RIP...a conservative anyone could respect. Not one of the loons... I know you love that clip of him flipping off the audience on "Real Time", but it never stopped him from doing the show.

Woman cut in half by faulty elevator in NYC
Buftex replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
My girlfriend avoids elevators as much as possible, because she saw the aftermath of something similar to this, about 25 years ago... One of the more impactful "Six Feet Under" opening scenes...not for the easily squeemish: -
Boycotting the final three games
Buftex replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been saying it for some time...if the, god forbid, the Bills were to ever leave Buffalo, I think, ultimately, what I would miss most is the camaraderie of other Bills fans, more than the team itself. The fans are the best thing about Buffalo Bills football. -
Is Ralph or other people in the Bills FO racist?
Buftex replied to mike oxhurtz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with what you are saying. I am not pointing to anyone here, but I know that there are a lot of Bills fans who would have flipped out if the Bills had drafted Cam Newton, for instance. And, there might have been valid concerns about how well he would do in the NFL. But, I also think there are fans in Buffalo who would have a hard time accepting a black QB. I don't mean to imply that this is only Bills fans...I think that would hold true in a number of NFL cities. Winning tends to make folks not see color, but getting over that hurdle at the outset can be difficult. -

Not to add fuel to the OP fire, but I heard Howard Simon, referring to this thread, earlier this morning. He said (and remember, this is him saying it, not me) that a player agent, for a Buffalo Bills player (wouldn't say which player) had intimated that there was a perception amongst some players and agents that the Bills may be racially motivated in the way they deal with some players. Now, you might think Howard Simon is a dip-****, and the GR guys know nothing about the Bills (could all be true), but it was interesting to hear him say that. -

Performance against Expectations
Buftex replied to VirginiaMike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only thing is, despite the snappy start, I believe, this team has regressed from last year, ever since. As a perenially disappointed Bills fan, I am accustomed to overlooking poor efforts...run for the bus kind of games at the end of the season. However, the efforts against both Dallas and San Diego were so poor...we didn't see efforts like this, last season, until the final week or two...no doubt the injuries have played some role in this collapse, but that isn't all of it. In the Chargers game, the only guys who looked at all interested in trying to play competitive football were Caussin, Hagan and Choice... -
Not bad....from the looks of it, training camp must consist of two-a-days in a tanning salon.

I will take your word for it, but that means Ryps baby-moma must be a knockout....he is one of the ugliest mo-fos in NFL history!

As most of you know, I think, Terrance Winter was the #2a guy behind the scenes on "The Sopranos". First was, of course, David Chase, and then Terrence Winter, and Matthew Weiner ("Mad Men")...both "Mad Men" and "Boardwalk Empire" revisit a lot of the same themes as "The Sopranos". Margaret and her conflicted feelings for Nucky and the way he provides for her and her kids, is a pure re-telling of the saga of Tony & Carmella Soprano. It always seems, on all these "dark shows" many viewers end up hating the female characters...if you recall, Tony never "whacked" Carmella, and Nucky will never do the same to Margaret...besides, she is a babe!

Signing Merriman, Letting Spiller Run Wild...
Buftex replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After a solid first half against the Titans (80 yards, including a 35 yard TD run, and another 40 yard TD run called back for a phantom hold), how many carries did Spiller get in the second half? 3 carries for 3 yards. I like Gailey and all, but I don't see how you can not come to the conclusion that he is a little too enamored with the passing game sometimes. Call me nuts, but I think Choice has looked pretty good, so far...he may turn out to be a real good pick up. I hadn't realized he played for Gailey at GA Tech. -

How will Bills finish last 3 games of the season?
Buftex replied to TAinLack.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, it would be nice, but not likely. Unless the Bills defense gets a lot better over the final three weeks, Tebow is going to kill them. Did you see the Broncos/Bears game this weekend? I would argue, the Bears have a much better defense than the Bills, and they folded like a house of cards when Tebow did his thing...like they made every mistake that they needed to make, to allow the Tebow legend to grow another notch. I think most of these teams losing to Tebow, because they are going into prevent mode at the end, which, all of the sudden, opens up easy passes for Tebow to complete. Passes that weren't there the rest of the game. However, with the way the Bills play defense, I am not so sure it is going to come down to a fantastic finish, as those easy passes will likely be there the whole game for the Broncos. Think about it...this team appears to have quit already this season...what are the chances that they beat the Broncos, on Christmas Eve, when the Broncos will likely need the game to win their division...I am going to be there, and I hope to god I am wrong, but I think the Broncos prevail...what I have seen of the Bills as of late is not inspiring a lot of confidence in me. I think, after their initial success, the Bills have regressed, and aren't even as good as last years team. -

It was those damn spandex...but honestly, roughly the same time, Maren Jensen, the chick who played Athena on the original Battlestar Galactica was pretty smoking too... Great call! How could I have forgotten Ann Margaret? -
I understand, on shows like this, you can never be too surprised when something like this happens...

Fitz is streaky...sometimes he is very accurate, but, games like yesterday, he was just friggin' awful. Our recievers have enough problems on their own, but catching Fitz' underthrows, and grounders just insures that there is no yardage after the catch, if a catch is made. He has had off games before, but normally manages to correct the problems as the game goes on...yesterday was just bad. The line is what it is...there are lots of QB's in the NFL who play behind mediocre lines, and manage to move the ball. There have been numerous times over the course of this 6 game skid where Bills receivers have had the coverage beat, only to have Fitz overthrow them by a mile, or underthrow them, giving the defense the advantage. He has some work to do. I still like the guy, and I think he is a "stand-up guy" who will do what it takes to get better, but make no mistake, his inaccuaracy is a part of the problem.
-
I am assuming it died when all the injuries took their toll, and our designated wildcat guy, Brad Smith, had to move to receiver full time...depth always an issue with this team....
-
Yes, absolutely disgusting on all sides. Liked what the coaches had to say afterwards, but lets' see how they follow through.

Wow...wow...wow...this series just made a seismic shift the last two episodes...gotta say, I didn't see the events of last nights' finale coming...not sure how I feel about it...I thought, if anyone, Eli was going to get it...

Bingo!!! He is plausible, because he is already there...as Lancaster Steve mentions, perhaps Buddy plans on stepping down. If he does, it would be logical to hand the reigns over to your "assistant GM", or why bother having one? I would love to see somebody like Whaley get a shot, as we are not likely to land a top level candidate. Whaley could be the next Polian type...and his connections are to the Steelers, a team that knows how to do things, in today's NFL. He is young, and honeslty, I think he has been a major upgrade as director of pro-player personnel, than the "Guy" he replaced. Assuming Ralph is around for a while longer, and a new owner does't have his own ideas, I say, Whaley is the guy.
