I think all teams will be in a better spot if they reach an agreement on rookie salaries as part of the new CBA. A top 5 pick is absolute poison to a team. You pay 10's of millions to a completely unproven guy, leaving next to no money to sign guys that can shore up other areas of the team; hence, the top 5 guy busts out. And you're right back to where you started in a few years. I'd offer that, as much as anything, is leading to the division between good and bad teams. The good teams have more money to spread around to mid-round picks, while signing their proven veteran players. The bad teams, however, spend all their money on high-round, unproven rookies; while being forced to let their proven veterans walk. IMO, a slotted system for rookies will lead to fewer (high quality) FAs leaving teams and therefore more stability and improved performance from all teams.

Mularkey Bails On Denver HC Interview
Dan replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wait... I'm confused. I thought the Bills was the only franchise so terrible that people declined interviews to be HC? What does this mean? what does this mean? -
My Bruce reference was in relation to a player giving up penalties at bad times, but making up for it with big plays at other times. Yeah, it's only 5 yards, but on 3rd and 4 that's still a first down. No worries though, bad analogy perhaps. I agree. His temper needs to be coached out of him. But, I'm not seeing any references to Haynesworth. But, I still say give me a big mean guy that plays mad on the line any day over the wusses we have now.
-
Kinda like Bruce with all his offsides. He'd get called quite a bit. But, if he's makin sacks, I can live with it. Now I agree, the guy needs to play with some discipline and not make stupid penalties. But, I like the attitude.
-
Knock.. ? I'd love to have a defensive lineman that plays mean! This team needs someone with some attitude and fire.
-
Furthermore, those guys (the Vick's and VY's) may have have lots of success, but it doesn't seem to continue through the playoffs. So, like I said.. I'm not sold.

I'm seeing another one of these option QBs that looks to run first; then makes throws to wide open receivers. What makes this guy so much better than all the other option QBs that have been drafted recently? Honestly, what am I missing? Fairley on the other hand is looking like a force out there.
-
I was thinking the exact same thoughts. They definitely need to be changing the cleats out there - a lot of slipping so far. And it almost looked like he alligator armed it. The throw was there, I thought. I really don't like all these college, option QBs. If that's Newton's game, I'm not sold. Oregon, easily has the hotter cheerleaders.

Lynch's run caused an earthquake in Seattle. Pretty awesome, if you think about it.
-
Rediculous! This one game is more than enough to determine if he's the best QB in the NFL next year. Heck, I'll have the answer before the 1st quarter is over.

The assumption immediately inferred is that Ralph and Chan are meeting (or at least talking) each week and that Ralph is injecting some sort of opinion or mandate into how to run the team. An hour or two meeting/conversation with the owner each week about the team and what your doing is not too much too much to ask; IMO. I'd agree, if Ralph is insisting upon changes in the gameplan, then yes it's a problem. But, if he just wants to get the inside scoop every week from the HC; it's certainly within his right and I don't see how it can do any harm.

Good thread. Please, post more.

Arizona congresswoman among 18 shot at Tucson grocery

Thank you and I completely agree with your post. I tend to identify left of center, but by no means does that mean the right doesn't have a lot of good ideas. I've yet to ever see one party or individual have all the right answers. Unfortunately, moderation, compromise and reason seem to be a lost commodity. -

I've attempted to state that it's both sides that are taking their comments to the extreme. Both sides should tone down their completely polarized rhetoric. Did any of this actually serve as a motive for this nut? I don't know yet. However, I think the point remains, and this act just highlights the hatred that is being spewed, that there's a growing trend to polarize everything to the extremes. -
Exactly. I didn't see Glazer's report, but did he say the Saints would have given a 3rd in '11 and a pick in '12 or was it just a 3rd in '11? A likely high 4th (at the time) and a pick in '12 is better than a low 3rd pick. But I guess it's just easier to jump off the ledge and conclude the Bills suck.

Good point, although I'd rather hear about the victims than the victimizer. Still though it would be nice to not run the entire thing into the ground. -
But if my team signs one of the best FA DBs in the game AND drafts the best pass rushing DE in the draft and LB; I think I win. Why can't you do both?

I agree with you, mostly. The guy definitely seems like a complete and total nutjob with views and beliefs all over the spectrum. Therefore, I wouldn't blame just one source for his actions. It's not just Rush or Beck or Olberman or Dobbs or take your pick... it's all of them. It's also most all of the politicians in office and those running for office. It' almost impossible to not be exposed to extreme anti-establishment blabbering - some quite extreme. So, take a completely unbalanced individual that has extreme anti-government, anti-world, anti-social views and expose him to repeated hate speech and you're just winding his time bomb. Perhaps the guy would have done this regardless; but certainly a steady stream of hate-filled name-calling and extreme rhetoric by people (pundits and politicians) doesn't help. I'm not sure how exposed this idiot would have been to all this; so you could be right there. Perhaps we'll learn more; although I kinda hope not. I really dislike the 24/7, tell us everything about this guy, and make him some sort of bizarre celebrity that is surely to follow. -

That's what you would think would happen. However, as you can already ascertain from reading this thread... it won't. Was this guy nuts? I think that goes without saying. What normal, sane person shoots anyone in the head; let alone everyone he sees? Was this guy influenced by the highly polarized political rhetoric that we've all been exposed to on a 24/7/365 basis? Most likely. That's the problem though. The rhetoric in this country has become so polarized that it's reaching a point of no return. I asked this months ago and got exactly the answer expected... is there anything that Obama could do that the Republicans would like? Conversely, is there anything that Palin could do that the Democrats would like? The answer is more and more.. No. Both sides have been spewing hate and hyperbolic vitriol for so long that its going to be extremely difficult for anyone to tone it down and acknowledge the other side has a good idea. I give Obama credit for at least trying. He's tried to make overtures for civility. He's tried to meet with both party leaders. And in all cases it's' fallen on deaf ears - by both sides. I just wish more political leaders would follow his lead and stop painting the world as black and white, good and bad and tone down the extreme mis-characterization of everything. This country is weaker because of it. -
One season? Most posters here can determine if a player is good after one OTA!
-
I'm suggesting that if they try to build the team by bringing in every high-priced FA they can, i.e. blowing the bank to build a winner, then they'd meet the same results every other team has found that tried that approach. Football, more than any other sport, is about a collection of players performing together as a team; not a couple of individuals that single-handedly win games.

Exactly what I expect and hope for, as well.
