even if you are not happy with the moves - this is not Ralph's Front Office anymore. My only wish now is that OTA's could start on Wednesday. I can only assume that FO has a plan going forward and will do everything they can to improve this roster at any position. They will not spend crazy dollars foolishly but if they target someone - they will get him. They may have wanted McCown, but not at those dollars for 3 years. So Cassel is a better and less expensive option. FO keep up the great work.
  14. Joe B is ok in my book. I will miss him on WGR - as another out of town guy - most of my bills information and bills talk comes from WGR - does anyone know if he will still be doing work for WGR - here in South Florida many of the radio and tv guys double dip and have both radio and tv gigs.
  15. On the day the sale was announced (When he sold the 1.75 B -) at the press conference - he was asked the question about his future in the gas exploration business and he smiled and said " we are not going anywhere and will continue to be a force in the industry" Take that for what it's worth but I think your friend is correct - they have vast holdings in the east and the mountian west.
  16. Assuming that Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon are gone in the first round or early 2nd - do we re sign CJ or draft a RB in round two? My choice at RB would be either Ameer Abdulah or Duke Johnson. I live in South Florida and have seen Duke Johnson for three years both before the injury at Florida State and this year after the injury; he got better each and every week of the season. ( I would love for him to fall into the third round and it would be a no brainier) but we can not gamble at the RB position. So the million dollar question is do we re-sign CJ or go out in the draft and get a RB in the second round? I could live with Ameer or Duke and we would have them at a reasonable cost for the next four years. It means no OL help in the second round and thus probablably no immediate help from the draft in the OL. So we would need to address the OL with another free agent or from within. It would be nice to let the chips fall and then decided but - we do not live in fantasy land and these decisions must be made sooner rather than later. I let CJ walk - if he is looking for big $$$ - if not then resign him and go in another direction in round 2.
  17. We all knew this was coming - no surprise - we all said durin the season. - Mike Williams and Keith Rivers To make some cso room.
  18. It worked real well for Marrone over the last few weeks - so let's start now for the next couple of years and see what happens. I doubt that the Jax O-L coach will be high on anyone's list. good luck.
  19. It does not matter what anyone says now- all QB's on the roster prior to the start of the season - will be given a chance to win the job in mini camps and training camp. I do not think Rex or any of the coaches care who wins the job. They just want a viable option who can help this team win games. At this point in time - No one is going to come out and say the job is EJ's or any other QB' s. - we do not have a proven commodity at QB and we will not be able to get one - it will only be a collection of "other guys" - there is not going to be a Brady, Rodgers or any top QB available. So as the Bills have said before " bring in a few options" and let the competition begin. Even a trade will bring in only an average QB at best. There will be no knight in shinning armor. I think this staff will allow each QB to play in a system that his friendly to his strengths as opposed to the Marrone system - of " my way or the highway". You can not force the squard peg into the round hole and that was Marrone's philosophy. It is unfortunate that the CBA rules do not allow EJ and any other QB's - the option to work with Roman and Lee sooner rather than later. Hopefully we can sign two veteran QB's and let the competition begin.
  20. Pagac still needs a job - so say nothing at all as most coaches have done or say smothering nice. No other options.
  21. Media = misinformation - It's just that simple - spin it any way you want with no accountability to anyone.
  22. The guy has a great agent - got him the title of " assistant head coach / offensive line coach. Thank you for putting in that opt out clause. You saved Pegula's 4 million dollars and made the whole organization a happier place to work. Enjoy the OL in Jax. Maybe in a couple of years his name will come up again for a head coaching position - but I doubt it. His reputation will precede him for a long time.
  23. Who were the QB coaches for Dan Marino, John Elway, Jim Kelly, Payton Manning, Tom Brady, Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers- it does not really matter. If EJ has "it" he will succeed if not he will be looking for a new team after next season. All that said a system can help or hurt a QB. The system under Marrone would have hurt any average QB and maybe even limited good QB's. Marrone came in here saying all the right things - up tempo- fast pace- but ultimately went with no downfield throws - short dump offs and never taking any chances - " limit mistakes at all costs" and punting is a good thing. With that type of mindset it's no wonder why Orton decided to retire. Even Orton must of felt Marrone was useless. Bring in two QB's plus EJ and may the best man win. Let them play to their ability and strengths. Let them play ball and not be afraid to take chances.
