It was on my normal travels, but I guess I may have to plunk down the extra $6. -

Has anyone been able to buy the Hockey News with Eichel on the cover anywhere in WNY? I've looked in a half dozens stores with no luck. It can be ordered online, but with a $6 shipping charge. If you've found it, please let me know where. -
I hope Tig made it out okay.

"Babcock visited Buffalo last weekend prior to making the trek to the Czech Republic. "Now it's believed that the Sabres are putting together a big pitch," Friedman noted." I like the sound of that. When the Pegulas put together a big pitch they usually land their man. -

Whew, based on your thread title I thought the great Harry Shearer had died. It's a shame they can't work things out, his voices are a big part of the show. -
You are always remembered and forever missed by your Bills brothers and sisters, Paul.

The Howard hijacking of threads to pull off a fake old man unfunny bit is getting really old.

Great news about Babcock. I sure hope the Hockeybuzz guy is right, it would be a great hire for the Sabres. -
Nice one Tom.

Recently started a new collection ( because the old two are complete) - vintage metal lunch boxes. My parameters are that they have to be in good to very good condition and have to have the thermos. These are the first two I've purchased.

NHLers, KHLers and Elite European League players. The US squad is the exception, they have more young players than most squads. -

Just wondering if you collect anything? I have a few collections: The first is a collection of every Buffalo team pennant - it hangs in my rec room. Among the rarest are the Buffalo Breskis' professional women's softball team, the Buffalo Norsemen professional hockey team and the Buffalo Royals team tennis pennant. I also have a full collection of the 1973 Looney Tunes drinking glasses that were sold as a promotional item at the old Carrol's Restaurants (now Burger King). How about you, what do you collect?

I really don't put much stock in preseason predictions, but this one has me scratching my head. In the insider piece on the Dolphins becoming the AFC East favorite, if Brady is suspended for any considerable time, they lauded the Dolphins as their pick - mainly due to their FA signings. This is what they said about the Bills: "The Bills last year had a bad offense and a great, underrated defense. Now that Rex Ryan is in charge, they are likely to have a bad offense and a great, properly rated defense." So, an offense that went 9-7 (and was a Bryce Brown goal line fumble away from 10-6) and added Clay, Felton, Incognito, McCoy and Harvin will be worse? Make some sense of that for me, will ya boys?

Give it a try, Charlie Cox totally redeems the character.

Finished the full season last week and just want to report to anyone considering watching that it just may be the best thing Marvel has ever put out (at least on par with Iron Man 1). Great storyline - it is really a 13-hour movie rather than 13 one-hour shorts. The character is dark and nuanced. The supporting cast is terrific. Vincent D'Onofrio reminds you of his greatness as The Kingpin. His character has a compelling back story and he plays it with just the right amount of personal pain mixed with sociopathic disconnect and violence. In the future all Marvel supervillian actors will aspire to match his performance. Oh, and the non-cut fight scenes were things of beauty. Just shows you don't need CGI to make a superhero show look good on the screen. All in all, a tour de force.

Terrific interview. Didn't realize Vince Williams is his older brother. The kid sounds incredibly grounded and truly excited to be playing in Buffalo.

"Future Buffalo Sabres star and Boston University scoring legend Jack Eichel set up Torey Krug and Brock Nelson for the only two USA goals of the game. Eichel was sensational for the Americans. Eichel skated 23 shifts for a combined 16:44 TOI. Watching the 18 year old dominate late twenty and early thirty somethings with his sick skills, excellent skating, man's strength tells me that he is ready to star in the NHL next season. His shovel and dish work on the Nelson goal reminded me of John Tavares and Mike Modano. Seriously, he used his wheels and long reach to strip the puck then instinctively dish it to Nelson for the goal. You can't teach reach. Nor, can you teach fire, desire, and passion. Eichel is a beast. He will be a star in Buffalo for the next decade. All Tim Murray has to do now is put a proverbial ring on Eichel's finger. In due time. Right now, he's busy proving thst he can dominate games played by NHLers and other internatonal professional players. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/GARTHS-CORNER/Eichel-Shines-In-USA-Lopsided-Loss-To-Belarus/6/68484 -

I hope TT wins the job. He can run like the wind and in his introductory interview with John Murphy he kept stressing that he has spent the past four years behind Flacco perfecting his passing and planned on wowing the coaching staff with his arm. So far, it sounds as if he's succeeding.
