Does anybody else think that Kolb could be a surprise cut
jaybee replied to bufffan031's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I 2nd the "no way in hell does he get cut" comment by SJBF. I also 2nd OldTimer1960 saying (paraphrase) "Lets see what these guys got in pre-season....most sensible thought in the thread. Nearly half the players currently on this roster will be cut in the weeks ahead. 37 out of 90 players unfortunately will get cut. You really think a veteran QB that pretty much knows the offense is gonna be on that list? It'd be up there in the top 10 silly moves of this franchise IMO. NO WAY IN HELL does Colb get cut. Frankly theres a better chance of Kolb being our starting QB week one than getting cut. Hey I'm routing for both of these guys in a large way. Could care less which one starts if he's playing well. It is entirely possible that EJ will look horrible when the bullets fly. I suspect and hope not. But what if he does? You really want Tuel to come in if EJ started and got hurt? I certainly dont and there arent any free agents available that are better than Kolb. The whole subject is actually kind of silly. -
I am not kidding when I say #15, Chris Hogan. Of all the receivers I've seen at camp...this guy really amazes me in his ability to get open...and catch footballs. Yea, he's a longshot with our depth at the position but I'm kind of routing for this college Lacrosse stand-out. He'll catch on somewhere if not here.

The only thing that scares me is that it looks as though Tebow is ready to come in for a miracle comeback. You can see it in his face as he gazes at the vicious hit.

Please God.....let this be a repetitive highlight week one in Orchard Park. I'm so geeked over the week one game...I'll be pacing like an expecting damn father all morning long! LOL !

Looks like Bellechick has lost a little weight.

Biggest Training Camp Dissapointments
jaybee replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BANG ! Thats nailin it right there. -
That was a good interview. Made me happy to hear him say he will spend his retirement doing things like football camps, skateboarding stuff etc.with kids. Give kids an opportunity to get off the street and do positive things. Very cool. He was saying his agent reminded him of just how "large" he is and antics such as the "why so serious" moment are a bad example to set for the rookies...and other young players. I am VERY proud to have Stevie Johnson on our team. IMO...the face of the franchise .....so far. Love everything about the kid. Go Stevie, Go Buffalo ! LOL ! EDIT: I'm paraphrasing here...but he said something to the effect I'll do what I have to do when week one comes along to make plays. Like Bandit said.....not playing in this pre-season game is the prudent thing to do. We need Stevie badly. Not just for his talent but I'm thinking he will be a respected leader of our young receiving core.

Ya know its kind of funny. I miss football HUGE every year at the end of the season and beyond. Then...the pre-season starts and I have no interest whatsoever in watching the games. The Bills....A DIFFERENT STORY. I will watch every play of every game in the pre-season doing my own talent evaluation for MY BELOVED BILLS !! Will listen to Murph on the blackouts.....and tune him in on the non-blackouts while watching the tube. I'm pretty excited about this team. More so than in recent years. It just has a now or never feel to it. A sense of urgency I dont really recall....with the exception of the Mario signing which....well....maybe wasnt all that good of an idea but I hope I'm wrong on that one. Thanks for the note, Jack. jb

Other teams Training Camp injuries
jaybee replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Danario Alexander, WR, San Diego Chargers. Torn ACL. http://www.boltsfrom...-has-a-torn-acl EDIT: It just kills me to see these players get hurt. I'm not a fan of these other teams here but I really dont like seeing great athletes on any team get hurt. -
Time to trade for Skelton maybe ? LOL !
-
25 yard FG by the rookie Dustin H. Tuel some good play action and some nice chunks of yardage run for by Kendall Gaskin on that drive.

EJ picked again on a tipped ball. Arthur Moats pick.

Stevie Johnson helped off the field

Coach thinks Kolb will be ready for Monday's scrimmage. I really hope this to be true. We need two healthy QB's to start this war of a season. We are suffering more injuries early on than I'd hoped. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2013/08/04/kolb-has-chance-to-play-in-scrimmage/ -
Which isnt too bad but he (and Stevie, Mike Caussin) lose reps learning this new system which is kind of a bummer. I guess EJ maybe ends up getting the nod if this is the case. Not a bad thing. Just hope he's ready come the NE opener and if not I suspect the offensive coaches will install an offensive game plan that he is proficient with. If EJ does start, and wins week one against NE I'll lose my voice for about a month ! LOL ! EDIT: EJ does look like one of those guys that is a thoroughbred, and one that'll be a good one regardless of how hot the fire is when they throw him in. May take some time. When its all said and done I think he'll make us fans happy. Sure hope so anyway !

Yea, he's a Colt.
-
I am wondering if Brad Smith will be worked into the rotation, if its a serious injury. EDIT: This was not the 1st news I wanted to hear today.
-
Lets hope it is nothing serious. We need Kolb healthy.

According to Dan Moriarty (just interviewed on Radio) the status of Stevie's injury will be addressed by Coach Marrone tomorrow at 11:00am after practice. Dan also stated that Kevin Kolb had his best practice of training camp so far and EJ was sharp as well having taken more reps against the #1s. I guess EJ ended his day with a bomb TD to M Goodwin. Cool !

Believe this to be correct. Really bummed about Stevie. I guess if it had to happen, better now than during a game. It gives more time to groom his back-up I suppose. Get well Stevie. I also saw on the TC blog that back-up TE Caussyn (sp?) was injured as well.....no details.

My Excitement For Upcoming Season Arrived Big Time Today
jaybee replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I look at it this way...I hope its a knock down drag out fight that is VERY close and VERY hard for the coaches to decide. This way if whoever the starter is goes down, we've got a capable back up that can play just as well. I'm routing for both of these guys to play lights out football. -
So sick and tired of (most) local Buffalo media guys...
jaybee replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spot on. Its not just the Buffalo media either. Its a big reason why I'm a frequent visitor of this board. I prefer the fans take on our team. Even though I dont always agree with all of it, its their honest assessment without any axe to grind and not an attempt at raising unneeded controversy. I applaud coach Marrone in his handling of the recent interview too. He tactfully told the guy to kind of shuddupp !!! LOL ! -
LOL ! I guess I meant he "shanked" it. Is that a word ? !! Only went about 15 yards.

We're only 2 days into training camp so I think its still up in the air. To me, EJ clearly looked better today. A lot of his stuff was short throws but they were released quick and made it accurately to the receivers in stride. Early on his throws were low and in a few cases a bit behind the receiver. I was VERY impressed with Robert Woods and Marquise Goodman made one helluva grab. Gragg made a few grabs. Kid almost looks more like a WR than a TE. Another name you dont hear but the kid must have caught a dozen balls today #15..Chris Hogan. Kolb had to throw a few balls away when no one was open. He seemed to take a bit too long getting rid of it today I thought. He is very vocal out there and appears to have a good command of the huddle. Man there was one play where Kiko blitzed from the left side. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon. EJ completed the pass but would have been crushed had it been a real play. Shawn Powell was dropping punts from the stratosphere. He did muff one but man that kid can kick. TJ muffed a punt. He was peeking, the ball went thru his arms and o/b at around the two. I sat right next to Howard Simon. He must have scribbled 4 pages of notes.

Couple shots from today.
