  1. You really have no idea of how fringey your obsessions are.
  2. And again: that’s where local parents, librarians, and school boards come into play. Not some pompous politician seeking attention.
  3. It is almost as if more than a decade of loose money coupled with a moratorium on student loan repayments and other things caused a huge run-up in housing prices. We demand a bubble!!! https://www.theonion.com/recession-plagued-nation-demands-new-bubble-to-invest-i-1819569940
  4. That’s admirable, and I hope it works. I’m just skeptical that we can keep the kids from being exposed to these things. And the books people decry, even if graphic, are far, far less damaging than the images almost all kids are exposed to online whether their parents “allow” it or not.
  5. I’m glad we agree on something. Now go ahead and talk about The Phantom Pipe Bomb. Isn’t that on the classics list too?
  6. Given that Hillary was hiding a horrific brain bleed (she almost fell getting into a car!) and apparently died in right after the election, I’d say Biden passed away in 2019. (You guys are easy to manipulate)
  7. Exactly what percentage of Americans has any idea who “Ray Epps” is? 10? 5? Oh, yeah, what a COLOSSAL GARLAND MISTAKE! Hint for those who really need one: No. One. Cares.
  8. I would like to see only 2 point conversions. The PAT is the dullest play in football.
  9. He won reelection/beat back a recall with about 60% of the vote. Californians seem to like him! I don't, but I'm not a Californian.
  10. I have no idea what this has to do with funding. If you like this kind of top-down stuff ("we give you the money, we dictate what you can do!") you are presumably all for federal DOE control too. Leave local communities to decide what's best for them. More irrelevance. The standard curriculum is the standard curriculum, it is not what kids read when they check out books from a school library.
  11. I've said it before here. Several times. I believe it is a LOCAL issue to be decided by every LOCAL community. Not by Ron DeSantis. I have no problem with LOCAL school boards and library committees deciding what books are available in their libraries and what age/grade restrictions they place on circulation. Miami Beach is not Sarasota is not Tallahassee.
  12. Can Spencer Brown ever pancake an edge rusher? Can Deonte Harty ever break free beyond the line of scrimmage? Can Dalton Kincaid ever catch a pass beyond the sticks? (Those should help us next week!)
  13. It is kinda risk-free for Newsom. He gets his name out there, gets to take on DeSantis AND Hannity (what a fearless warrior!) and there's really no downside. For DeSantis, it just seems a bit desperate. Trump has sucked out all of the oxygen on the Republican side, leaving him to do whatever he can to get attention.
  14. Depends on what you call "pornographic books," doesn't it?
  15. No, only 91 percent at age 14. There's 9 percent who have to rely on spanking it to library books. https://childmind.org/article/when-should-you-get-your-kid-a-phone/
  16. I have no idea why they are doing this, or why Fox (with Hannity? Really?) is hosting it. My hope is that it is continuously ridiculed and these 2 slip into the obscurity they so richly deserve.
  17. This thread obviously inspired Cook to start breaking tackles. So who's gonna start the "can Gabe Davis ever get yards after a catch" thread?
  18. This is the game CBS is giving me on Sunday instead of Bills-Dolphins. I said I was giving up Sunday Ticket (lots of non-Sunday afternoon Bills games) but this one choice will force me to take out my credit card ...
  19. Exactly my point.
  20. Meanwhile, the leading rushers in those years: 2022 Josh Jacobs 2021 Jonathan Taylor 2020 Derrick Henry 2019 Derrick Henry 2018 Ezekiel Elliott It's possible that McCaffrey will break the pattern this year, leading the league in rushing (or at least combined rushing/receiving by a RB) and actually win something ....
  21. McKenzie, Hines, Harty - someone (Beane? McD? Daboll/Dorsey?) is kind of obsessed with these guys. Other than a couple games where McKenzie excelled (mostly as a more traditional slot receiver) we really haven't gotten much out of any of them on offense.
  22. I only caught the very end of Hadl's career. Loved that guy. The list of freely available veteran QBs is pretty bad. I hear Carson Wentz, but I think he's run out of chances. Nick Foles if he feels like playing again? That would almost certainly be better than Zach Wilson ...
  23. I still have to wonder why the Jets thought going into the season with a 39 year old starter with Zach Wilson as his backup was a good idea. With the talent on defense and some offensive skill positions, they could be a playoff team with some Teddy Bridgewater type at QB. It now seems too late.
  24. I just don't see many classic run-stuffing big MLBs in the NFL anymore. Brandon Spikes is a thing of the past. I would expect Belichick to run heavy sets against us, but that's just as much about them not having a good passing attack and doing the best with what they have.
