  1. The article you are linking will not open. I am not sure of what reviews of his wife's book you are referencing, but if you see the documentary "The Tillman Story", Pats' family leaves little doubt that he wasn't in full support of the mission he undertook. As they (his family, the people the knew him) portray it, although he was in doubt about the wisdom of the mission, he was loyal to his fellow troops, more than anything. They were all surprised, though they understood (because it was part of his DNA- loyalty) when he re-enlisted. His wife, brother and parents all certainly gave that impression. IIRC, I think it was his wife, who mentioned, early on, right after his death, when he was being given military honors at college and pro football games across Arizona, she felt conflicted about accepting their requests for her to participate, given his feelings about the mission. I suspect, if Mrs Tillman didn't mention these things in her book (and I will assume you are right) it was because she was honoring her husbands memory, rather than trying to make a political statement out of his life and death. It would be nice to be able to read the link that you guys are referencing, but from what I know of the Tillman story, it seems like you, and others here, are basically jumping all over a MSN media source (whatever that means anymore) because it is is not in line with your wishes, while ignoring the actual story that inspired all of these things. If anyone is guilty of besmirching, you would have to accuse Tillman's family. You really want to got there? The whole bit about a "liberal not being able to comprehend giving up millions to serve their country" is just a further insight into your partisanship on this particular topic. Most can't comprehend it, which is why he was revered as such a hero, and symbol of the greatness of the American spirit. It is not like there have been thousands, or even dozens, who made the kind of personal sacrifice that Tillman made, to serve their country. If there were, we likely wouldn't even be talking about Pat Tillman all these years later. His sacrifice is part of what made him such a great symbol.
  2. Haven't seen the show...but I am assuming this is supposed to be active players? How many great running backs have been on a Super Bowl winning team, in the last 10 years or so? Haven't thought about it with any research, but I would bet it is not many. So that list doesn't look all that off to me. It's a passing game, baby!
  3. She was an assistant cheerleadig coach? Maybe she wanted to be head coach!
  4. Still kind of unsure how I feel about them having Rick flying solo in the booth for home games. I guess Ray will be chirping in from the ice level. I never really liked that set up...but maybe it will be less cumbersome with two people than three.
  5. Shame on you too!
  6. It's funny...of course the Steelers have a lot of "band wagon fans"...because they have had a great history, for the most part. So many here get excited when an ESPN talking head says they think the Bills will contend for a playoff spot, 3 months before the season starts. Honestly, having a lot of "bandwagon fans" (think Packers, as much as you think Patriots or Cowboys) is kind of what most franchises aspire to. As for "Steeler fans", I don't think you can paint all of them the same with one brush stroke. I have been to about 2/3 of the stadiums in the NFL for games, and I have to say, if I were to simply judge a franchise by the way their fans act at a game (or a sports bar), Bills fans would rank among the lower end, for being "classy", if we are just judging things on how a handful of fans act. I have seen some pretty bad behavior at the Ralph/Rich stadium. Doesn't mean I don't love going to games at the Ralph...no place better. Honeslty, as an adult male who doesn't scare easily, I would much rather attend a game in a raucus atmosphere, even if there is a little danger element involved, than a placid stadium. I would never expect to go to a visiting teams turf where all the fans, each and every one, is classy, and tells me how great my Bills are. It wouldn't happen at the Ralph, in regards to fans of other, why would I expect it at Heinz field, or any other stadium and expect anything more?
  7. Rick Jeanerett just announced he will do all of the Sabres games this coming season...says the decrease in back to backs made the schedule easier for him...missed the game a bit more than he anticipated last year, when he was off...excited about the season!
  8. Shame on you.
  9. OKAY...NOW EVERYTHING IS SWITCHED AROUND... THE BUFFALO BILLS 2011 YEARBOOK IS SCHEDULED FOR 6/27/12 @ 2:30 AM eastern, ON ESPN2
  10. OC...I have come to enjoy your posts...but man, you are delusional sometimes! I guess that helps when you are a Bills fan. For me, I have never lived in Pittsburgh, but I have known many Steelers fans over the years. I think they are, in general a pretty solid lot. No problems with them whatsoever. Nearly every sports bar in town has a very large contingent of Steelers fans on board every Sunday. They are loyal. btw- as for point #1- I hate to say it, but I have heard the same thing amongst Bills fans. Part of me was so wanting the Bills to get Cam Newton...not that I was so sure he would be a great NFL player, but just to carpet bomb the idiots in "Bills-nation"
  11. Was looking at the Direct TV on-line listing..it has the St. Louis Rams Yearbook listed on ESPN2, and the Buffalo Bills Yearbook listed on ESPN2 HD at the same time...this is all very confusing. Time Warner shows the St Louis Rams Yearbook for both channels at that time, and the Buffalo Bills on July 4th, at the same time. EDIT: Okay, just checked again, and now the ESPN website shows the Buffalo Bills Yearbook to be on at 2:30am on 6/27, but still has it listed for 7/4 at 2:30am
  12. Spooge's main squeeze is now on "True Blood"....was thinking about it, and I remember she was also in the (excellent) movie "Winter's Bone"...about backwoods meth heads...type-casting?
  13. I love scoth... scoth, scotch, scotch!
  14. Great Johnny Cash song...sort of novelty...but worth the 5 seconds of ad you have to sit through on Youtube.
  15. Sorry Guff. Your dad left his mark. I lost my mom this year, so I can relate in some way. I have a handful of those programs that feature his artwork. Believe it or not, I have a copy of the Bills/Oilers that you linked in your first thread, framed and hung on my wall. It is autographed by Ernie Warlick. When my uncle died, I got a whole stack of 60's Bills programs from him. I love that kind of stuff.
  16. People get paid to write that garbage?
  17. I had the same experience being confused for James Gandolfini, when the "Sopranos" first started. I wasn't as fat (then), but neither was Gandolfini! I was at a Chris Isaak concert, and two girls asked me for my autograph. Like you, I obliged, but just signed my real name. I have also gotten the Bruce Willis and Michael Chiklis comparisons. In all honestly, Gandolfini and Chiklis are closer than Willis, at this point.
  18. I might agree with you on the first Super Bowl...but Eli was pretty outstanding most of the 2011 season. It isn't all stats. He was helped by a fierce pass rush from his defense, but Eli has progessed steadily, IMO, to an upper tier QB.

  20. I am not probably a big enough film fanatic to think of movies in terms of years...more eras. Love early to mid-70's Hollywood... A local theater, that has lots of film festivals, is having a "Summer of '82" film series this summer...they proclaim it as the best year for summer films. It had "Wrath of Kahn", "E.T.", "Conan The Barbarian", etc.. thought it was a cool idea. I think the only one of these "blockbusters" I saw when it came out, was "Kahn". http://collider.com/alamo-drafthouse-summer-1982/149663/
  21. Not bad...but Roger Millers' original is one of the all-time great songs. I think Randy Travis' first 3 albums were pretty solid, stone country in the vein of Merle Haggard and Vern Gosdin...
