  1. I don't know if we would have won rushing the ball more. But I do know it would have been fun in the first half to just run the ball straight at Heyward every play and lead block with 2 additional guys every play just so we could pancake him, drive him into the ground, step on him and make him never want to play against Buffalo again. That kind of misery. Then maybe go back to 5 wide. 😁
  2. But it doesn't stop it entirely. Just like doubling Heyward didn't stop him entirely. Why even bother? We should have dedicated those blockers to other guys. That would have worked better. Makes sense no? 😆
  3. Without a doubt. I don't think Beane values the offensive line positions as much as some of us do. He would rather focus on flashier positions. I wish we had a real beast to rush the A gaps on defense. And I wish we had a whole bunch of beasts on the offensive line who were capable of routinely pancaking and overpowering their opponents. Bills need consistently and significantly above average offensive line play to win it all.
  4. I envision the Steelers going over film from the previous game against Buffalo going, next time we play them, this is what we are going to do. If they keep doing what they are doing, we will eat them alive. And they did. But I have a good imagination.😆
  5. I think the thing the biggest difference in the Steelers game would have been made by bring a back into the backfield strictly for doubling Heyward. As in not allowing the back to ever do anything except double him. Or, had some other scheme to see that he was doubled every single time he was on the field. Heyward destroyed his opponent many times when he was singled. It was usually Feliciano. Massive mismatch. Steelers were licking their chops. Heyward was twice the factor that any other Steelers defensive lineman was. If the Bills had successfully blocked Heyward the entire game, (I know that is fantasy), then Allen would have been a lot more effective passing. We simply allowed WAY too much pressure up the middle. That is how you defeat every excellent passer in this league. Pressure up the middle. Steelers didn't even need to blitz to do it. They did it when Heyward was one on one. It sounds laughable, but it is possible that the Steelers could have had an effective pass rush with just Heyward out there and everyone else on the line just standing there holding their hands up to disrupt passing lanes.
  6. Good post. It is concerning that the Steelers were able to game plan that well against the Bills' offensive line based on previous years' tapes. That tells me they changed nothing (or at least too little) about what they were doing last year (or perhaps longer) on the offensive line. I don't know how much change can be made in blocking schemes in one week of practice during the season? But my sense tell me, if you try to change too much you will just create problems that didn't exist before. I think it takes at least a handful of games for an offensive line to effectively make substantial chances to their blocking schemes. Maybe I'm wrong there. I just don't know. We will learn a lot in the Miami game. And we will really learn a lot about this coaching staff's capabilities once we play another excellent defensive line - like Washington perhaps.
  7. Great post Bob! How could I not do what my country has asked of me when this country has given me so much and asked for so little in return? I think of our holiday – Memorial Day – and think of all the men and women who gave everything – their very lives – to their country even when they may not have agreed with their leader who asked them to serve. When so many generations of people have given their lives for me and my family so we could try to prosper here; how could I not give back in my own tiny way when I am asked to do so? Complaining because you are asked to do so little (get a shot in your arm) to potentially protect so many from a disease that could kill them. Good lord. Think about what you parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and their generations have been asked to give so you could watch your beloved football. A person saying they’re not worried about Covid because they are healthy enough is acting selfishly in my opinion. It’s not about you. It’s about the rest of the people you have the opportunity to help survive. It is about being an American and caring about other Americans – even ones who disagree with your opinions.
  8. Have no fear. Looking back at footage of the Steeler's game, it is more evident that Allen actually played better than it looks at first. Didn't execute well enough, no. A lot of that was because the Steeler pass rush was too good using too few pass rushers. Miami lacks the talent on their d-line that Pittsburgh has. It's not even close in my opinion. I expect a much better looking offensive line performance out of Buffalo and a much more comfortable Josh Allen in the pocket. Miami will need to blitz to generate the kind of pressure that the Steelers got. And if they do, I expect Allen will make them pay for it first with his legs evading the pressure then with his arm throwing to receivers open deep.
  9. Its not crazy. It is a dumb to whine about being treated unfairly just because you won't do something your country has asked you to do for the good of the country. You can choose not to get vaxed. It's your right. But you have to accept the consequences of that decision just as the vaccinated people have to accept the consequences of choosing to get vaccinated.
  10. Can't afford to get that drunk anymore. Bud lights were $14.50 each
  11. Buy them and give them to the most belligerent drunken short fuse biker you can find. Make sure he has neck tattoos first. Give them to him. Tell him the opposing team fans that sit near you think bikers are all gay men who pretend to be tough guys. That should do it. 😆
  12. What if you get thrown out due to your drunken rampage inside the stadium? Then I loose my season tickets. NO WAY!
  13. Funny guy. Too bad. I thought he looked like ***** the last few times I saw him on television. Looked ill to me like he was on the edge of death.
  14. It would be worse if the stadium was still at the Rockpile. Yikes! You would loose your hubcaps and maybe more.
  15. Could very well be. I don't recall it being their norm. Norm as I recall was having a back in the backfield. But I drink a lot when watching the games.
  16. Don't all gunslingers prefer to face the defense the whole time? Gives them more time to process the field and notice defenders "actual" intention rather than their pre-snap presentation? Steelers do this with Big Ben, no? Kelly was a very effective shotgun quarterback - while still running lots of draws and shovel passes to Thurman. Seems like it makes them a slightly more effective passer at the sacrifice of not having the play action option.
  17. I don't think it is the same playbook. The plays don't look similar at all to me. How often did the Patriots go 5 wide? Daboll likely borrowed whatever he liked from the Patriots' playbook when he was there. But, what I see on the field looks quite a bit different. I certainly could be wrong though. Maybe we will start seeing a bunch of screens to Singletary a bunch of quick slants to Beasley and a bunch of passes to Knox in the red zone. Seems to me that Daboll is trying to be more of an innovator as opposed to sticking to the tried and true. Daboll seems like the adult version of a happy kid at Christmas time who just got a shiny new toy (named Josh Allen) to play with. He will test his new toy and abuse it from time to time doing inappropriate things. I think he is going to ram the toy into the wall a few times to see if it breaks or not. He will leave it in the driveway occasionally so his dad accidentally runs it over with the station wagon. He will leave it out in the rain from time to time. The neighbor's dog might take a dump on it because it was left out in the sandbox. It will get kicked around a lot. It'll get some paint scraped off it and a dent here or there. Fortunately I think Josh Allen is well built like those metal Caterpillar Tonka trucks we played with as kids. 😆
  18. I don't think it is as close to the Patriots as you do. Patriots got the ball out quickly with rhythm often times to screens, slants and tight ends in the flats. Brady wasn't looking for a home run on every play. He was moving chains with short and intermediate passes. The Bills focus on intermediate and home runs. It wasn't normal for the Patriots to hold the ball in the pocket. It was normal to get rid of it immediately and focus on run after catch. The Bills offense reminds me more of the Warner led St. Louis team - except without Marshall Faulk.
  19. I agree with you, but I would expect them to do that. They're not exactly going to call guys out in public. That would not be good for the locker room. He admitted fault for not doing good enough. So did McDermott. What else would anyone expect them to say? The interviews are mostly pointless, but they have to do them. If they weren't made to do them, why in the world would any of the NFL coaches want to do them. There is nothing to gain - only potential negative consequences if you slip up and say the wrong thing to piss off a player or divulge something to your opponents or give the media fodder so they can make a story out of nothing - Kind of like the Covid story with Dawkins that they keep trying to stir up. Smart coaches play politics and keep their mouths shut while only blaming themselves and crediting the other team.
  20. Tale of 2 offensive coordinators. Greg Roman - Lopsided running focus Brian Daboll - Lopsided passing focus If I have to err on one side or the other, I'll take Daboll's aggressiveness every time. Even in a loss to Pittsburgh. It is so much more fun watching an offense that is always looking for the homerun play - even on fourth and 8. And when they are clicking.....man it is fun! If they just get Josh to dial it back a hair until things are obviously going in their favor. Then step on the gas.
  21. Biggest improvements are usually from game one to game two right? Or is that just college & high school ball?
  22. I suspect Miami will have their moments and move the ball well in a few drives. They have playmakers who will probably make a couple big plays. But, I've got a feeling we are going to see the Bills d-line feast on fish. And I expect Wallace to get a pick because his guy will be the target of the duck passes thrown up by baby tuna Tua. Its an away game so I expect Josh Allen to find his mojo and find his receivers - early and often on those deep passes he loves to throw. It's a division game so anything can happen. But if I was a Miami player, I would really hate to be playing Buffalo this week. Here come the pain.
  23. So basically, watching the Bills all your life has beaten the emotion out of you.😄 It's kinda like getting used to the wife's bitching over a lifetime of marriage. You just get numb to it, waiting for your opportunity to put that pillow over her face while......😄 The one good thing coming out of this loss is that perhaps the kids sitting around me in the stands will stop chanting MVP for Josh Allen for a few more games. Hasn't even won a regular season game yet and people were already chanting MVP. Gee, I wonder why a 25 year old quarterback would feel so much pressure in a home game. Wish I was as stoic as you about the losses, but every year I get a little better at it.
  24. Gruden 2.0 Chris, please tell me how great the superstar is again.. It's like the guy is catering to teenagers and chicks who are just discovering football for the first time.
  25. Are you from Dunkirk and/or do you know anyone from Dunkirk? Do you know a guy by the name of Don who fishes for walleye in Lake Erie? Do you have any inside knowledge on where the new stadium is going to be built? Or should we just "follow the money"?
