  1. Thank God. Now may his name be forever forgotten by football fans. He deserves to wither away is obscurity.
  2. The video made me bust out in a big smile two or three times. Especially loved Thurman stating his displeasure with Marrone before telling Jim, "I handled it, just like I used to in the locker room." Then they fist bumped. Bring on September, Baby!
  3. Forever to be known as the "Len Bias" guy. One thing you can say for him, it's quite a trick when you can make Shoop wear the optimist hat.
  4. Sad sign of the tines. I had the great fortune to write a newspaper column for 13 years. It was always secondary income for me, but I knew back then that newspapers were on the way out.
  5. All of them (except Jessica Jones) were permanent or occasional members of the Defenders, which was a secret superhero "non- group." The Defenders comic, in the '70s, was darker and grittier than other groups like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. Here's some info on its history and membership: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Defenders_members
  6. Another note: Netflix will also be doing Luke Cage, Iron Fist and AKA Jessica Jones shows then bringing all of them (Daredevil included) back for a Defenders show. Should be really cool. Too bad they can't add the Hulk and Doctor Strange to the Defenders show.
  7. Anyone watching or already marathoned? I watched the first 3 episodes yesterday and am really digging the look and feel of the show. Much better than the horrible dreck with Ben Affleck that butchered the Marvel hero known as the "Man Without Fear." Btw, he still hasn't donned the red suit or employed the billy club at the point I'm at. Was always one of my favorite comics as a kid, can't wait to watch the rest of the episodes.
  8. I thought I read somewhere that the Commissioner would not be in the room, but team reps would be. Considering that some of the teams' odds are 1/2 % points, bingo balls are ruled out. My guess is it will just be Ran on a draft simulator like the one online. I've ran that one numerous times and the Sabres never come up first.
  9. This is totally nuts. One shot dead and another critically injured. Hats off to the police for the restraint they showed in the middle of all of this true madness. http://www.ijreview.com/2015/04/294313-christian-performers-arizona-walmart-get-brawl-cops-now-one-person-dead-reaching-gun/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organic&utm_content=conservativedaily&utm_campaign=Crime
  10. What a great kid. She stood tall and brave in the face of her own mortality and helped turn a spotlight on a disease for others suffering in darkness. RIP Lauren
  11. Hope that's an omen. Btw, still can't believe Nolan pulled the goalie. Imagine the anarchy if the Sabres had scored and sent it to OT. For once, the fans of Buffalo got the big piece of the wishbone.
  12. Woohoo. Freakin' A. McEichel is ours, praise the Lord!!!!
  13. I bought 4 seats in the 8th row for the July show on the season ticket holder pre-sale. Anyone else buy tickets?
  14. The Kinks get my vote. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7ffgqjcH40
  15. Yes, but they are 13-1-1 in their last 15 games. Go Blue Jackets!
  16. The signing of Dean yesterday means that the Bills can sign one of them now and not lose the 6th Rd pick. Surprisingly well-researched and insightful piece by Rodak. Go figure.
  17. As someone who has done it ( and got it to the catcher ) it's a lot more nerve-racking than it appears once you get on the mound. Rex acquitted himself quite well. On a side note: has any coach ever come into Buffalo and immersed and ingrained himself into the culture more than Rex has? He seems to have a deep and profound respect for the history of the Bills and WNY in general. Makes it pretty hard not to love the guy before he's coached even so much as a preseason game.
  18. Both Eichel and McDavid had 2 goals and 1 assist last night. Tonight is the night to ensure that one of them is in blue and gold next season. If the Sabres don't get this done, GMTM will see the fan base do a 180 and the bullseye will be squarely on his back. I trust he's smart enough not to let that happen. Time for him to let his lame duck coach know who is in charge.
  19. I think it was Flash, right?
  20. Definitely Jim's old house. I interviewed him and Jill at the dining room table that is seen in the 3rd or 4th pic. Beautiful property and neighborhood.
  21. This guy nails it: http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/25135420/sabres-fans-would-be-crazy-if-they-didnt-cheer-against-their-team
  22. Correct, also assuming ARI loses all 3 of theirs. Essentially, there are 6 games left combined for the two teams. Any Sabres regulation loss or any ARI regulation win and it's over.
  23. What a great night, first the "stick" goal by the Sabres, then a clutch 3rd period and win by ARI. Just 1 more loss or Yote win seals it. Wow! The horse is in the barn.
  24. What an amazing ending to the Sabres game. Jonathan Freaking Toews is my new favorite player in the NHL. Yotes score to make it 2-1 in the 2nd. Maybe there's hope for them to steal a point from SJ.
  25. ^^Contrary to popular rumor, he did not kill Mama Cass.
