NFL needs to create a spring developmental league at the very least with maybe 8 to 12 teams, in USA in smaller markets, playing about 10 games. Other leagues have a minor league system. Maybe creating a full minor league system, where each team has a developmental roster playing games on Saturdays in small venues around the country would be better, Teams could call players up and send them back down. Practice squads are nice but having a full roster of 45 other players playing in the minors would allow teams greater opportunities to fully develop players. You put rules into place which would prevent other teams from stealing your developmental players but also protect a player opportunity to play in the show. If the league doesn't starting thinking differently, they will eventually run into a true QB crisis. They have a disturbing trend now.

Satan (an no I don't mean Miroslav) can play QB if he can get us an 11-5 record and a playoff berth. next season after seeing the postseason we can hope for someone less evil. Go Tyrod, may the wins follow your leadership!

To me, Cassel should be the #2 guy. He's a veteran more capable of coming off the bench and helping. However, if TT is injured, EJ starts the next week and Cassel stays as that veteran backup needed.

After watching the race for QB, I think Tyrod Taylor has clear won the job. He moves the team consistently. I personally am worried about the red zone but Tyrod has that added benefit of his willingness to use his feet. EJ Manuel has looked good and he is far more willing to throw the ball up the field and try to make plays than Cassel. I can't see getting released after the way he played. Yes his one incompletion was a terrible throw but he threw some really great ball last, plus he bring great athleticism to the table. The big question becomes, is this coaching staff willing to take a risk and save $5.5 million of cap space and let Matt Cassel go?I don't know what they gain from that move and likewise I am not sure what they lose in having a veteran work with Taylor and Manuel. The NFL is cold and when teams can make a move to save money they almost always do so. Whatever, they do, I think it is safe to say that with all the offensive available, if this offense can't produce 20+ points per game, we will all be disappointed. What do you think, is Cassel going to have a job in two weeks?

What if EJ comes out and plays well? He doesn't light it up, maybe leads a decent drive follow by a scoring drive, you know a dropped pass from another 1st down, a missed throw for a TD which ends up as a FG, you know, all the stuff we have seen before from him and the others. I'm so glad you take into account the total lack of talent around him last night. 1. Did the O-line block for the guy on most snaps? 2. Was there ANY running game? At least TT had an O-line that blocked and opened up a couple of holes. It would only be fair to allow EJ some first team time but that's is unlikely to occur as it's pretty obvious TT will be the starter, Cassells is the veteran backup and EJ will likely be released.
