  1. earl thomas plays a much more physical style of football than byrd they are different in their approach i would actually give a slight nod to byrd when it comes to catching and ball skills, but thomas is a much better tackler and plays at a higher intensity level and all around makes more plays
  2. it's just interesting to consider let's not act like passing is not hugely important tho i mean look who is still left - manning and brady probably best two qbs of the era and wilson/kaepernick two of the new young stud qbs
  3. we got two 3rds and a 7th when we traded mcgahee we let lynch go for a song
  4. it's interesting to see how the league is so pass happy these days, yet the playoff success this year has been based on running the ball and playing defense this year
  5. lol here's QBs sorted by QBR this year Manning Rivers Brees Foles Rodgers Kaepernick Cutler Luck Ryan Brady Romo Wilson Newton Dalton Fitzpatrick Roethlisberger Stafford Palmer Ponder McGloin Smith Cassel Bradford Flacco Tannehill Glennon Manuel Griffin Campbell Clemens Schaub Manning Geno Keenum Henne Pryor Weeden Flynn it's not a perfect list but its pretty reasonable for QB play this season
  6. traditional strong safeties are in the process of being phased out similar to the fullback most defenses dont use a run stuffing enforcer safety these days saying they are 180 degrees different is not at all correct in today's NFL
  7. Jairus is good, and is a pro-bowl caliber safety. However, he's just not at the top of the game right now the same way Earl Thomas is. Thomas is playing at a dominant level, not quite to the level of Polamalu or Reed in their prime but he is approaching it. I'd put Thomas and probably Eric Berry ahead of Byrd, and put Weddle along the same level as Byrd. I still think Byrd is a top 5 safety and I hope the Bills resign him.
  8. I'd like to see them franchise Spiller at least once preferably twice and then let him go.
  9. Kiko did VERY well just to get nominated! It's very hard for a defensive player to win this award. Since the award's inception if 2002, it has been won by a defensive player only ONCE (Suh in 2010). He most likely won't win, and they are all good candidates (except Bernard). I could see a legitimate case to be made for Lacy, Allen, Patterson, or Alonso.
  10. here is the O-line breakdown: Cordy Glenn and Eric Wood - these guys are fine solid starters all set here Erik Pears and Kraig Urbik - these guys are passable NFL starters but drafting some late round talent to push them would be great Doug Legursky - he fared a bit better than Colin Brown, but he is still very much the weak link and in desperate need of replacement If they can get a new starter at guard via free agency or the draft and then get another late round body in the mix to develop the offensive line will be a very solid part of this football team.
  11. at least they weren't punching anyone or calling obscene names or dumping beer or stuff on the opposing fans
  12. old grumpy people that are a bit out of touch in the thread Slam Cam is an internet meme (if you dont now what a meme is you are REALLY out of touch) its considered to be in good fun it's not in the same vein as the Knockout Game or truly bad stuff like that no one is getting hurt or verbally abused - and compared to some of the treatment i have personally seen at the ralph towards opposing fans, this is very mild edit: i also dont even think its that funny or a particularly well done video, but its just some run of the mill gameday lot shenanigans
  13. lol i dont usually agree with Promo but he's spot on the bills are going to tag and trade byrd and trade him and a 3rd rounder for a 1st rounder? not gonna happen the bills could probably only get a 5th rounder for him in a sign and trade scenario
  14. what can you say over the last 15 years the bills have been among the worst franchises in football - arguably the absolute very worst yes that is very much linked to the consistently lousy quarterback play
  15. I have very little faith in Marrone and Manuel - in fact those are probably the two biggest question marks for this franchise. However, there is hope - and whereas we KNEW guys like Fitzpatrick or Jauron were terrible, we still don't know for sure that Marrone and Manuel are failures. There's a chance!
  16. They SHOULD keep Byrd. But the reality is there is probably no amount of money at this point that will keep him in Buffalo.
  17. If the Bills drafted Bortles I would be very happy. Let them have an open competition in training camp. EJ has the inside track so he has a good chance of holding off the rookie and getting his chance to prove himself, and the Bills will have a great prospect waiting in the wings.
  18. Bortles looked VERY good out there tonight. He will be coming out, and will definitely be a 1st round pick.
  19. stevie can play - he would just be best used as a 2nd receiver with a big physical guy running the primary routes
  20. by 2nd post i meant the thread was already answered effectively in post #2 ALSO bills defense 2012 362.9 ypg 22nd 27.2 ppg 26th 12 int 20th 36 sacks 18th 2013 333.4 ypg 10th 24.2 ppg 20th 23 int 2nd 57 sacks 2nd
  21. What are you talking about? You are saying playoff games got blacked out?
