  1. Not impressed with this "new look" D.
  2. Facemask penalty was a killer on Brown.
  3. Defense looks unprepared every snap. Offense can't throw more than 10 yards in a play. Not good.
  4. Henderson has done well before against Miami. Let's see what he can do, if he's bad there is now another option.
  5. I have a little job and would not trade with Sammy. I make far less. But I need far less. I also schedule my own day.
  6. I am not talking about you but most of the time when I hear the EJ was a third round talent I shake my head. The Bills draft board did not have him as a 3rd rounder that they drafted in the first round just to make their fans mad. And you don't have the draft boards of the other NFL teams. EJ was thought of by casual fans as a 2nd rounder/3rd rounder 6-7 months before the draft. But just before the draft it was obvious that other NFL teams had him as a late 1st/early 2nd. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000147694/article/mike-mayock-ej-manuel-secondbest-qb-in-nfl-draft Mayock expected him to be drafted in the 1st round after talking to other NFL teams and scouts. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-draft/0ap2000000152068/Mayock-evaluates-Manuel-s-pro-day
  7. You mentioned that EJ was seen by most executives as a 2nd or 3rd rounder. That is what I was talking about. I hear that all the time but there is no evidence for that.
  8. The Bills chance at winning the game if that call was not made was around 95% or more. Their chances went down to 65% or so with one call.
  9. I hope and think you're right. They took over the Sabres and let Regier hang himself. They aren't quick to make changes and they did go through the coaching search with Whaley. I think they got to know him and that can only be a good thing for a guy that everyone assumed was fired when they bought the team.
  10. Right now we're not a playoff team. But I looked at our next 9 games. Only two good offenses left on schedule with Patriots and Cowboys. We get Tannehill (we have his number), Fitzpatrick twice, Alex Smith, Brian Hoyer, Bradford, and Cousins. I think the defense will start to look much improved. We just need to get healthy and get our swagger back. One other thing is Rex seems to do well when he is backed into a corner. I see an us against the world mentality possible as the national media is killing this team right now.
  11. This is completely a made up narrative. I do think EJ was "over-drafted", but not by 2 rounds. Mike Mayock talks to all of the NFL teams and gets a pretty good read on what they see on their board. EJ was a late 1st/early 2nd type. The Bills wanted to make sure they got their guy and so traded back, acquired a 2nd round pick, and then took EJ a bit early. In fact, Mayock mentioned how many teams had EJ as their top QB on their board. It was a year, like others, with disagreement. Cowboys had EJ lower but they also leaked their entire draft board that year. Their draft board had some very questionable players ahead of EJ such as Nassib and Barkley. It looked like the Cowboys were scouting for QB's that had higher floors and lower ceilings as they would be drafting a backup QB. So buyer beware there. Christian Ponder, a worse prospect than EJ, went HIGHER than EJ. That's how NFL drafts go. QB's go early and if you want one you need to take them a bit earlier than you would want because other teams need QB's as well. This is what happened from my viewing of the situation. The Bills did indeed neglect the QB position for many years. Nix was the GM and had Whaley as his GM in training. Nix decided he was going to pull the trigger before he left as he wanted a QB on the team before he left that was drafted. He told Whaley to set up the board. Nix and Whaley scouted the draft heavily and EJ was at the top of their board. He looked like a standard Nix pick as well. Proto-type size. good production, player from the South. So kill Whaley for allowing EJ to be on the top of the board if you want (I don't as that was a bad year for QB's). But Nix made the decision to draft a QB no matter what.
  12. Footbal czar is the dumbest idea ever. If you want to fire Whaley, fire him. What we need is a Quarterback Czar. Get the best NFL scout who has hit on a QB (look at Seattle, Oakland, Minny if they had a scout that ranked their current QB much higher than other NFL teams). Put them in charge of finding QB's. Starting and backup. Leave Whaley where he is.
  13. Where is the bring back Kyle Orton thread?
  14. If Whaley is fired and we hire an inferior GM, that might be the final straw for me. I will take some time off until the Pegulas get it together.
  15. My definition of a lottery ticket is any QB not drafted in the top 5. Mid round QBs in the 1st have a low probability of success. New England has not spent a 1st round pick on a QB recently. The Bills have in 2013. EJ was a lottery ticket. He didn't work. TT was a lottery ticket. TBD.
  16. This. Take care of our business and get a winning streak going. Then we can revisit this. Our season is over without winning 2 out of our next 3.
  17. Carr and Bridgewater were drafted AFTER EJ Manuel in their respective drafts. There were some supporters and detractors for both. I did like what I heard on Bridgewater coming out. But NFL teams do not draft QB's in the first round every year. The team that has drafted the most 1st round QB's recently? The Cleveland Browns. You just don't draft another late 1st round QB after your 1st round QB had a good rookie year and showed promise. After he got benched in 2014, then you can spend a 1st again.
  18. How many 1st round picks have they spent on a QB since Tom Brady became their QB? That was the question. He did. He bought an EJ ticket and is getting killed for it! That was 2013. Since then he has picked up TT, another lottery ticket and will buy another one this off-season if he has to.
  19. I don't see the Pats spending a 1st on a late 1st/2nd round QB. But these are lottery tickets. Sure fire QB's go top 3. Once you are drafting mid 1st and later you are buying a lottery ticket and hoping. I do believe the Bills would have drafted a top QB talent EVEN with EJ if he was there. They would have taken a Tannehill or Newton with EJ on board. But Carr and Bridgewater were not much better rated prospects than EJ. But most fans use hindsight which is 20/20. I would have taken Russell Wilson AND Tom Brady! Sure you would have!
  20. Stop with the moving on from Rex Ryan talk. He's going to be here for 2 years minus a total meltdown. Now I could see the Bills doing something stupid like moving on from Whaley. I can't wait to see the idiots on here defend the new inept GM when they are worse. If you want to upgrade, show us who you have that has a better record in running an NFL team and scouting than Doug Whaley. As to what to do now? It's a bye week. Here is where I start: 1.Fire the special teams coach. You can't have players holding on every return. 2.Rex needs to continue to let the D-Line attack the QB. I also want to see more inside pressure as QB's have clean pockets this year. Also, if teams are going to throw quick we need to press receivers at the line and get our hands in throwing lanes. 3.If Karlos is not ready then time to sign Bryce Brown. Herron is not as good. 4.Kick and Punt returners. Can we do better here? 5.Equipment guys. Fire someone as you can't have headsets not functioning correctly. 6.Get swagger back. Team seems to have dialed that down since these losses, time to change that up. 7.Get screen game going. Make TT and EJ hit these passes 50 times a day, setup and practice blocking as we have Watkins as well for these. 8. Dareus? Where are you? 9.Get healthy! Things I liked this week: 1.Team hasn't given up, kept fighting. 2.Offensive line was pretty good in pass protection. Kromer back helping? 3.Defensive ends looked much better. Hughes was a force, needs to stop being held! 4.Darby and Gilmore very good in coverage. 5.Nice blocking by WR's down the field
  21. I could see us moving on from Cordy Glenn. It comes down to TT. If he craps the bed we are going to try to draft a QB.
  22. Luck is not going anywhere. He would have to fail in Indy completely to be moved. That would not happen for at least 2-3 years and at that point no one would want him.
  23. You have to look at the situation at the time, not looking back. EJ was a high upside project QB already on the roster who played pretty well in his first year. I have no problem with not selecting Carr or Bridgewater there as neither were sure fire anything. They had some supporters and detractors just like EJ. If the Bills passed on a Luck or Roethlisberger, then yeah I understand. I'm not going to expect the Bills to draft another project QB after EJ had just completed a decent rookie season. After 2014, that is when I started the clock for Whaley to find a QB .
  24. Schwartz was not going to stay and be a coordinator in name only. Rex Ryan was hired as a defensive guru. Even if Rex wanted Jim to stay, Jim would not have. Yes, the defense is not playing as well as last year. That is on Rex.
