  1. Had a pulled pork at the Interstate BBQ at the Memphis Airport years ago. Very, very good sammich. But, I still desire the Rendezvous someday. I have heard that is the best, bar none.
  2. ...and the Pope is Catholic. Why should I even care about this? I didn't watch one minute of "American Karaoke" this year.
  3. True reality TV, Chef. Good call. Anything else is just people eating bugs.
  4. I watched that NFC Championship Game. Except for one pass -- a 90 yard TD to Donald Driver -- Favre had a subpar game. The weather didn't help. Eli Manning outplayed him, and the Giants would have beat the Packers in regulation had their kicker not missed a rather easy FG. And then Favre threw that interception. Last pass he threw in Green Bay. The Packers have a better and much younger QB in Aaron Rodgers. If you don't believe me, check the stats. Favre wants to come back to beat the Packers twice and embarass the crap out of Ted Thompson. I think that's what it boils down to. And I believe it will backfire on Favre. No less a football authority than Lavell Edwards stated that vengeance is highly overrated as a motivational tool and does nothing more than cloud your judgment.
  5. The new West Virginia state motto: We're all one big family. Really.
  6. I really liked The Living Daylights, the first Dalton film.
  7. Change "Buffalo" to "Cleveland" and I could say the same exact thing. I really believe that there were a lot of people here who wanted to see the Cavaliers falter so they could indulge in the "woe is us" mentality. It's why I stayed away from sports talk radio for several days after the loss to the Magic. How silly this "nothing but failure for us" mentality is. I can't speak for Buffalo, but I see that it's almost taken on a life of its own in my hometown. It's probably a self-defense mechanism, but there was no real heartbreaking loss this time. The Magic were just better, and it was a poor matchup for LeBron and the James Gang. Enough said.
  8. Should have said white Christians. I am a proud graduate -- magna cum mea culpa -- of the buckeyemike school for the mentally distraught.
  9. Surprisingly, I tend to agree with that statement. But, in my beliefs, the theology is incorrect. It DOES matter to God how you treat people. Enough that you might go to hell for it instead of heaven. This is the principle of the Arminian and Wesleyan doctrines of grace, which state that you can lose your salvation. The key to the Christian life is lifestyle change and heart change. If you're going to live the same way after redemption as before, why even bother? Admittedly, some Christians believe in "eternal security", meaning no matter what sins you commit, you are under God's grace. I am not one of them. I believe in responsible and reasonable birth control, and complete and total access to it. I just don't support abortion. You can tell I'm not Catholic b/c of that statement, but a surprising amount of Protestant leaders have spoken out against birth control in recent years. I believe that is probably so the faithful have more kids so that this country stays mostly Protestant...and white. My wife and I still use birth control, even though we've been married nearly 10 years. A lot of Christians do. I do not own my wife's body. She's a bright, intelligent, beautiful 40 year old woman who has become a respected RN in her work. I don't need to "own" her, because I am confident enough in my masculinity, and because she is my partner. I do not need to feel the weight of my own scrotum. Sadly, I think this statement is 99% accurate. Racism is alive and well in this country.
  10. I thought a reasoned and impassioned debate could be had. But I forgot that this is a message board. Guess I was too optimistic. Now that I'm 40, I'll have to remember to be more cynical.
  11. Thanks! This is the big one today, number 40. And I got a new set of golf clubs, which was desperately needed. I hope to try them out later today. Happy Birthday Rockpile as well!
  12. Terribly sad. And unless the wreckage and black box can be found, we will never know what happened.
  13. Linky. Most of you know that I'm a devout Christian and pro-life...but to see someone kill a doctor who performs abortions makes me mad as hell. Few things make me madder than this. Too bad no one at the church seemed to be packing heat at the time. This is not what people who are pro-life are all about. Have we gotten to the point in this country that we wish to eliminate those who believe differently from ourselves? I'm really hoping that this is just some wacko who has no connection to the pro-life movement...but I don't know. This obviously isn't random. The murderer knew who Dr. Tiller was. We will see as information is being released. As I said, this infuriates me to no end.
  14. Then I will take your advice, Mark. I thought Wall-E was a masterpiece (Pixar's best ever) and should have been nominated for Best Picture.
  15. I'm posting from a new Sony Vaio, complete with Blu-Ray player. My old Dell Inspirion finally died, so I got a new one. I really like it so far...anyone have similar experience with this brand?
  16. I'm really going to miss this show. But with 259 episodes, I think I'll live.
  17. A more extended part of the very last scene of the trailer is (Spoiler alert) Probably NSFW. Someone got really, really creative with the CGI effects. I certainly never would have thought of this scene.
  18. You have GOT to be kidding me.
  19. Do you know why this is being done? So the Cavaliers can open up China to all sorts of LeBron merchandise. That agreement may overcome any hurdles to LeBron staying in Cleveland...he could stand to make millions.
  20. Loved this show as a kid. I haven't seen it in probably 30 years. So deliciously cheesy. Good call Pooj.
  21. Great shot by LeBron, and I can tell you that this entire area would have committed hara-kiri if it hadn't gone in.
  22. It's actually pretty funny. To the 12 year old in me.
