  1. no, I certainly never said that. Taxes are necessary to transfer resource claims from private sector to public. The government can't spend $3 trillion without reducing private claims, otherwise it's inflationary. Excess spending over taxes is a different story. You don't seem to understand the "Chinese thing." We don't borrow from china, rather, they choose to buy US securities to prevent the yuan from appreciating against the $ to protect their largest export market. I do agree with you statement about the GOP. It's a really bad plan, especially at this stage of the business cycle.
  2. Trump is pro-Trump, nothing more nothing less.
  3. What you describe leads to higher stock prices. Jobs increase as a response to increased sales. tax cuts influence job creation if those cuts are targeted at those who buy things, not assets.
  4. Two wrongs don't make your question right... First, the Chinese are making a choice to purchase US paper in return for continuing to sell their goods to US consumers at "current prices." They accumulate $s through their trade surplus with US, and rather than sell those $s for yuan and cause the dollar to depreciate against it--which would make their goods more expensive, they CHOOSE to purchase US assets to keep the exchange rate stable. We get their cheap stuff and they get an IOU that can gives them other pieces of paper at some future date. Second, have you paid back any of the government debt that was issued when your parents were working? It never has to be paid back. Just like a corporation that can live forever does, US debt is rolled over as it matures. As the safest and most liquid market in the world, US debt is in high demand by financial institutions, wealthy investors, sovereign wealth funds, et al. As long as the US debt-to-GDP ratio doesn't get out of hand--though no one (not even Rogoff) knows what that means, the debt never has to be paid off. Now, if Trump's tax plan causes trillion dollar deficits when we're not in a recession, then it's time to worry...but not for the reasons you stated...
  5. On the other hand, and to bring up an old debate, "this style of winning is not sustainable." I see one game left on the schedule that should be a given win--Indy. Every other game will be tight, even the Jets. If the breaks don't go the Bills way, they can easily lose more than they win the rest of the way. While I'm optimistic about the way this team plays and is coached, it's still too soon to say they will break the drought.
  6. Fixing the cap situation is a big motivation in their moves. Wont be surprised if Glenn is moved.
  7. thanks for posting that. I look forward to the release.
  8. Steely Dan was my first concert and band, so when Walter Becker recently passed it was emotional in a nostalgic way. This was so different because he shared his impending death with his fans. I think That last televised concert struck a deep emotional chord with not just his hardcore fans, but also with those of us who only saw them a few times. RIP Gord.
  9. Correct. fixing the cap mess is one of the main factors underlying the dareus and Glenn trade rumors.
  10. getting Mathews back would help a lot, but those are both winnable home games.
  11. Realistically, we're talking about the ability of the offense, which really depends on whether they play at home or on the road. Of the 6 remaining home games, they can realistically win 5, losing to the Pats (while we might hold them to 20 points, we won't score 20). Of the road games, they have a chance for 3 out of the 5, losing to KC and the Pats as you said. If they win 2/3, that would put them at 10 wins. I think that's the rosiest scenario at this point.
  12. I'm not sure if that was the play where it looked like the safety bit On the play fake or not? There were several big plays where it seemed the bills got caught expecting run.
  13. Even though the D kept them in this game, it was clear they really missed Gaines out there.
  14. Sounds very similar (and almost same physical stats) to some guy named Shaq Thomson from the Panthers...
  15. I was too. It's too bad he didn't get the chance to develop here, rather than being forced right into the starting role. I think he will be a starter somewhere eventually. Nice summary. Fans tend too often to irrationally dump on players once they've moved on. Now, if he starts against the Bills, that's another story...
  16. I thought he did very good coming for Carr last week in a tough situation. He gave them a chance.
  17. it would be a good time to try and get him more involved, as he is a bit of hybrid TE/WR.
  18. it seems the model used by sports writing is (was?) good cop-bad cop. One or more stuck to writing on football, and someone else always tried to stir up controversy.
  19. My opinion of the new Bills from the beginning was they would battle and compete in every game. I was totally unsure of how many games they could win, though, suggesting they would win somewhere between 5-10 games.
  20. That's why I like to follow different groups. It's amazing what people think and post, from both sides. More important, trying to discern their sources. Nothing worse than someone's post starting with "I heard...."
  21. Thanks. I belong to a right-wing Facebook group (just to see what the crazies think about all kinds of topics AND to confuse FB as to my profile) and someone posted it there. It seems to initially coincide with the gunfire, but there is a segment where it does not.
  22. One thing I hope someone can do is shed light on the video taken from a taxi driver that appears to show someone shooting from (around) the 4th floor. Is there some rational explanation for what this appears to be and debunk any conspiracy theories? http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-10-03/was-there-second-shooter-vegas
  23. The most important move made during offseason, not signing Gilmore. Combined with McD's eye for finding talent that matches his scheme and personality, bodes well going forward.
  24. as the secondary acknowledges, the guys up front are making their job easier, and Hughes is the #1 reason. As McD says, "just 1 of 11..."
  25. The Bengals are a top 5 D currently. Now that their O is playing better, this will be another tough road game.
