  1. you missed my point. Had he not resisted arrest and needed to be tackled and cuffed he would t have had that problem. He would have been sitting in the back of a cop car going to jail instead of dying.

Better yet, had he not broken the law he wouldn't have been questioned in the first place.

It's his fault he was in legal trouble, it's the fault of those that recklessly caused his death that he is dead. Not every crime should result in an immediate execution.

and one more point, because this could go on forever. I can see why some people run from cops, if i were in some others shoes, i'm not sure I would trust them enough to just sit there and wonder if this is the a-hole cop or not.

  2. I never said he deserved to die. But I don't blame the cops for it. it's on him and him alone for the reason of his death. Had he not been breaking the law he wouldn't have been stopped. Had he not ran he wouldn't have been tackled. Had he not resisted arrest he wouldn't have received the injuries that killed him.

How hard is it to get stopped, comply with orders and calmly sit in the back of a cop car? After all, if your breaking the law it's in you. If your not breaking the law the truth will come out sooner than later.

a very naive take on this. It wasn't 'sitting calmly in the back of a cop car'. He had a broken back and was sitting in a van and tossed around as the driver had his fun making sudden swerves.

  3. hahaha. I would agree with you in certain cases and don't feel that all cops are honest. That would be ridiculous. But what do you feel about the Michae Brown case? A police officer that was being charged by a much larger individual clearly intent on harming him. Or what about the Freddie Gray case where 3 of the officers have recently been found not guilty? And how do you feel about the riots in those places that these things happened? You don't think individuals rioting and burning police cars and other buildings is a problem?

this could get deeper than I have time for, but... I don't defend michael brown. I'm not in total agreement with the cops version of the story, but I don't defend Brown. Re: Freddie Gray, from only what we learn from the news, this seems like a horrible decision. I don't know all the facts, but it would seem someone needs to be held accountable for this man's death. The riots are a much deeper issue, riots on their own are wrong, fighting back decades of racial injustice with no end in sight can cause an unfortunate reaction. At the time of the riots, I said, I don't like it, but I can see their point.

well, he was a criminal. He was in possession of a weapon and he was running from police. Why was he running you ask? Probably because he was up to no good and still on parole from previous prison time while carrying a weapon.

"Gray had a criminal record, on drug charges and minor crimes.[21] Gray had been involved in 20 criminal court cases, five of which were still active at the time of his death, and was due in court on a possession charge on April 24.[21][22] In February 2009, he was sentenced to four years in prison for two counts of drug possession with intent to deliver and was paroled in 2011. In 2012, he was arrested for violating parole but was not sent back to prison. In 2013, he returned to jail for a month before being released."

    therefore, he deserved to die.

  4. maybe they were found not guilty because they were black and so was the "victim"?

I think you were on to something earlier.

why was the word , victim, in quotes. Do you question that he was a victim? Was his death by a broken back and lack of medical care a reasonable outcome of the situation and he deserved to die.

so it doesnt matter if it is a black cop .. you just feel ALL cops target black people?

Let's be clear, it's almost always white cops.

  5. the last thing i saw on the news regarding cops that was a major story was that three in a row baltimore cops were found not guilty in the freddie gray case.. 2 of them were black as was the judge who rendered the decision.. you are making a stereotyped observation about cops IMHO

my view is that cops, regardless of color, have killed black citizens unlawfully and gotten away with it, as it looks like it will be in this case. Cops seems to get away with a lot.

  6. just curious. You sound like you know all this from experience. However you just said if we said it, we wouldn't be dead. Which makes me think you've never actually said F-Off to a cop because your actually here.

Is this really so foreign to you. Do you not pay attention to the news?

Your last sentence doesn't seem to follow what you previously said, but i think i get your point. No, i've never said f-off to a cop.I've never had a confrontation with one and try hard to avoid cops at all costs. I don't feel they are all bad, but I'm not willing to risk it.

  7. People hate Police, until they need them. People hate lawyers, until they need one. People hate CIA/NSA/TSA, until there is a terror attack they could have prevented had they not been ham strung by paranoid or thin skinned citizens. People hate realtors, almost always. I hate Genny Cream Ale.

No one ever hates EMTs. Odd, that they should make minimum wage for the responsibility they have.

To the matter at hand: citing terrorism for private lot patrols was not a great PR move. But, what does the OP do in private lots that he/she is so concerned about authority figures?

I would say most people hate the police that are on such power trips that they have no problem killing who they wish to. I would like cops more if perhaps a few of them might be decent enough to say that the bad ones are indeed, bad. But that would take courage without a gun to help be courageous. And yes, If i need a cop, I will call, in the hopes that I don't get one that feels that they are judge , jury and executioner. And btw, I hate lawyers, even when I need one. I just plug my nose when dealing with them.

  8. I would force them to draft Brady. Then tell them about Gronk a kid from WNY.

In an OTW topic /dev/null mentioned that if he could time travel he might go back and kneecap Tom Brady at the combine. I thought it would make for a fun topic: So what say you, Bills fans, you have one trip only to take in a time machine and you must go back and alter an event that was connected to your beloved Bills. What time frame are you going to and what event are you altering?

Here's one to start it off: I'm going back to the day before the 2004 draft and I'm convincing Tom Donahoe that he can't sit pat at the 13th spot and that he needs to swing a trade with Houston at number 10 to draft the person that he is hoping falls to him at 13, QB Ben Roethlisberger.

Your turn to take the Bills time machine for a spin.

Never fire Chuck Knox- to me that is the biggest mistake Ralph ever made, and he made a lot of them.
  9. I think in the Cleveland Indians scenario, it's the red faced Indian as the mascot/character on their uniforms that may be found as offensive more than anything. In this case, I don't see how the Indians can find a mascot that will satisfy everyone. Would it be ok if he was a little more brown skinned than red? In any event, I don't think any of these mascots were ever intended to offend. Side note: I have season tickets to FSU football. They are the FSU Seminoles and I join in on the tomahawk chop as a way to cheer our guys on. Never have I felt that I was doing it to offend anyone and still don't. The Seminole name is never used in that manner from what I can tell. It shows that as a unified team, they are strong just like the Seminole Tribe and kick ass! Any other assertion, I just don't see it and I've been going to games here since '93. What ever happened to being able to dress as a Mexican or "Indian" for Halloween?!? Now it's offensive but people dress as cowboys and it's ok. True story, my daughter dressed as Pocahontas for Halloween because she thought she was beautiful and some kids mother gave me a snide comment in front of her. I told her that it was because she saw her as beautiful and you just hurt her feelings. She saw her error and apologized. People are too PC today and fighting too many battles, imo.

When I attended St Bonaventure in the 80's, the team mascot had full headdress, the usual indian look that we saw on mascots. Eventually, the got rid of the mascot, and made the logo a more traditional looking Native American. All done with respect and no fanfare. It can be done.

  10. The thing that I would say is that I'm sure as generations go by, new generations probably don't care as much. I have spent lots of time on probably the most prominent reservation in the country (Pine Ridge, SD) and I can tell you that all the kids all listen to hip hop and love basketball and football. Sadly, very few are concerned with preserving their culture and traditions. I'm sure if you asked most 17-year old kids on the rez, they are way more interested in the NFL than reading or caring about the history of Geronimo. Conversely, I'm sure if you polled tribal leaders who oversee sweat lodges every week, that percentage would me much, much higher. It would shock me if it wasn't over 50%.

That being said, no one is saying it's the equivalent of the n-word or anything like that. It's just like, "hey guys, we were here for 70,000 years and within a century you pretty much wiped us off the planet with genocidal warfare and lies, etc. Though some of us remain proud, we have been reduced to a rather pathetic lot. Do you really have to use our likeness for your silly game? And if you are, that is not what we call or ever called ourselves."

This is a complicated one guys. As a liberal, I can even see the argument to keep it. When the team was named, it was a very different time and I am positive the intent was a good one. But the folks who oversimplify this matter with the "PC police" stuff- even it IS only 10% (which it isn't), that's still a lot of people. Think of how much of a jerk you would sound to them. I'm sure if you sat with an elder or two who did disapprove of the name for a night, they might be able to help you see their side of the argument.

Well done. The problem is that most people don't care if they offend any group of people, and many seem to enjoy offending others(Trump).

  11. What i got from this article is that Ryans love to take top 5 defenses and ruin them. Bryd is overpaid and even if he produced in NO like he did here he is not worth that money, but on the other hand don't we still need a safety? This seems to be a time where both the player and team made it work.

I think you need to read the article over, and a little more carefully.

There’s a new defensive coordinator upcoming in Dennis Allen, and we all saw what happened last time the team made a change in that area. The Saints went from the NFL’s worst defense in 2012 to a top-five unit when Rob Ryan replaced Steve Spagnuolo.

  12. I wasn't arguing the point, just trying to clarify that the writer didn't say that last season was an anomaly for Rex.

Ryan showed me who he was last season when he was unable or unwilling to work with the defensive talent in place. The best coaches mold their systems to their players. He can't/won't. So we wound up a lot of players who didn't fit the scheme, many of whom were way overpaid for what they were asked to do. Some of them are gone, but not all of them. Now we just used virtually a whole draft to help get players who fit Rex's scheme and, as a result, totally neglected adding some desperately needed offensive help. Last season, when I realized what was going on, I predicted that Rex would last just long enough here to dismantle the impressive, attacking defense that was in place. That we'd wind up with some expensive leftovers from that defense mixed with his more passive and complicated style of players. In short, that the defense will be a mess for the next coaching staff. I hope I'm wrong, but I still think this is where it's heading.

I'm not so sure that this is an accurate statement. I would suggest that coaches get players that fit their system. Last year they didn't do that and it showed.

  13. It's not nearly as important as it used to be. Disrupting the QB is crucial for defenses in today's game considering the rule changes and the increase of emphasis in the passing game on offense.... We were among the best in the league at this in 2014.... Last year not so much....

That's just ridiculous. Try to win with a poor run defense, teams won't have to throw.
