No no. Dont get me wrong. Astro is a huge asset here from what I've seen so far. He gives us mocks to chew on. As you say "thought provoking" stuff. Nuthin bad to say about him whatsoever. Its the everyone "sucks" , "no" etc. crowd here that is hard to take. There are some some well schooled folks here. Quite a few. Love reading their takes. Unfortunately there are an equal amount that like to disagree just for the sake of disagreeing......... On a web site, behind a keyboard...where they are safe from injury. They will select who they select. We can speculate all we want. End game, they do what they do. And...we support em. The folks making the decisions have forgotten more than ANYONE on an internet chat site will EVER know. Thats all I've got. jb

They've only made one signing. Does it bother me? No. They have a plan which we will learn more about as time goes on. Anything here is speculation, although certain posters do provide some great analysis. The only thing I know for sure is that as soon as they make their next signing in FA, this board will light up like a Christmas tree with negativity. Over half the people here will say bad move. This scenario "could" actually work to our advantage. Bills could probably trade down, gain a pic or two and still get one of the 2nd tier candidates. Or better yet, 2 of the 2nd tier candidates. jb

Just put him in the pre-season rotation. Let him compete. If he loses out to the rookie(s) or Tavaris, fine. Use em as a back-up, or release em. He is 7-4 (i believe) as a starter, albeit on a good defensive team. Stupid idea? I dunno, maybe. But hell, like I said before, what have we got to lose ? The circus of it all would be entertaining. And...I know for a fact EVERY one of you guys would be tuned in; in the event he was named our starter. FACT #1. 7-4 starting record FACT #2. No one here knows how effective he would be. (including me) OPINION: It'd be a blast watching him. Would give Buffalo some much needed exposure I'd love to see him in a Bills uniform. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it ! What have we got to lose fellas ? !! Let him compete. See what happens. jb

If he could be had cheap, why the hell not ? Sell a lot of seats no doubt. Let him compete against the rookies. Use him as a change-up in the offense. Run a little wild cat. Run a little read option stuff. Like I say, what have we got to lose? Very unlikely we'll have a good QB this year. Even if we draft a future star chances are he won't be very good this year...if he even plays at all. Tebow's won a few games. Thrown some REALLY bad passes....but some pretty darn good ones too. Especially in Denver's playoff run. At least it would make the season interesting. What the heck. jb

Probably already been said..BUT, what amazes me is how Buddy states he is strapped with this QB situation. He's the one that created it with the large contract offer for Fitz. Kind of an admission of guilt it appears. jb

We were VERY close to winning 3 games (that we ended up losing). Even with a mediocre QB. Hell if we won those games we might have even had a shot at the playoffs. Yes, I saw the turnovers. Yes I saw the bad pass routes run by a totally pathetic group of receivers. Listen. I am not saying Fitz is Joe Montana. He's an average QB IMO. I think he could be a pretty good QB...if he had someone to throw to besides the triple covered SJ. He gets rid of the ball quick......and on target in the short game. Very important in a WC scheme. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it....and then we have to read all of this crap all over again next year ! LOL ! Dude I just want this team to win. Thats all. I hope I'm wrong but I don't have a warm fuzzy about any of the QB's available via FA, or the draft. Good God I would love some Crow right now ! jb

Its easy...and sexy..... to blame the QB for EVERYTHING that is wrong with a football team. Thats what clue-less folks do. Especially for Buffalo. Our problems are rooted WAY deeper than Fitz. And...you all know it. But complaining on the Bills chat site is what gets hits so why not say its all fitz's fault right ? Fitz will be a Bill this year. You heard it here first. Like it or not, he's a Bill. For 2013. Will he start ? I hope not, but I hope so if we draft one of these scrubs. I want to see this team win some games. Fitz aint the guy I get that. But he is the best option for 2013. With an improved defense he is good enough to take us one level deep in the playoffs and I'll take that all day long at this point. jb

I dont recall who...but it has been tried a couple times over the years. I think the problem you run into is preparing for the next opponent. Teams only have a week to prepare and now you've got two guys taking snaps with the starting offense limiting their snaps in preparation. Not saying it couldn't work but I believe it disrupts continuity a bit. EDIT: Conversely..I suppose it does give the defense more to prepare for as well. jb

Can't really argue with OP. Either of these guys could bring something to a team under the right circumstances. In our case though, I don't think its worth it. We're stuck with Fitz's cap hit whether we cut him or not. May as well hang on to Fitz since he's at least as talented as either of the two QB's mentioned. Fitz is a solid back-up for us as well. We are going to draft and start a rookie as I see it. Hopefully an effective one. If he gets hurt, we've got a pretty darn good back-up in Fitz to hold the fort. jb
