  1. As it stands right now, I think I'd hold my nose and pick one of the CBs. I think they'd probably like Booth more than McDuffie, so that's who I'd choose here.
  2. I wouldn't draft a QB or kicker at all. Probably no defensive linemen either. I might draft a good punter in R7, but no higher. I'd also wait until the mid rounds at LB and S...maybe 5-7 on the latter. For me, RB, WR, TE, OL, and CB would all be of at least some interest at 25 and for every round until addressed.
  3. That's the sticking point for me with regard to a CB at 25. I'm sure they'd like to give Dane Jackson some decent competition, but I also think they like him and would be content with him as the #2 once White is healthy. To me, its really just a question of Tre White's recovery. If they expect him to make a full recovery, then the question is, do you burn a 1st to cover a temporary need that may only last a few weeks? Keep in mind, also, that a 1st may himself need half a season or more to adjust to the NFL. By the time he's starting to play well, Tre White should be back and all you've done (hopefully) is replace a competent #2 with a good one. There's value in doing that, but in a less aggressive coverage scheme that got good mileage out of Levi Wallace, is that the best or most efficient use of resources? I don't know and without knowing the status of Tre White in his recovery or how confident the front office is in his recovery, it's a difficult question to answer.
  4. I wouldnt take an OG in the top 10-15, but otherwise, I don't necessarily have a huge issue with using a later 1st round pick if a good guard would make the most improvement to the overall team. That's true also of the other 'lower value' positions...RB, C, TE, LB and safeties.
  5. They could replace him as a runner and maybe as a receiver with a rookie, but it wouldn't be the worst idea to bring the replacement in a year early in order to get him thoroughly acclimated to the pass protection/ blitz pickup responsibilities they'd ask of him.
  6. I think they're planning on a CB at 25 now, but I'm not against picking Breece Hall there if they think he's better than Singletary and can add some big play potential both rushing and receiving. The position is devalued compared to what it once was, but you're still counting on the RBs to touch the football 400 times a year. Given that, I don't think it's unreasonable to use a late 1st at RB if the player profiles as a major upgrade. I'm not as much on board with a super small WR in R2 and definitely not of waiting that long for an offensive lineman. I expect at least one of the first two picks to be an offensive lineman or CB. Unless they take a WR at 25, I'm expecting them to wait until R3-5 before taking one.
  7. Agreed. They may get some good players from those draft picks, but it's highly unlikely that any of them will be as difficult to defend as Hill was. On paper, it's not a bad trade, but on the field, I think they're worse for it.
  8. Taking into account the projected cap increases when the new CBA kicks in, the Bills should be able to afford to keep Diggs. The challenge will be keeping all three of Diggs, Davis and Knox.
  9. It may be a bit early, I agree. If he's their guy and they can trade down for him, all the better.
  10. After loading up the defensive line in free agency, I expect them to draft heavily to the offensive side next month. That upgraded pass rush should take some pressure off the DBs. They might still go CB at 25, but if White's recovery is coming along well, it wouldn't surprise me if they wait to take a developmental CB in the mid rounds. Ultimately, they're going to win or lose based on Allen and the offense. They've stated priorities to protect Allen and improve their speed, but they've done very little of that in comparison to their defensive investment this off-season. The coordinators are also a consideration, and I would expect Frazier to have an easier time hiding a weakness on defense than Dorsey can as a first year offensive coordinator. I expect them to take a WR or OL in R1, with an outside chance of a RB if they really like one of them and feel they can help in the passing game. My guess is the same as it was a few weeks back...Jahan Dotson.
  11. I don't know. The Bills seem to really like Dane Jackson and he played pretty well late last year under difficult circumstances. They may view Siran Neal more as a special teams player, but they did just give him a nice contract extension a few weeks ago. They play pretty conservatively in the defensive backfield and usually give the outside guys safety help. Plus, this staff has been highly successful at identifying and coaching up later round CBs to play well within this system. If they're confident about Tre White's recovery progress, they may not view this as being as dire as we might expect. That's not to say they won't take a CB at 25, but I wouldn't be surprised if they wait a round or two, either.
  12. I tend to think it says more about the Bills' opinion of Dane Jackson than of Levi Wallace.
  13. I fully expected Jahan Dotson to be the pick at 25 before the combine. I still wouldn't have an issue with it, mind you, but I think that 4.47 might push him into the early to mid 2nd.
  14. That probably explains the interest in McKissic as well. Rather than the TEs, I also wonder if, while everyone is expecting a speed type slot WR, maybe they take Treylon Burks at 25.
  15. That's too bad, I liked Beasley. That being said, watching him play this past season, I think it was time.
  16. It could be argued that they could more easily get away with an average CB starting in the secondary with an upgraded pass rush, especially in one of the less aggressive/risky coverage schemes.
  17. The cap is real, but it can be manipulated under league contract rules. Plus, the cap is projected to skyrocket over the next few years once the new CBA kicks in, so I think the Bills and a few other teams are betting on that as well.
  18. That's the main reason I'd consider it, maybe even at 25, depending on who else is available. They need to divert some of Allen's carries to the running backs and keep him from taking unnecessary hits. Singletary is a capable player, but he's not so good that I wouldn't consider an upgrade if one were available. Further, I believe he's a free agent after the season, so getting a possible replacement in to learn blitz pickups, in particular, is something to consider. They also have stated an intent to improve the speed and athleticism of the offense, and while WR is probably a better match, a RB with good receiving skills could fit as well. They've already shown a significant interest in upgrading the RB spot with the failed signing of McKissic, so I don't think it's out of line to think the Bills could take one early, especially now that they've closed up a number of holes in FA.
  19. That would certainly help, but they need to divert some of those runs by Allen to the RBs, too, whether that's the guys on the roster or someone else. I'm not saying that they have to draft a RB in the first or anything, but I'd at least kick the tires if there were an upgrade available.
  20. I'd consider it if it helped prolong Josh Allen's career. I don't know how much longer they can keep relying on him to be a major part of their rushing attack.
  21. The writing is on the wall regardless, I think. It seems the Bills are clearly interested in making a decent sized investment at the position this year. That doesn't bode well for the backups and even Singletary isn't so good they couldn't consider an upgrade if they thought one was available.
  22. It would have been a nice addition for the Bills, but I can't say I'm disappointed as I never thought it was realistic given their cap situation.
  23. While I think the Bills really like Dane Jackson, if that contract value is correct, the Bills probably should have brought Wallace back themselves.
  24. It seems like a good signing to me. I had hoped they would sign Cordarelle Patterson as a versatile 3rd down RB, but McKissic seems like he can fill that role well in his own right. I can't complain. Overall, I think they've done a good job so far finding solid bargain free agents that they can fit within their limited cap space and in the process, increasing the options they have going into the draft.
  25. I don't necessarily like that one. He's not the greatest player in the world, but he's decent. Regardless, I think this means we can definitely expect significant investment in the OG spot this off-season.
