McCoy and Harvin's production this year
Thrivefourfive replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what I figured. Punts are a dangerous thing. Ask Welker. However, if Harvin isn't pulling his weight, throw him out there. There's way more of a chance that he makes an impact on punts than on kickoffs, especially when the weather is good and the K balls are sailing through the uprights. -
McCoy and Harvin's production this year

Which means you probably can't touch any of them because they may all be hit or miss from weeks 1-16. McCoy is the only Bill that starts the season as a must start in fantasy. If healthy, he should stay there. Good owners will have options better than Sammy to start the season, and that's all because of the QB and heavy run scheme. I can see Buffalo trying to rush the ball 45+ times against the Colts. Hopefully though, Sammy's talent wins out and he dominates 10 or so games this season, making him a must start in a flex league. Clay, Woods, Jackson...no way, unless injuries to McCoy, Watkins, and Harvin. Is Harvin returning kicks? Punts? The Bills defense is a must start to open the season, even with Luck. If Harvin is in the return game, that's a fantastic bonus for the fantasy unit. My site ranks them numero uno. -
McCoy and Harvin's production this year

McCoy is projected in that area over all. Harvin has always been a risk. A few years ago he paid off big time for the first half of the season. Then...injuries. I have pick 3 in my big league, and I won't be taking McCoy because Buffalo. Watkins would be the only Bill I'd touch but he would have to be the right price. At some point his talent has to produce numbers. Staking him as a number 2 wr after three strong rbs would be a good scenerio. -
These are blurbs from the fantasy football perspective. It may not mean much for NFL wins and loses, but it's insight from someone who studies player production closely, and has a good track record for predictions. In case you don't have a subscription, some of the article is below. http://www.fantasyguru.com/football/subscribers/articles/2015overvalued.php Overvalued LeSean McCoy (Buf, 13 ADP) – Look, it’s very clear McCoy is going to get a ton of touches. The Bills traded young (albeit recently injured) star Kiko Alonso to the Eagles for him, and then signed him to a new deal. The Bills have publicly expressed their desire to limit Fred Jackson’s snaps, and Jackson himself has said he expects McCoy to get 300 carries this year. Here are the problems beyond that: First of all, McCoy is moving from a Philly line that was inconsistent but all-around solid blocking for the run last year, to a Buffalo line that wasn’t. And McCoy himself was ineffective on a per-touch basis in Philly last year, especially as a receiver, where his nose-dived from 52 catches and 10.4 YPR in 2013 to 28 catches and 5.5 YPR in 2014. McCoy was also ineffective in goal-line situations, where he fell out of favor to Chris Polk and even Darren Sproles late last season. If you’re all about volume and think McCoy is bound to rebound, especially since he’s just 27, you could certainly be right. But in addition to the issues outlined here, we also have some concerns about his leading the NFL in touches the last five seasons, and also how he’ll react to running behind a FB, which for McCoy may not be a good thing, since he’s a creator more than a guy who likes things defined. Otherwise, we believe there are enough red flags to pass up McCoy for younger backs (Jeremy Hill, C.J. Anderson) or frankly better-bet receivers at his mid-June 12.8 ADP in a 12-team PPR league. Avoid Percy Harvin (Buf, 114 ADP) – Harvin hasn’t been a reliable fantasy player since leaving the Vikings in 2012, but he’s still being drafted like he’s a difference maker. Harvin wants to be more of a traditional WR in Buffalo instead of the gadget role he’s played for most of his career. Of course, carries and non-traditional touches have been a big help to his fantasy value, so that could hurt his fantasy value. Harvin also joined a team that has a big-time WR in Sammy Watkins, in addition to RB LeSean McCoy and their newest signing, TE Charles Clay. Add in a checkdown QB like Matt Cassel, and it’s hard to get excited about Harvin’s prospects in Buffalo. We can’t expect any consistency out of Harvin, and we also can’t expect him to play 16 games either with his injury history, so he’s not worth a look. We’ve been down on Harvin for years running now (after loving him early in his career), and while we weren’t correct in 2012, we eventually were that year, since he missed half the season.

There's a flip side to that coin... What does that say about McCoy? The talk about Chip Kelly or any NFL coach being racist is much harder to believe than the fact that McCoy was gladly traded by the Eagles because of personality conflict, not racism. (The wr should have been cut btw. He embarrassed the human race, and should have been left for the desperate, needy, and morally declined.)

I couldn't agree more with the OP. If he isn't a top back this year, and helps this team win, the Bill should cut ties. He has acted like an a$$ in a very short amount of time.

Bills Teammates Rave about Tyrod Taylor
Thrivefourfive replied to RyanTalbotBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know why I got this sudden burst of optimism, but if EJ will just take 500 snaps/dropbacks/and passes each day every day,, no matter what his mechanics, he'll become more accurate. It doesn't matter if his arm falls off, cause it won't matter if the thing hanging from his shoulder is still a dumb bomb. -
When Ed Reed stripped the ball from his own fat lineman in college and then ran for a touchdown, he showed us what a ballhawk he really is. Woodson, you can't do much better. He's a 1st ballot all the way.

Totally lost me here. The team that Cassel took over in 08 (and I don't want even want to get into how there was no pressure on him at all due to the freak Brady injury) was 18-1 the previous season and broke every offensive passing record worth anything. You really think this Bills offense is better than that??? You think the Bills offensive line is better? You think the Bills WRs are better? You think Cassel is better this day, than back then? You think the coach is better, including Tom Brady as an offensive assistant? Do the Bills have better leadership?...Belicheck, Harrison, Thomas, Bruschi, Light, Koppen, Mankins, Faulk, Morris, Merriweather, Moss, Wilfolk, Brown, Vrabel, Seymour, BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Jarvis Green! Sorry, but Holy Cow!! McCoy....that's it. He's better. Oh well.

Bills fans! I implore you, listen to and look at this man speak. He is a slow adult. I am not sure what's worse...the stupidity of Adrian Peterson, or debating and carrying on about his words and actions. The proper institutions need to address his mental status. Defending or attacking him is below us. The debate about culture and actions of the Vikings and the NFL are good talks. Peterson though?...garbage time.

Bills' Organized Team Activities: May 26-29
Thrivefourfive replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We won't, and shouldn't, know that decision until preseason time heats up. But every qb on that roster knows exactly where they stand with Greg Roman. This is the NFL and men will deal with that just fine. If he tells Cassel he's currently third, then Cassel needs to do something about it. Same goes for the other guys. -

Upcoming 30 for 30 on Bills Super Bowl run in 90s
Thrivefourfive replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"This is a team, dammit!" -Darryl Talley. I hope it focuses on those huge personalities, and the city's unique good things. But most of all, let's rehash some love for the home field advangement. It was the toughest stadium to play for any opponent in the league for a nice stretch of years. The crowd and the conditions coupled with a blitzkrieg offense and Bruce Smith made The Rich an abosute nightmare for the likes of some of the greatest QBs of all time - Marino, Elway, Moon, and Montana. And of course, use this 30 for 30 to get Tasker in the Hall! -

Bills fall to 19 in ESPN Post Draft Rankings
Thrivefourfive replied to IronyAbounds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It has not been this clear for the Bills in a long time. With their quarterback play, goes the season. I believe Roman will build a competant o-line for the running game and pass protection. All of the other positions rate above average, like receiver, to near the league best at runningback and d-line. If Cassel plays out of his mind, the Bills are 11-5, 12-4. If he plays better than expected, probably 10-6. And if he plays like Matt Cassell, it's 9-7, 8-8, or disaster. He's not very good I'm afraid, and the Bills won't make the playoffs. How many playoff teams in the past five years had a not very good quarterback... Sanchez and Dalton, and Dalton's regular season numbers have been solid for the most part. -
I'd rather have a caveman as the Bills QB who chose not to attend a primadona social bro-fest than a questionable talent who the Bills universe are looking at to lead them to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years . My god, he used to hold the clipboard for the absolute, unquestioned sworn enemy of the state. They were teammates in the NFL for a few years...one of them played, the other admired. Screw Cassel for doing this I say! Bad form.

The trade that obviously helps this team the most is for the quarterback position. Like Philly and STL showed us, you have to have a quarterback to trade for a quarterback. The Bills do not have such player currently on the roster. The other option, one that the Bills could do, is to trade some talent/picks for a backup where the franchise guy is solid for years to come. I believe there's a unique type of quarterback guru with scouting/knowledge needed to pull this off. And I do not believe the Bills currently have such a person either. Last resort(?) is the Bills will wooo a solid free agent in the offseason. This free agent scenerio would be very unique if we're talking a fanchise QB, as they usually always re-sign with their teams. The teams already have too much invested in them not to bring them back. Andrew Luck would be such a case, because the Colts have proven that they cannot surround their franchise quarterback who's in their prime with a comparably worthy roster. But then, the Bills would have to beat out almost every single NFL team to land Luck. But then there's the free agent who is good enough to WIN A SUPER BOWL with this talented team. He could be out there next year. I don't know. But I know it's not Cassel. I don't think we're going to like him very much after he shows us what he's got. Hope I have to eat those words. Two types of quarterbacks: 1. The franchise guy; and 2. The good enough free agent. The Bills want both. The the Bills will probably be drafting their franchise guy. So get some quarterback people on this job asap. Don't make TBD do it for you. In the mean time, sign a good enough to with the super bowl free agent in early 2016. This is your course, Buffalo.

A thread on draft party opinions. I'll go first: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu - very family oriented, and grandma(?) has attitude (saw her swat away the fact that Ifo hasn't been drafted yet!) Added bonus, I saw him play in high school several times since he went to school down the street from where I live. Comment on a draft party...
