  1. If it's only about the money he walks - he will get more elsewhere. But if he wants a long term deal that pays him very well and wants to play on a great defense with great players - then we have a chance to resign him. Any idea who his agent is?
  2. He is back for 2015 and unless someone hires Jim Schwartz the staff will remain the same. Marrone did a nice job of hiring Schwartz, but also the other Defensive assistants as a result of the Pettine departure. We need an upgrade at two positions Guard and QB. That alone will make a huge difference. There are no great options at QB unless we draft a lesser commodity who turns out to be GOLD. Not likely. So we must improve our offensive line - PERIOD!!! Now the next question - is it Kyle, EJ or someone else? I believe Kyle gives us no better chance of winning than EJ - I would rather see EJ in there because of his athletic ability - Kyle can not get out of his own way. I am not sure this coaching staff sees it that way - but we question accuracy with both EJ and Kyle. Why not go with the better athlete next year? Give them the full offseason and training camp - then equal reps with equal talent and see who can take us to the next level. We can talk about QB free agents all we want but tell me who is any better than what we currently have and at an affordable price? I just do not see anyone out there. Let go Bills - and as always wait til Next Year.
  3. As of now we have 7 picks and no pick in the 1st Round. So QB is out of the questions unless we get lucky. But GUARDS are our most pressing need. They are usually not 1st Round picks anyways - so lets go with GUARD, GUARD , GUARD and maybe GUARD again. Then DB's - because you never have enough BD's. I would look at the OL and nothing else for the first three or picks - college tackles who can play guard, maybe not as quick enough to play tackle in the NFL but big and strong enough to play Guard. Maybe even a Center who could play Guard or a Center who could step in and start and move E. Wood to guard. We all agree that our Defense is good enough to win Championships - and without a "Franchise QB" within our realistic reach - the only possible solution to improve is to upgrade the OL. I look at Cameron Erving at FSU ( a projected possible 1st Round Tackle ) moved to center after 4 games and maybe playing his best football. There are guys out there who fit our needs - it's time for the scouting department and Doug W. to get it done.
  4. All that said - I am not sure we missed Hughes - with the exception of the opening drive in the 3rd Quarter the defense did not really miss a beat while he was not in there. That first drive of the 3rd Quarter has two big runs and two nice passes - not sure if Hughes would have made a difference - but he did play in the 4th Quarter - maybe they wanted to see what the defense will look like next year when Hughes tests the free agency market and hits the jackpot
  5. I agree it's time for a change a QB. I never felt that Orton was anything more than a stop gap solution. There is a reason he has been on five teams in 10 years. I do no want RGIII ( I mean RG ME!!!). Those of you who think Jay Cutler is the answer have not watched the Bears - maybe you should talk to people in Chicago. I am not opposed the trying EJ again. But that decision needs to be made today and all in for the final three games. Let him play with no restrictions. If there is an opening let him run. If he succeeds we all win- if not we are looking for a QB for next season. There is still a silver of hope to salvage the season and we all know Orton is not the long term answer and now not even the short term answer. We should make the change now while the player are still thinking they have a shot - if we wait until the final week - no one cares and their bags are already packed for the off season.
  6. It was not that long age when no one thought Nigel Bradham would ever be a good player or key part of this defense. But now in his third year he is and looks like he will be for a while. I do not know whether EJ will be a good starting QB in this league or not - but time will tell. Why would you trash him based on the Gruden article about RGiii there is no parallels there RGiii is an egotistical me guy - I have never heard anyone say that about EJ - it is usually just to opposite - I wish the best for him and the Bills
  7. The best thing about Mike Williams is the fact that when cut in the offseason he clears up 6 million is cap space.
  8. Since Doug Whaley has been the GM the practice squad has undergone significant turnover throughout the season - if a player does not show anything after a couple of weeks he is gone and a new guy is added.
  9. Hughes is the man "in Buffalo" - he will command big bucks on the open market - but he is the benefactor of three pro bowl defensive lineman. If he goes elsewhere his agent better get him an enormous signing bonus because I do not think he will ever live up to expectations anywhere else. He fits our defensive scheme perfectly and if he does not have a Mario, Dareus and Kyle along side him, as a smaller defensive end he will not a major factor. Just look at his career in Indianapolis. I hope he stays here and get a big signing bonus and big bucks on a long term deal - because here in Buffalo he will see the end of that deal - elsewhere he may be a cap cut after a couple of seasons.
  10. It was embarrassingly bad. Missed throws - over throws - under throws - did anyone really think Orton was the answer? He is a journeyman at best. Maybe not even as good as Fitz.
  11. No it's a violent game at an incredible pace with world class athletes. By the time most veteran players retire they have played the game for over 20-25 years. The head/brain injuries and consequences will always be there. If players start to retire by the age 28-30 - which will not happen - you may see a significant reduction in the number to these types of injuries. But we all know the almighty DOLLAR is more important.
  12. This is an incredible outpouring of support for one of our own. This is why we are ONE BUFFALO. Do not stop showing your support - keep those donations going. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and has has Merry Christmas and Great Holiday Season.
  13. As of now Dareus will count approximately 8 million against the cap. Give him a couple million more per season and lock him up long term. We cut Mike Williams and save 6.8 million per season and take no cap hit - no dead money - give that plus a few more million to Hughes. The cap is going up approximately 10 million or more. We can do this and still have room to re-sign CJ. Do not give Orton another dime over his current salary and if he opts out good luck to who ever gives him more than what he is getting here. If he does opt out - there is another 5.5 million is cap space available. A Keith River cut would also save 1.7 million. As of now for 2015 - the dead money against the cap is approximately 1.8 million so we are is great shape with the cap. Let go Bills and re- sign our Guys.
