Dave just seems to get better with age...he's pushing sixty, and his show is still going strong after all these years. Mike -

Whew...I thought you meant Jerry Falwell's old group. The question is, what do the people of America want? Polls are no help here, because they can be easily skewered to obtain a particular result. Is there a tainted view of marijuana in this country? Absolutely. However, remember that possession of pot 35 years ago in most states was a felony. Today, at least in Ohio and Texas, having up to 99 grams of the chronic is no worse than a traffic ticket. My feeling is that marijuana IS a drug. However, it is a controlled substance that can easily be regulated by the government (and should be done, because the government can tax the hell out of it). I don't see it happening, largely because of the pharmecutical lobby and the fact that most of our leaders have had it drummed into their brains that grass is evil, satanic, and will scare little children in the dark of night. Don't forget that 50 years ago, pot was called reefer, and was seen as a drug used largely by African-Americans, that good little Caucasian kids shouldn't touch, lest they be turned into crazed drugged-out zombies. There has always been a LOT of racism in this country's drug policy, and if you don't believe that, look at the penalties for possession of crack cocaine vs. powdered cocaine. Both types of cocaine are evil and heinous. I've seen what that crap can do. And, by the way, I've never touched the stuff, and have no urge to do so. Yet, I believe that marijuana should be legalized, at least for medicinal purposes. Mike -

I, like many others on this board, want to hear your reason. Mike -
Anyone else think that JP Losman should...

Instead of a bleepin' fishhack nobody likes. Mike -
I love the uniforms too (and I agree with Jester...ditch the navy ones), but I would prefer the 1974-84 white helmets with the charging buffalo. I never thought much of what I call the "grazing buffalo". Mike

This is why Willis needs to be here and not Miami
buckeyemike replied to bob marley's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Other than Jim Kelly getting pulled over a few times by Orchard Park's finest (allegedly), I can't think of a Bills player getting in trouble in Buffalo, but I'm sure it has happened. I did see in the article that Joe Gibbs wanted him back in Washington, but Taylor just wouldn't go. Mike -
[OT] Oh, those "wacky" San Franciscans!

They are truly the "masters of their domain". (And I am SURPRISED no one else wrote that sooner.) Mike -

(TV)Anyone watch "Hit Me One More Time"
buckeyemike replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was gonna watch it, but since it was my birthday, my wife and I went out for ice cream instead. Figures. I love 80's music and you say this show was unwatchable. I guess I'll just have to live with my memories, then. Mike -
Yes, and my wife is one who hasn't hit the wall. In fact, she looks better now than she did when we met eight years ago. See my profile (on the right, holding the cat). Mike

BTW, I just got back from my gastro doctor. Right now, I have no signs of Krohn's, but he wants to keep me on the Pentasa for the time being. The doctor does not want me to have another flare-up. I am eating normally and have gained 10 pounds back. I will be weaned off of the Entecort within the next month. Good news and a belated birthday present! Mike

Awww...I'm touched. Thanks all! I LAMPed on Wednesday because I knew I'd be on very little yesterday. In fact, I just missed the first reply here. I had a good day...went to a Japanese steakhouse for dinner (even had sushi!) and ice cream at Coldstone Creamery afterwards. And no ill effects afterward! I got to listen to the Jim Kelly interview on Rome. He said he was taking Hunter to the hospital because he wasn't feeling well. It was a good interview. I didn't know he was co-owner of a Busch Series team. My wife has a party planned for me on Saturday as well...it will be a good weekend. I even got the Red Green Six Pack DVD set I wanted. Mike

Jim Kelly on Jim Rome tomorrow...

I didn't hear the Jeff Gordon part, but I heard Rome go off on the others. It was hilarious! Mike -
Jim Kelly on Jim Rome tomorrow...

I happen to like Rome. To each his own. I haven't seen The Longest Yard yet...I hear Rome's got a line or two in it. Mike -
Jim Kelly getting into politics?
buckeyemike replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a two-word precedent here. Jack Kemp. I don't know what you who live in WNY think of Mr. Kemp and his politics, but I've always liked him. I even got to shake his hand when he spoke at Cleveland State University in 1993. That was one of the greatest days of my life...meeting Mr. Kemp and starting a new relationship with a blonde who was a stunner. No, she didn't become my wife. I didn't meet my wife, the lovely and talented Kimberly, for another four years. Mike -
What are YOU doing?!? Mike
-
Rome did not say what segment Jim Kelly would be on...that is apparently arranged tomorrow. And since tomorrow (6/2) is my birthday, I'm happy that my favorite NFL player of all time will be interviewed nationally and I can hear it here in Cleveland. Mike

Question for "out of town" fans.....
buckeyemike replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never been to a Bills game, only been to WNY three times in my life (1981, 1987, and 2004). There is a small band of Bills fans in the Cleveland area (mostly Buffalo and WNY expatriates). I'm from Cleveland, and a formerly huge Browns fan, so it's inexplicable to my friends (and my wife ) why I'm now a Bills fan. I do hope to get up to Orchard Park for a game in the future...believe me, I wouldn't shut up about it beforehand, so everyone would know I was coming. I've been to the RWS grounds...I certainly like it better than that character-less piece of concrete the Browns call home. Mike -
Should Frank Reich make the Wall of Fame?
buckeyemike replied to Mort Hendrickson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as I like Frank Reich, my answer is no. The Wall is reserved for those who changed the face of the franchise (the exception is Bob Kalsu, who was killed in Vietnam). However, Frank Reich was an important part of those teams: besides The Comeback, he was always available as a reliever. He never sulked being behind Kelly; in fact, Reich and Jim Kelly were supposedly friends. Sure there was competition between the two, but you never heard Frank Reich complain of his backup status. It was only when the NFL expanded that he left for the Carolina Panthers. I'm not sure someone who couldn't check his ego as much as Frank Reich did could be a backup QB...even to a Hall of Famer...for nine years. And share in the joys and sorrows of four straight Super Bowl appearances. Regarding his personality, I don't think it's any coincidence that Reich is a devout Christian and president of the seminary he will be graduating from this weekend. He really "walks the walk", so to speak. The NFL could definitely use about a thousand more Frank Reichs. Mike -
Hate to echo (esp. Darin ), but I agree. If this is the third jersey, they're better than the home ones. I guess we'll know for sure in a few days. Mike
