  1. Aaron Maybin's post game comments on BB.com...dude is oozes confidence of a top notch player. Not too much to say other than I love how this guy plays and approaches the game: positives: -athletic, fast, quick twitch off the snap -determined -prepared -humble, but supremely confident -does not seem to be a guy that will ever become complacent -not nearly as small and weak as advertised. even seems to be working toward destroying that impression negatives: -coming out of the draft, i was really worried the guy was too small and weak, but see last positive -inexperienced and a 1 year wonder, but is willingly to do the work to get the experience and make more years -college predessors did not do well in nfl, but who care -i am tring to be fair and objective so blah, blah, blah, -he might not reach his potential if he gets hurt, but ...well, this is the one thing that seems most likely to stop this guy from being a real impact player, imho I really did not like this pick much, but the more I see and hear from him, the more I like him. Hope I keep seeing him hit QB's with the ball in their hand! Go Bills!
  2. You do seem happy. Can't see Christ-like attitude in what you said though... How could you be a Christain if you are a caveman? Before his time. Your are not a newage caveman from that makes commerials, right? Anyway, I agree thand I believe it would be a good thing for Peters to fail in football at least initially in Philly. Maybe he would realize how lucky he was and is and will respect himself and his team someday.
  3. LOL. Hopefully, we don't ask "where is our star on field" when we play TB in the home opener.
  4. Hey guys, just thought I'd let you all know that this doctor that stitched up my leg last night played with JP Losman for 1 year at Tulane told me he was a very arrogant and aloof guy as far as relationships with his teammates. This guy loved football and his teammates, but had to quit to focus on his pre-med studies. Just confirms that JP not only did not have many friend on the team and as was not respected very much there in Tulane either. Nothing we did not already hear rumblings about. Stiil, I hope JP pulls it together and does well in UFL. I still like him...since I really don't know him...
  5. Here is a good paraphrased Peters quote that seems appropriate. "I play well for all the other plays and I got beat twice by a guy, oh, two guys, but they get paid too!"
  6. Practice? We're talking practice, man! Don't worry. It is practice. If he is not as good as Chambers he won't be the number 3 OT. Plain and simple. Now, if you want to worry why we have big question marks at the starting OT positions, then feel free. I am worried. Personally, I love what the interior is going to be like, I am just scared as hell that Edwards will be blind and front sided early and often. But, Bell taking first string ROT or LOT reps in practice. No problem. Let's see what he is made of. It is practice!
  7. I have no problems with how Buffalo handled the Crowell situation last year and this year once he was an UFA and I am by no means saying he was great. I agree he was a good player for us. But... And his tackling skills were abysmal. What? I bet you can't find 5 OLB's that averaged more tackles than Crowell during the years he started for the Bills. He was a very productive player for Buffalo. Maybe it did not totally show up on tape, but come one. The guy made plays...Int's, tackles, and a few sacks (Safety against Washinton).
  8. Either take the hit and cut him or start and play him 1st and 2nd down as a rotation player with Denney. Since I am not paying, I am not sure I care that much since I am not paying. I think they could use Schobel, Kelsay, Ellis, Maybin and Denny. You saw the formula to beat this team with Brady thanks to the G-men in the Super Bowl. Pressure Brady! Got to do it very well or
  9. We may never be high in his wish list, but I'd be shocked if the Bills did not make him an offer af at least what Jason Taylor was offered by us. I also agree, with that question about "what would do with Chris Kelsay?" I am not sure if we'd cut Kelsay of we signed Greg Ellis or if we'd go with Schobel, Ellis, Kelsay, Maybin and Denny and cut Chris Ellis, but that is exactly what I'd do. Play Ellis on more passing downs but also on 1st and 2nd down in a rotation allowing all our DE's to be very fresh and not have any pressure on Maybin to be above average for a rookie and get 8 sacks. I don't that will happen, but we need almost 15-20 more from our team over last year to make the playoffs and I do not think we'll get it with our current players. So, I feel the only way we get him is to pay him at least 1 million more than everybody else and/or get TO's help recruiting him if it would help. I honestly think the Bills HAVE TO TRY and WILL TRY to sign him b/c we already tried once to get a big time pass rushing vet. I am thinking a 1 year deal and I'd go as high as 3.5 million maybe 4 but I bet most of you all and the Bills think it is too much. Not me. Not for a one year deal in a year we need to make the playoffs. Peace.
  10. I believe it. I had also heard that he looked very strong early last year. Let's face it, when guys "show up", Dick and the rest of the Bill's staff like to put guys in. Remember how bad they wanted Butler to take the RG spot in his second year? Jauron pined throughout training camp on what a shame it was that he was not healthy enough to compete for the RG job the whole time and I think he was heathy enough to play the last 1 or 2 preseason games (did not start any if I remember correctly) and all of a sudden he is the opening day starter in '07. Another idication that the REALLY like Bowen is the fact they they did not make any huge offers to Crowell, June, Pisa T., or Keaho (sp?). I do not know the money ythey offered, but would bet $100 it was not for more than 1 year. They like Bowen and probably like this year's 5th rounder as well. We will see if if he flashes like Bowen did last year and if Bowen can get it all back this year as well. Same formula for Hardy. One year deal to TO to let him gow and recover. I think he may need more than 1 more year to make an impact though. Poor Hard will barely get any training camp time and he really needs it. But I digress... The Bills really liked what Boewn did before his injury and he would have been the 3rd OLB before Angelo was hurt. No doubt about it. We will see if he can get to 95% physcially of what he was last year, b/c if so with him being so much further ahead mentally, he will be our starting OLB in place of Ellison at some point this year. All about his health...

  12. Nope. Trent's deep balls go 49-53 yds whenever look closely. I've never seen the 60 yarder that Cutler has uncorked on target though. Trent throws 50 yders consistently.
  13. I did not agree at the time. I wanted Oher. I think he will be a very good and 1-3 time Pro Bowler. Just my guess based on his talent and the determination I feel the kid has. As far as Maybin, I think the Bills are going for a homerun. The guy has lightning in his first step and has a high motor. He is a projection though. The guy needs to learn and perfect counter moves as well as get much stronger and learn to use his hand much better. If all this happens he can be as good or better than what Oher can be, but Maybin could be a bust very easily b/c of his lack of strengh and size (thin hips). I love the kids confidence, character, motor and attitude so I really, really hope I an wrong. Go Bills.
  14. Just one version. 7:00 pm is re-run later in the night and ealry morning hours. I also DID NOT hear them say "they would not even talk ubtil they got to $11M."
  15. Here is my take on Jason Peters contract value and it is all hypothetcial but based on logic: If a team that plans on drafting one of the top two Left OT's (J Smith and E Monroe) felt he was worthy of being the highest paid OT, then you'd think they would be willing to trade their first round pick (2-6) or the OT they actually pick to the Bills straight up. Their logic would be he is worthy of being the highest paid OT and is a proven commodity and the draft pick is not. Peters and the draft pick's contract would be similar if #1 or #2 pick (assuming 7% bump over last year's pick) and definitely more than if 4-6 (I doubt KC wants an OT). We'll see, but I would highly doubt that anybody that could get J Smith or E Monroe would trade them for Jason Peters straight up. If it does then Peters is not over vauling himself and others feel the same way about him as he does. I say, No. More plausible for me is the team that picks Oher for Peters. They may have to throw in a 3rd or 4th to send to the Bills and bet that with a new contract Peters will revert to '07 form for 5-7 more years. The Bills would get a similarly questionable type of mental make-up guy that is also very talented OT but has not proven he can play LOT in the NFL and a pick. I would not nexecssarily prefer this but can understand why they don;t want to give Peters $11-$12/year with lots up front in his pocket. The worst scenario is the Bills trade Peters and end up with E Britton or the OT from U Conn. One is a ROT and the other will take 1-2years to develop. Peace. Go Bills!
  16. I agree at some level. If the Bills can sign decent players for a good price and 1 year deals, they may sign more. However, it does not makes senses to sign more to me because they plan to fill their needs in the Draft and may a Trade. We will be Drafting or Trading for the following: 1. TE 2. DE (that may also play LB on 1st and 2nd down) think Maybin/E. Brown/Cushing/Barwin 3. OG/C Those are the key spots left to be filled, right? It is not too far fetched to think we can get those guys in Rounds 1-3 or 1-2 and a trade. Then we fill in for depth at S, OG/C, DT, RB and other positions with the rest of the draft. Add in an OT with the Round 1 pick we get (and more) if Peters forces a trade. Another thought I have is they really like Alvin Bowen or Derek Fine and feel they can step up into starter roles this year. Both are possible game 1 starters guys depending on how the draft breaks for us.
  17. You know how nobody really wants that Top 3 or top 5 pick b/c of all the guaranteed money? Well, if the Bills were stuck with the 3rd pick they could almost be certain on getting a top LT with (Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe) and if they love those guys, then it would not be ridiculous at all. I would say that it would have to take an unreal deal...more than 2 number one's from Philly b/c we still end up without a question mark at LT. Now next year if D. Bell takes over for say an injured L. Walker at RT or J Peters and shows he is lights out then everything changes doesn't it? Probably not b/c the new contract is already in place most likely unless he just agrees to play in 2009 with the current contract and we know there's about a 2% chance of that. Too many reasons why it does not make very much sense to trade Peters...
  18. Huh? So, if Peters is asking for some ridiculous amount of money guaranteed (think Haynesworth money or close) and you were not absolutely positive he was going to stay commited to being the best he can be for whatever reason, I think you would be a horrible GM to close the door on the possibility. That said Eugene Monroe and Jason Smith are the only guys I really feel will be good to great LT's and they are gone by 11 for sure. Andre Smith, Other, Britton, and Beatty all are way too big a question mark to count on being a Pro Bowl LT. That said, we would need a ridiculous offer to trade Peters now. But you never close the door if he is being a real headache and the reationship has soured so bad that it can't be patched. Since it hasn't... I would do my best to sign Peters. No doubt we still have a ton of leverage on him b/c he is signed for two more years. B Russ and Overdroff will get it done.
  19. He came to Dallas in Romo's first year as a starter!!! That's right. Granted Romo was in his 4th year and did not came into the 2006 year as a starter, it was Romo's first year (10 games) as a starter. Carucci and others I have heard on NFL on Sirius say he is dangerouns for Edwards. A second year starter. It is his third year and he already started. What about Romo? He helped him his first year. He makes others better. Plain and simple. The only way he does not help the Bills in 2009 is he gets injured. Period. I think it is a very good move for 1-year, but what gets really interesting is how they move forward in 2010. More then 1 or 2 years with TO is playing with fire, but you miss his production. I bet the guy plays 3 maybe 4 more years and 1 or 2 are productive. Hopefully one is in 2009! Go Bills!
  20. Yep. Sure. John Clayton says it could be career threatening. It could be. It could get so bad that such a severe infection sets in and that gangrene enters his knee and body making it life threathening or bring amputation in the picture. Could it happen? Yes. But it is slightly less likely than this infection being career threatening b/c that is about the only thing that could cause it to be career threatening. If the infection compromises his first graft reconstruction (rare and a slim chance) he would just need to have the re-con done again. A set-up back? Yes. Career threatening? Not even close. Brady will be back playing again in 2009. Mark my words. Same Brady? Maybe, maybe not, but no way is he much worse than Carson Palmer was last year or Donovan McNabb was either.... I hope Tom is fine and the Bills take the division this year and years to come, but we will see about that... See, the ESPN types love to speculate because it makes news. Remember when Farve made public that he wanted to come back and no one in the Packers org even remotely said anything welcoming? It was a shoe-in he would not play there but yet Mort and John both said they put odds on him playing for Pack ahead of the Bucs and Jets. You know why? So that when things slide towards a trade and he was traded it was big news. There was no way he was goin to stay with the Pack but they tried to shove it down our throats. Peace. Go Bills and Sabres!
  21. From what I have read and seen, Trent Edwards probably suffered a Grade 2 Concussion and presumably it was his first. So I would expect that Trent will not be practicing until late next week (1 week after all symptoms disappear) at the earliest, assuming the Protocol the Bills follow is something similar to what is contain in the following link: http://www.geocities.com/wadeinblack/concussion.html GRADES OF CONCUSSION Grade 1: Transient confusion (blank stare, inability to carry out goal-directed movement or maintain coherent stream of thought) No loss of consciousness Commonly referred to as having had their "BELL RUNG" or been "DINGED". Concussion symptoms or mental status abnormalities on examination resolve in less than 15 minutes. Grade 2: Transient confusion No loss of consciousness Concussion symptoms or mental status abnormalities (including amnesia) on mental examination last more than 15 minutes. Grade 3: Any loss of consciousness Brief (seconds) Prolonged (minutes) MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS Grade 1: Remove from contest Examine immediately and every 5 minutes for development of mental status abnormalities or post concussive symptoms at rest and with exertion. May return to contest if mental status abnormalities or post-concussive symptoms clear within 15 minutes. Grade 2: Remove from contest and disallow return to play that day. Examine on-site frequently for signs of evolving intracranial pathology. A trained person should re-examine the athlete the following day. a physician should perform a neurologic examination to clear the athlete for return to play after 1 full asymptomatic week at rest and with exertion. Grade 3: Transport the athlete from the field to the nearest emergency department by ambulance if still unconscious or if worrisome signs are detected (with cervical spine immobilization, if indicated). A thourough neurologic evaluation should be performed emergently, including appropriate neuroimaging procedures when indicated. Hospital admission is indicated if any signs of pathology are detected, or if the mental status of the athlete remains abnormal. WHEN TO RETURN TO PLAY An athlete may return to play only after all post-concussive symptoms have resolved both at rest and with exercise. *Grade 1 Concussion May return to play after 15 minutes if no headache or other post-concussive symptoms are present. *Multiple Grade 1 Concussions Return to play after 1 week without symptoms. *Grade 2 Concussion Return to play after 1 week without symptoms. *Multiple Grade 2 Concussions Return to play after 2 weeks without symptoms. *Grade 3 Concussion(brief) Return to play after 1 week without symptoms. *Grade 3 Concussion (prolonged) Return to play after 2 weeks without symptoms. May need to consider terminating season if symptoms persist. *Multiple Grade 3 Concussions Hold out at least one month. Base on decision of evaluating physician. Here is hoping Trent is feeling back to normal by now or very soon, but my guess is he sit for the SD game. It is a hige game since it is in the AFC and against a team we hopefully will be competing with for the Playoffs.
  22. I just get the feeling based on Modrak's comments and the fact that Sweed has played with a very talented Texas team, the Bills would have like to see more production out of him. I believe they like D Thomas' production last year (1st year of a new coach) and believe there are decent reasons why he did not produce better his first year with Mich State (his Junior year). JL Smith, first year a Div 1, ... The like Kelly's toughness, size, and demeanor and to some extent his solid prouction. So, IMHO, it will be Kelly or D Thomas in round 1 maybe at 11 and maybe a little lower. Round 2 depends on who is there of the CB's and TE's. I think the Bills would take A Cason (CB) over any TE even if they had their pick of all TE's. Just my opinion though. I say this because I think Cason is a perfect fit for our defense (physical, good cover skills, tough, physical and can flip the field with INT's). In round 3, Carlson, Cotman, Finely, or Bennet will be there and I think they like these guys. Davis and Keller will be gone be the middle of round 2. Personally, I think Cason is gone by 35, not that I even know who picks 35, just that I'd be shocked if he was not earlier b/c so many teams will recognize he talent and need a strong CB.
  23. Exactlty. They will take a WR at #11 UNLESS: 1. They trade down to later in the 1st and grab a WR. 2. Take something other than WR at #11 and trade back up to grab a WR. 3. Take something other than WR at #11 and take a WR with our 2nd. They will not wait unitl the 3rd to go WR. I like Jordy Nelson unless reports are true that he does not go over the middle much. If they target Nelson the only other option would be to trade their 3rd and another pick to move to the bottom of the second to get him. They can't afford to NOT get a productive WR #2 for this year....same as last year when we HAD to get a starting RB and LB. It was a must so that is were we went in round 1 and 2. If we go with a DE to help with the pass rush to help our secondary (especially CB's), that is fine. But we will get a WR in our next pick. We have to.
  24. I second.. Devin Thomas Antoine Cason However, I think that Thomas will be gone by 21 or 22 and Cason by 26. My guess at least...
  25. I personally think the question should Devin Thomas or who else at #11? I honestly believe he will be gone in the first round with a good chance he is the #1 WR on many team's baords. If someone the Bills could trade dow 3-5 picks and still get him and then trade back into the first to get A. Cason I think we would have an awesome WR with the potential to be a #1 (1a or 1b for us) in 3 years and an impact #2 thi year and the best fit at CB for the Bills in the draft. What more could you want besides that and a TE in our remaining 3rd round pick and depth picks in our last 5 picks (4, 5, 6, 7, 7)???
