  1. I always liked Lebron, and always thought, for his age, he was pretty mature. I liked initially, though, because he was an elite talent, playing for a miserable franchise in Cleveland. The fact that he was from the Cleveland/Ohio area made his success all the more appealing to me. As long as he wasn't playing my team, I had no problem rooting for him. For a young kid, growing up in public, I rarely saw him embarrass himself, or his city. "The Decision" was a huge PR blunder, granted...and I think he realizes that now. I root against him, because his in Miami...as a Bills fan, my hatred for the Miami Dolphins is so ingrained, it has made me always root against all Florida teams, any sport, any level. I would guarantee, if Lebron had gone about leaving the Cavs, in exactly the same fashion, and had gone to, say, the Lakers, perception of him would be much different.
  2. Florio reports rumblings that VY is having trouble picking up the offense.
  3. Don't know if it would be considered a "football" movie, more about football fans...but I thought "Big Fan" was one of the funnier movies I have seen in a while...not a "big fan" of Patton Oswald, so I wasn't expecting to like it...the ending was, IMO, one of the best movie endings ever. Great, dark humor. Also, I loved "Everybody's All American".
  4. Uh..okay...definitely trust your DirecTV over the network that will broadcast it... Incidentally, I have been checking for the Bills Yearbook listing on the ESPN guide...they just added their information for July 4th, in the last day or two...I would assume they are more likely to be right than a second party broadcast carrier. Just sayin...you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink it! FWIW: checked my Time Warner cable guide (only goes a week ahead) and it shows the Rams yearbook scheduled for broadcast at 2:30 AM on Wednesday, 6/27...exactly one week earlier (Wednesday July 4th @2:30am) than the ESPN schedule shows the Bills broadcast. The thing that screws these schedules up, sometimes, are live sporting events that run over their allotted times...one year, because of a long baseball game (is there any other kind) they joined the Bills yearbook "in progress" after the game, and a showing of Sports Center...skipped the first 10 minutes.
  5. ESPN website, tv listings: http://espn.go.com/espntv/onair/index?start=7-03-12-11:00-PM btw- I have a DVR too! I have been spending way too many hours, over the last 5 years or so, transferring old VHS to DVD. Lots and lots of old Bills games...been a blast. By the time I get done with my project (and succeed in getting rid of 100's of VHS tapes), I suspect DVD's will too, be fully obsolete! They are halfway there are already!
  6. Me. Just purchased a brand new Toshiba VCR a few months ago!
  7. The "2011 Buffalo Bills Yearbook" is scheduled to air on ESPN2 on Wednesday morning, July 4th! at 2:30AM eastern... start your holiday boozing early! Really early! It looks like this is the only scheduled airing on the ESPN networks. Those of you with the NFL Network may have other options!
  8. FWIW: According to Pro Football Talk, Thigpen may have the edge on VY...Florio speculating more than anything...but this is the first I had heard that VY was having been having trouble picking up the Bills offense. Gailey's tweet gives me the sense that it may be true. http://video.nbcsports.msnbc.com/nbc-sports/47924947
  9. Happy birthday...hope you have a great new year!
  10. That's a clown argument bro... I don't think anyone here (other than me) is a Celtics fan. Most (here anyways) hated the C's as much, at one time, as they do the Heat. The Heat, being hated, is good for the game. Loved it that Garnett and Rondo walked off, if that is how they felt... never bothered me that Lebron did it a few years ago. Or the Pistons way back. If guys want to congratulate the other team afterward, that is their business. I don't hold it against them. But if a guy is playing his heart out and loses, and is pissed or disappointed, I have no problem with them not doing it. They always say the NHL playoffs are so awesome, because the players line-up and shake hands afterwards...but honestly, to me, it is just an empty, institutionalized tradition...if you don't mean it, don't do it. I am near certain that neither Garnett or Rondo has any personal animosity toward the Heat players...but they were pissed, and disappointed in themselves. Everyone deals with that different. I am sure Lebron and co. didn't lose any sleep over it. I really think ESPN has sucked the passion out of sports... these guys aren't Colin Cowherd, sitting back and analyzing the slights that those mean guys made to their latest "man crush"... I suspect that most players, on either team, would understand this...it is douchebag analysts that make it an issue, so they have something to spew about all day...players really don't give a ****, and they understand it. The silver lining, for me, in seeing the Heat win, is seeing McAdoo get another ring. He never got a chance to do it with the Braves...
  11. Saw this earlier today...figured GoBillsinDallas had already posted it....was about to post it with the title "GoBillsinDallas sleeping on the job"...but then I saw your thread, and the sub-heading "would", and I knew you were on the case, Dr D!
  12. Eh, he is also an arrogant, egomaniac...as someone who would probably agree with him, politically, his endorsement of anything political is sure to get a "elitist limousine liberal" tag from the other side of the aisle. I don't necessarily think that celebrities should not espouse their political views, but the way some do it (like Baldwin) is a turn off to many, and is sure to make people deaf to their message. I think Baldwin is a good actor, mind you, but I don't really like him...if that makes sense. I think he is good on "30 Rock", from the handuful of episodes I have seen.
  13. No, I don't hate you at all...you crack me up, most of the time...but I do hate Alec Baldwin...jeez, this is tough!
  14. I feel the passion in your writing, but, honeslty, the pre-season isn't really about what you or I think about the Bills, it is about the coaches and players figuring out what will work best for them, and give them the best chance to win, once the real bullets start flying. They have to figure out who plays best together, and who their best players are. Sure, some spots are nailed down (even though Chan will insist they aren't), but a lot of these are just still names. We just get a chance to watch them trying to figure it out. It isn't what we think, it is what the coaches think. I think people are getting a little ahead of themselves. I think you are mistaken if you think the Bills can start out 0-3 and make the playoffs. They need to start strong, and finish strong. Of course, anything could happen...but an 0-3 start would be more likely, IMO, to put us in the "maybe next year" category. Sure, the Bills may give the Pats a scare, but unless the Bills win their division, a wild card spot is far from a sure thing if they finish second in the division. Fans in Kansas City, Denver, Oakland, San Diego, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Houston, Pittsburgh and Tennessee probably all feel like that their team has a legit chance to make the playoffs too.
  15. You can't really succumb to playing into fears about injuries in pre-season. The Bills look much improved, on paper, and the football media seems to be fawning all over them...but, I am sure nobody needs to be reminded, they still haven't done anything... this isn't the Kelly/Levy Bills...those guys were a well-oiled machine...the 2012 Bills are still a collection of nice parts...they haven't put it together...yet.
  16. Funny, I always picuter DC Tom as Ashton Kutchner...for some strange reason....I hate Ashton Kutchner!
  17. Joe the plumber, and Karen the bus monitor in 2016!
  18. Crayonz has predicted, correctly, every finals winner correctly, since 2008, when Boston won. Last season was a little murkier...before the playoffs started, however, he did say that neither Boston, the Lakers or Miami would win it...it would be a dark horse team...I know he mentioned Dallas and/or Denver as the most likely winners. IIRC, he predicted, well in advance, when Lebron would get his first ring...and it was 2012. I have been arguing with him about the whole "NBA is fixed" thing for years. I still won't concede...but he does seem to know what is going to happen. Crayonz, if you read this, just let me know when Boston gets back to the winners circle so I can save myself some stress. All in all, a pretty fun playoff season for the NBA. Honestly, I would have been happier to see just about any team win the whole damn thing, rather than Miami. The hate that fueled these playoffs was fun...I am one who thinks there is plenty of room in sports for hate... hate to say it, but Miami winning a ring with there "big 3" was inevitable...might as well get it over with. Deep in my heart, I was really hoping for a Lakers/Celtics finals...just one more time...but I think we are about to hit a stretch where either Lebron, Durant, or both, are in the finals for some time to come.
  19. Fireman, policeman, cowboy,indian... for the life of me I can't remember their being a chef in the Village People!
  20. Not sure how to feel about the lack of Friday night games, and more Sunday night games. That is the way it used to be, I just got used to Friday night games...now they are mostly gone again.
  21. Nice post...especially for a kegtapr!
  22. Happy birthday Gringo Starr! I can't remember a time you pissed me off here, and, I must say, you have one of the best handles of anyone here on TSW! So, drink up, and be happy!
  23. I guess it changes over time...I remember reading the same about Patrick Stewart some time ago.
  24. When I was a lad, the school janitor was also a bus driver... when things got out of hand, he was also the monitor. If anything went wrong, he would pull the bus over, read us the riot act, and tell us that everyone had to shut up the rest of the way home. Violaters would be prosecuted! I do remember a time when there was a fight, right when we got off the bus...the driver got out, pulled both of the kids back into the bus, and drove them back to the school...parents were called to pick them up!
