  1. It's not nearly as important as it used to be. Disrupting the QB is crucial for defenses in today's game considering the rule changes and the increase of emphasis in the passing game on offense.... We were among the best in the league at this in 2014.... Last year not so much....

That's just ridiculous. Try to win with a poor run defense, teams won't have to throw.

  2.

    SO....

MLB bans Pete Rose from HOF and basically anything and everything related to baseball because he gambled on baseball games, but OJ Simpson is still to be remembered as one of the all time greats even though he murdered his boo.

    Makes sense to me.

Technically , this is incorrect. MLB has no say in who is on the HOF ballot. This is strictly a move by the HOF, although I'm sure they take their cue from MLB. And 'remembering' someone isn't something you can make a proclamation against doing.

  3. No, No and hell no. You guys obviously never saw him run. Post NFL crap aside still the best running back I ever saw. He could stiff arm a guy and run over him. Flat out run around the other team or break a guys jock a la Barry Sanders all at 6'2". 2nd fastest guys in the league when he was there behind only Cliff Branch. So no dont do it just because twitts are bandwagoning against OJ. Sorry this imo is an irresponsible stupid thread that caters to the trumpisms of the world and Graham has long been known for his hatred of the Bills, heck the guys is from Miami but wasnt good enough to get job down there.

Wrong! just plane politically correct wrong.

The thought police are at it again. Just because post NFL the man did something henious, doesnt mean he should be erased, both sides of his greateness and vileness should be remembered imo.

This has nothing to do with being 'plain' politically correct. While I don't agree with the unretire of the number(and really don't care either way) it's a legitimate question for legitimate reasons. Stop trying to act like Trump- one of him is one too many.

Will be on TV soon. I read a review saying it's an amazing OJ documentary.

  4. No way. One of the best ever. Point.blank Period. I'm betting most of the people who vote yes never lived through his heydey or saw him play live.

    Besides, his son did it.

    He was found 'not guilty'

  5. Buffalo on the rise?

Biggest threat in the AFC East: Buffalo Bills

The Patriots' spot here is based almost entirely on the four-game suspension Tom Brady is expected to serve to start the season -- if not for that, they'd definitely be No. 8 on this list. They do catch a break in that three of their first four games are at home, though they have to go to Arizona to open the season. Dion Lewis (who went on injured reserve in early November) should be back, while Martellus Bennett was added to an aerial attack that already included premier tight end Rob Gronkowski and receiver Julian Edelman. Also, the team brought back retired offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia to fix a troublesome unit that was bedeviled by injuries in 2015. Backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo simply hasn't played very much, making him hard to evaluate -- meaning there will be a relative wild card under center for the first quarter of the season.

This is another division that made improvements from top to bottom, with three potential challengers to the Pats. The Bills did a lot to help themselves, extending left tackle Cordy Glenn and coming away with an impressive draft haul. Still, Brady or no, it's not wise to bet against Bill Belichick, who simply finds ways to win. I expect New England to ultimately capture its eighth consecutive division title.

Even though we have what's considered an excellent draft, to expect 3 and maybe more rookies to impact your team is asking an awful lot.

  6. A 7 PPG swing on one side of the ball would be ridiculous!

However, if all they do is convert 1 TD into a FG, that is a 4 point improvement. And if the D improves and they improve field position and allow the Offense to score 1 more FG a game, then combined we have a 7 PPG swing for the team.

Where does a 4PPG improvement on D and a 3PPG improvement on O put us?

edit: Answering my own question... A 3PPG improvement on O would give us 26.7 PPG, and be the #4 scoring offense. A 4PPG improvement on D would give us 18.4PPG and the #4 scoring defense.

That's playoffs guaranteed, if not a Super Bowl appearance.

Let's not forget that other teams added players as well and expect to improve also. It's game by game that matters, making critical plays and equally as important, avoiding critical mistakes. To borrow a cliche, statistics are for losers. They need to learn how to win.

  7. second year under Roman, and the line settling down last year should be an advantage to Shady. as it would any player, especially RB though. Knowing what his guys are going to do or not do actually will help him make better decisions which path to follow.

This guy can cut like no bodies business. But he could make slightly better choices. Never for lack of effort though.

Second year in for so many players and coaches will define this team IMHO.

I'm really excited to watch him play this season. Don't understand people wasting so much time and effort to complain about his contract, they've complained since day 1 and will continue to complain until his career here is over, and likely won't stop there. He's a great back, looking forward to seeing him carry the ball, he's explosive and a game changer.

  8. He'll forego the 7 yard gain to cut outside and try to make a big play. And then come back and do the same the next play. Sometimes that results in less yardage. He's also one of the most elusive backs there is so you win some you lose some. He regularly makes something out of nothing, though G Ro doesn't need his backs to do that as much as past Bills coaches have because he knows how to open holes for em.

McCoy is insistent on choosing his own hole which to me works better in a more spread offense like Andy Reid's or Chip's. Roman's offense is power run designed for a back to set up his blocks and get up the field in a hurry. One cut runners with power to tack on yards at the end of the run are the optimal fit.

It'll work fine because he's a good back working with the best run game coordinator in the league. There were 2 or 3 games this year we wouldn't have won without standout performances from Shady including Color Rush against the Jets, shouldn't be overlooked. But in this system we'll squeeze more juice from a back of the same caliber but who moves up the field aggressively and wants to go with the play and grind.

Just one take o course, I don't foresee a huge dropoff when he moves on.

you've seen him give up 7 yard gains? Is it really that obvious.

  9. The Bills' roster and cap situation is rather unique in that it has a very low amount of $$ allocated to the QB position. So if you factor in the fact that Tyrod is playing for $1M or whatever, I think it justifies a higher-than-normal allocation of cap dollars to other positions, including running back.

That said, putting aside his contract number, I question Shady's fit for Roman's offense. Seemed to me that Karlos and Gilleslee ran Roman's plays just as well, if not better than Shady. And I'm a HUGE fan of the Jon Williams pick and I think he too will thrive in Roman's offense. So I'm not sure we need Shady at all (I know it's sacrilege, but I'd much rather have a playmaking linebacker who can defend the pass well...)

so you would have no problem getting rid of mccoy and having Gilleslee take his place?

Why would you question Shady's fit in Roman's offense. He was excellent last year when healthy. What doesn't fit?

  10. Biggest issue at play here is that other teams now have lots of film on:

    1) Tyrod Taylor

    2) Roman's unique rush offense with these exact same players

Last year both caught many opponents by surprise.

The assumption is that experience together will mean progress but with little change planned and clear questions about the right side of the OL(think Eagles game implosion) and Tyrod's ability to read defenses and throw receivers open the offense then becomes a stationary target for defensive game planners with last season's film on hand.

We've seen QB progress halted by film study many, many times. I don't expect Tyrod to go Trent/JP or even Fitz level bad but he already nearly lead the league in 3 and outs and couldn't possibly protect the ball any better.........so there are holes in his game and he could actually get worse if those punts turn into pics.

This is why I valued a #1A WR as the most important need.

If you have an elite talent opposite Watkins you force both safeties to vacate the LOS which exposes them to the run game and diminishes the effect of games they may want to play with Tyrod.

sounds simple enough, but the fact is we are run oriented team with emphasis on a strong defense to complement the run game. That was the plan at the start of last season, it's not going to change after one season.

And we have film of all defenses that we face this season, especially of NE, how much has that helped in the past 10-12 years?
