Alexandria, The New Direction Of The Democrats

As I told you before, the DNC and HRC are not "liberals." Bernie and Ocasio represent the liberal left, which is my territory.... -

As I started with, had this been a white male, then the DNC would've ignored it. What does "socialism for all" mean? -

As I started out with, we choose to spend trillions on endless war and dysfunctional advanced weaponry. We also currently spend more on healthcare than any other advanced country. It’s more a policy choice than a financial choice. -

Would you describe current supply as free market? to your point, like any market, you can’t create a ****-load of demand without consequences. I’m sure a system could be designed to phase it in over time. One example being pushed is to expand Medicare, lowering the eligible age e.g. -

The point I was responding to is that socialism impoverishes countries. Are they poor? Are the many countries with universal healthcare and higher tax rates than the US poor? -

I don't want them providing health care either, but I do want them to provide insurance. -

In the richest country in the world, the so-called "socialists" are people who push policies in support of the poor and working class. In the current system, the wealthiest have used their influence to push policies in support of their interests. Universal healthcare, cheap tuition, childcare, job guarantee, etc. are not radical ideas, and they are no less doable economically than endless ME conflicts, 800 overseas military bases, the F-35, and on and on.... -
Adolphus Washington not up for trade, per McBeane
TPS replied to BuffAlone's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I imagine they'll want to keep 5 too. While I don't remember much from Washington, which is neither bad or good, he had a decent statistical season relative to KW. He had 250 fewer snaps and had 33 TT vs KW's 41. He had 4 TFLs vs KW's 1. Kyle had him 3-1 in sacks. In his third season, he could have a nice little breakout that makes us realize he is worth keeping. We'll see. -

She comes from the Bernie wing. Had it been another white male, the DNC would've ignored the win. Also, her policies of "democratic socialism" are mostly what the Nordic economies and much of Europe follow, such as universal healthcare. They don't seem to be starving... -
Point taken.

Schneiderman was never governor. Again, I'm not defending his transgressions; however, had he not been one of the most vocal critics of the Iraq war, he would've simply been some unknown perv who likes to masturbates in front of young girls.... His transgressions certainly do take the focus off of those more important things he "exposes...."
-
I've read the details about this online incident with a 15-year old girl. I certainly won't defend him, but I will say, as one of the few critics of Bush2's drive for war with Iraq, there is no doubt he was targeted, much like a former AG/Governor of NY. It tends to happen to those who criticize the power structure....

https://www.truthdig.com/articles/indictment-of-12-russians-under-the-shiny-wrapping-a-political-act/ Ritter's take on the indictment and its timing. Interestingly, many here, who now distrust the IC, disparaged this guy when he tried to expose the wmd in Iraq BS. . On the other hand, those in the hysterical camp willl now lump me in the traitor category....

Rep. Joe Crowley beaten by a Bernie nobody
TPS replied to Golden Goat's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
JSP, I hope this helps you understand the difference between the left (Bernie) and “the left” (hrc). enjoying all the gnashing of teeth it’s causing among the right here. ? except for the idiot who advocated violence. This is how democracy works, it ebbs and flows between the left and right, and sometimes the extremes of each. -

I'm not saying he was a culture problem, it's that he didn't embody the culture McD looks for. If you don't, then the odds are you are a goner.. For example, Watkins made some comment after the trade about his lack of team focus, or something related. We know Dareus had issues. Darby probably didn't rock the boat, rather he didn't embody the qualities McD looks for. As I recall in reading about the trade, Mathews was described as a hard worker and great locker room guy. The only thing you read about Darby was his skill set. Had Darby been a McD-type of guy off the field, I doubt he would've been traded.
-
So Watkins and Dareus weren't scheme fits either? They continue to show people the door who do not fit their culture. If the Eagles initiated the trade, then I'd agree on that being the main element. Any idea?
-
Good for him. It doesn't change the fact that he isn't a McD-type player, which is why he, Dareus, Watkins, et al. were unloaded. Hell, I hate this thought, but Dareus could get a ring in the next year or two too...
-
He wasn’t a process kind of guy either, and I mean that in the broadest McD sense.

I’m going to lose my ****. Taking questions ...

There are a lot of good responses so far, so I’ll give you a slightly contrarian take with the caveat that trying to time the market is dicey even for professionals. First, my hemming and hawing, then a suggestion. I’m on record here for predicting a recession before the next presidential election. In my view, as you correctly state, the market is currently being whip-sawed by the trade issues and other temporary factors. There is certainly a lot of anxiety right now, and I won’t be surprised if something happens to trigger a big sell off. On the other economic hand, there will be a good move up when this is resolved. I think it’s safe to assume if there is a big drop over trade, Trump will acquiesce. The midterm elections are too important for him moving forward. What I’m trying to say is, so far all of the factors affecting the market in the near term are temporary and trying to time it with a big move isn’t wise. The suggestion. If anything, and this is what I’ve done recently, get Some of your portfolio liquid (maybe highly volatile stocks), to create a more conservative position AND give you the liquidity to jump back in when there is a big move down—to take advantage as Tom said. Given my prediction, at some point next year I will get very defensive. The key will be to watch the Fed’s reaction to economic growth, especially wage gains. To end, this site has been helpful in the past, especially with all of our discussion on 2008. By summer, I was 80% cash, which helped me avoid the Lehman-related crash in a big way. Good luck!
