  1. Rich buffoon bangs hooker. A decade later decides he's running for President. Uses "alternative media" to plant fake stories about opponents. Furiously tries to cover up past antics by paying off people, making use of same trash media. Shocks himself by winning. Goes back a year or two later to pay back his sleazeball lawyer. Has accountant falsify books to cover up what the payment was for. Loses reelection bid. Refuses to just go away like Jimmy Carter or Bush 41. Wants revenge! Gets prosecuted for old scam crimes. End of the Republic!
  2. Can I opt for the tiny off-the-grid house when I retire? Some of those Tuff Shed models are pretty swanky now. 150 square feet of pure style
  3. Here's a thought: maybe it's not the end of the Republic. Maybe if young men (and face facts, we're talking about men) with political aspirations learn that they will be prosecuted for breaking the law even though they are well-connected, there will be a new class of politicians who don't treat the law as nonbinding guidance. Venue changes are extremely rare, and are based on pre-trial publicity in a particular district that could be addressed by moving the trial elsewhere. Where could we have moved OJ's trial? Trump's trial? Were the prospective jurors of WDNY (Buffalo) unaware of who this Trump fellow is and what people say he's done or been wrongfully accused of doing? Such motions are not based on how the district's populace voted in the last election.
  4. I agree. I remember the time when she was a refreshing fairly even-handed sub for blowhard Olbermann. I don't like watching commenters when you know that they won't ever diverge from the official script. Why bother? It's like reading posts from Ol' Tarheel.
  5. The jurisdiction always matters. The judge always matters. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
  6. No wonder all those hedge fund managers and Black Rock CEOs are lining up for Biden
  7. Protesters (are they paid?) waving a "Trump or Die" flag. Let's make the choice easy for them.
  8. First they came for the gold fixtures, and I didn't complain because I have no gold fixtures ...
  9. Core inflation is 2.7% YOY. That's way lower than pretty much any period in modern history other than the post-great recession period.
  10. For a self-admitted prude, Ol' Tarheel seems pretty obsessed with pr0n.
  11. You didn't catch the best bit, something something about you say it's sunny and it's raining ... (and then they prosecute you for perjury I guess) Hey, nobody gonna make you lie except yourself! What are you, Mike Flynn?
  12. Hey, they got Al Capone on tax charges. Trump takes no questions. Rambles for nearly an hour. Dementia Don?
  13. You will see exactly how nutso some people - even people who function as more or less reasonable commenters on the football side - really are.
  14. Exactly. And I'm a realist. If he had just slinked back to Mar-a-Lago and continued selling condos to sheiks I don't think he would've been prosecuted. But no, like Napoleon he just had to come back for more. Shakespeare knew how these things end.
  15. How often do high-priced big law partners like Todd Blanche leave their law firms to represent one criminal client?
  16. Toned down the Orange Glo this morning. Starts off with immigration. Greatest Hits!
  17. My quick take: Look it up. I never liked the idea of this prosecution. I thought it was ill-advised for various reasons, although I conceded that the legal theory was tighter than I imagined when the indictment was first issued. But the process was small-f fair, in that it was the process any criminal defendant gets. If you don't like that a prospective jury pool is liberal in NYC, well, then change your HQ to Palm Beach. Capital F "Fair" in a global sense? Well, sure. Argue about that all you want. In my experience I have never seen anyone prosecuted on gun possession charges for failing to disclose a drug addiction. Hunter Biden is being prosecuted for that. Sometimes who you are matters in a decision whether or not to prosecute.
  18. I think you mean 1984. And no, I don't think Biden is worried about losing California and New York.
  19. Don't be put off by the insults and attempts to slam the door in your face. This can be a fun and interesting place for an exchange of ideas, snark, etc. It shouldn't be an echo chamber or a place for crazy conspiracy theories to multiply. Welcome!
  20. THIS is what the word "insult" means. @B-Man, do not be afraid of newcomers disturbing your little echosphere. There's a whole world out there to discover.
  21. What insults? We have plenty of insult comics here. Why pick on someone who isn't?
  22. Damn! I better cancel my meeting with that hooker and tell my accountant to recharacterize all those Tahoe travel receipts to "business expenses." So damn hard to stay on the right side of the law these days.
  23. Quick! Change the subject!! Loser Trump is winning somewhere else!!!
  24. Fun! Never knew Pizzagate Jack was out there looking for male and/or female hookups. Now I do. https://www.fastcompany.com/40521433/bumble-bans-alt-right-darling-jack-pobosiec-in-a-very-public-way
