  1. Good GOD, that was a nasty pic! You're already posting like you've been here for years! Welcome to the fray. Mike
  2. When I first read the news of Hunter Kelly's passing, I was not in the office, but at the public library, checking my e-mail when I saw the news on Yahoo. I fought back tears, as I was in a public place. The Jim Kelly family issued this press release from the Kelly for Kids Foundation: Hunter James Kelly entered Heaven this morning, Friday, August 5, 2005. Hunter, the beloved 8½ year old son of Hall of Fame Quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife Jill, staged a valiant life-long battle with Krabbe Leukodystrophy. Hunter was the longest living survivor of infantile Krabbe disease and served as an inspiration to thousands of other children and their families. The Hunter's Hope Foundation was founded in his name to fund research into the fatal disease and to offer hope and support to its victims worldwide. Jim and Jill Kelly remain grateful for your continued prayers and support and ask that you respect their privacy as they mourn the sudden loss of their beloved son and offer comfort to his sisters Erin and Camryn. The Kelly Family would also like to thank everyone who has and will continue to uphold their family through prayer and support of the Hunter's Hope Foundation. It is the family's hope that all who mourn for their son, Hunter would join them in thanking the Lord for his precious life. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the Hunter's Hope Foundation (Hunter's Hope Foundation PO BOX 643, Orchard Park, NY 14127.) The Kelly family has requested a private family viewing. A celebration of Hunter Kelly's life will be held on Tuesday, August 9,2005 at 1pm at the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg, N.Y. Mike
  3. Having been a fan and observer of both teams in the last 10 years, I wholeheartely agree with that assessment. I hope the Pack heads to Rochester next summer for a few days...or even to have the scrimmage at the Ralph (why not?). Mike
  4. I just saw this on Yahoo. My eyes are welling up with tears as I write this, but there is the hope of heaven, and a far better place. Where Hunter can laugh, play, and throw a football. I believe it is in First Corinthians 15, where it is written that the perishable shall be replaced by the imperishable, and death shall be swallowed up in the victory of Christ. God bless you, Hunter, and the Kelly family. Mike
  5. In all seriousness, here's the song I had in mind. It's called "Hope to Carry On", and it was co-written by Rich Mullins, whom you see in my sig line. I can only remember how the first verse and chorus go. The song was recorded by a Christian band named Caedmon's Call. And if the lyrics are offensive to you, please note that I am not here to offend. This song means a lot to me personally. I can see Jesus hanging on the Cross (repeat 2x) He came looking for the lost, and Love has come Love has come Love has come And it's given me hope to carry on... Mike
  6. This one's just for /dev/null...get your cowbell ready. All our times have come Here but now they're gone Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain... We can be like they are Come on baby... don't fear the reaper Baby take my hand... don't fear the reaper We'll be able to fly... don't fear the reaper Baby I'm your man... Romeo and Juliet Are together in eternity... Romeo and Juliet Forty thousand men and women everyday... Like Romeo and Juliet Forty thousand men and women everyday... Redefine happiness Another forty thousand coming everyday... We can be like they are Come on baby...don't fear the reaper Baby take my hand... don't fear the reaper We'll be able to fly... don't fear the reaper Baby I'm your man... Love of two is one Here but now they're gone Came the last night of sadness And it was clear she couldn't go on Then the door was open and the wind appeared The candles blew then disappeared The curtains flew then he appeared... saying don't be afraid Come on baby...and she had no fear And she ran to him...then they started to fly They looked backward and said goodbye... she had become like they are She had taken his hand... she had become like they are Come on baby...don't fear the reaper Mike
  7. I don't remember Haslett's hit (I have read about it), but I remember seeing the tape of Turkey Jones' upheaval of Bradshaw. That was here in Cleveland, so it was the mud, not the carpet. The problem with Bradshaw is he has become such a court jester on Fox NFL Sunday that people forget what a great QB and tough hombre he was. Only he and Montana have won four Super Bowls. Mike
  8. I was up in Green Bay once, several years ago, and saw this tradition in action. It really makes a connection with the kids and the community. And this is the first time I saw another team do it with the Packers. Just make sure they don't pull a George W. Bush and fall off the bike, @$$ over applecart. Mike
  9. You are a truly sick man with too much time on his hands... Mike
  10. Judging from what I know about Ross Verba (which isn't a whole heckuva lot), I'm glad he's gone from Cleveland. And apparently no one in the league thinks Verba's much of an O Lineman either. LJ Shelton is the son of former NBA widebody Lonnie Shelton. While Shelton was playing for the Cavaliers, he averted his own mugging in Cleveland by sitting -- yes, I said sitting -- upon the would-be robber. Lonnie is 6'8" himself, and clocked in at well over three bills while still in the NBA. It would be dangerous to get between these two at Thanksgiving dinner. Mike
  11. Amen to that. I've gained all my weight back. And then some. Mike
  12. Because John Cooper isn't the coach anymore and Tressel's 3-1 against That Team Up North. Mike
  13. Man, you know what I like to hear. Mike
  14. They were from the 3rd Battalion out of Brook Park, Ohio. About 20 minutes south of me. This was the same unit that lost six earlier in the week, so they have lost TWENTY Marines this week. God Bless and Semper Fi. We will remember and support our troops. Mike
  15. You beat me and about four other people to it. Weenie. Mike
  16. Never had a Wegman's sub...nearest one to me is in Erie, two hours away. I will have to settle for one of Heinen's own Original Hoagies...mmm Hoagies. Mike
  17. An absolute miracle. No one killed, I've heard up to 43 injuries, including some broken arms and legs. I don't think we can speculate on pilot error yet, but it's obvious that the flight crew did one hell of a job getting everybody off the burning plane in about 90 seconds. Mike
  18. When is the NFL Network airing the Celebration of Champions that was taped June 4 at the Ralph? Did I miss it? Mike
  19. So far, Trent Dilfer's doing everything right. He seems to be a good influence not only on the field, but in the locker room as well. Ironically, he just bought a house not too far from where KWII decided to play Evel Knievel. Suffice it to say Dilfer's gonna be a better influence in the community than Winslow. The Browns are slowly starting to win me back, I'm afraid. That's not a bad thing, though. I guess you can't say that "nobody circles the drain like the Cleveland Browns" any longer. It will be interesting to watch. Mike
  20. Another note: I live only about 15 minutes from the Browns training facility, which is also where they hold camp. It is in Berea, a college town of about 20,000. I decided to go to the afternoon session today. You park your car about a half-mile away and walk through a residential neighborhood next to Baldwin-Wallace College. There were kids with stands set up selling refreshments and candy (nice touch). I got to see Trent Dilfer. It seems that the biggest crowds at camp were around him. Dilfer seems to have a fairly strong arm, but overthrew a few receivers. I thought it was remarkable that a team that hasn't won more than 9 games in a season since their rebirth had about 4,000 people at camp. The Browns will be better this year, but it won't show up in the record -- yet. Pencil them in for 4-12, but poised for bigger and better things in the future. Mike
  21. Puhonix is really Wyatt Sexton on a bender. Mike
  22. Zamboni Man prefers white wine and brie to hotdogs and a six-pack. Mike
  23. I had a tear in my eye from reading this. Maybe I should go back to being a full-time Browns fan. Honestly, it made me think of Gus and Thirdborn and how they're doing. Mike
  24. ExWNYer is really from South Florida and a Dolfelon troll. Mike
