1. Somebody help jog my memory. On Saturday wrestling on Canadian TV(late 60's/early 70's) there was a wrestler(I believe he was deaf) who would always take a pounding. Anybody remember him or what his name was?

PS Great Aud wrestling memories...Denucci & Parisi, Ernie Ladd & BoBo Brazil!

  2. Does it mean they will move no. BUT being the only team to have a non sellout so far this season does not go over to well.

Teams that are 2-8 are selling out and we are 4-6.

    Very sad

Guess you all wont know what you have until it is gone....Trust me it will be gone

Ask Baltimore and Cleveland who had very loyal fans.

OMG...I just checked online and could get at least 8 seats together for this Sunday at either St. Louis, Atlanta or Tennessee. Good to know that the Bills are the only team who does not sellout all their games.

  3. Damn shame.  Stuff like this will haunt this small market team.

OMG....A Bills game didn't sellout in time to be televised locally! Get channel 2, 4 and 7 out there now and watch for the moving vans! It's not the first game that didn't sell out over the last 40 years and it won't be the last. It doesn't mean the Bills are going to be moved to another city.

  4. Enough with the NFL network bitching. If you want NFL network all you have to do is get Directv. It's so much better than "digital" cable anyways, has more HD channels and is cheaper.

Why do we have to keep discussing this?

And don't use the excuse that you live in an apartment, etc. It is illegal (in most states, I believe) for an apartment complex to prevent a tenant from getting a satellite. Years ago I had this issue, threaten the illegality of it and they backed off. I got a stand and put in on my back deck. Problem solved.

Did it ever dawn on you that some people may not want a 2 ft grey saucer hanging off the side off their house? 0:) It's a real simple concept, so read it slowly...If you don't want to read about TW/NFL Network issues, DON'T OPEN THE THREAD.

  5. It's funny to see just how dumb people can be.  You're blaming the wrong person if you're blaming your cable company.  The real problem is the NFL being greedy as usual.  Not every household wants to pay extra for the NFL network.  It should be up to the consumer on whether or not they want to pay the extra monthly fee to get the sports premium package.  If the cable companies give in and allow NFL network to be apart of the basic package then it will raise the price for every consumer.  The NFL is hoping that enough people call complaining that the cable companies will have to make it apart of the basic plan.  What people should really do is boycott it and not make the complaining calls.  If you really want the channel stop being so cheap and pay the extra 2 dollars a month and get the sports premium package.

You say, "Not every household wants to pay for the NFL Network"???:P Well guess what...there is a whole bunch of crap on basic cable that I don't want to pay for. The NFL may be trying to bend over TW a bit, but please don't absolve TW of any blame. How much of a price reduction did I get from Adelphia/TW when Empire Sports went under? How about when TW dropped ESPNU? The cable companies are rolling in dough and adding this channel without passing on the ENTIRE cost to the consumer isn't going to kill them. Let's see how customer friendly TW and the other cable giants become when Verizon starts rolling out TV service via fios. They will be singing a different tune then.

PS Before you go around calling people dumb & cheap, if you are a TW customer(at least here in WNY), there is no option to get the NFL Network on a higher tier at an additional cost. 0:)

  6. What a surprise...a guy who is 6 games away from cashing in on the payday of a lifetime has all of sudden come to life. He is worth 5-6 million, but not the ridiculous jack that will be thrown at him come free agency. He is going to laugh at Marv between now and free agency if he tries to get him to sign a long term contract.

  7. 3) The Bills season should be sold out and a season ticket waiting list should exist - ala Green Bay.

    844466

No comparison. Football is their life in Green Bay and fans support the team, good or bad. It will always be that way. Buffalo has 40,000-50,000 hard core football fans who show up when the team is good or bad. The fact that so many games have sold out in recent years should be viewed as a positive. It also helps when the stadium capacity is reduced by several thousand seats during this same timeframe.

  8. me, too. throw in Danny Wegman, too.

As a bills fan and huge buffalo supporter - i have zero confidence in our politicians and business community to get their act together to preserve a great tradition in Buffalo.

Yes, we have Schumer and Higgins battling on our behalf - but the fan base must continue to do its part - buy more season tickets and sell out this team.

Yes, winning will help - but supporting this team is non-negotiable.  Making a stand because you do not support the product only enables a re-lo.

(Sorry, I don't know why the fact that we have 7500 tix left bothers me.  If we can't sell out this game on a holiday weekend, I can't imagine what the next three will be like after JAX - god I hope the Bills WIN all the way).

Go Bills and happy turkey day.

    844505

Give it a rest with the "it's a holiday weekend therefore the game should be sold out" crap. This coming Sunday is like any other Sunday and almost everybody goes back to to work on Monday and anybody in from out of town is either gone back or heading back on Sunday. Bottom line....come November/December tickets are a tough sell when the team is not performing.

  9. first off, schobel is not resposible for the run on most plays,

    843228

I'm not going to proclaim that I have access to the Bills playbook or I know what the coaches are telling the players to do, but if what you say is true, than I guess I shouldn't be pissed at AS, and redirect my anger at the defensive coaches instead. I really don't care what scheme they play, but when a RB can run through gaping holes where a DE or other player should be, something is F***ed up and adjustments need to be made. A team that runs the ball as poorly as Houston does, should not be able to pile up the yardage they did yesterday.

  10. They are doing what they're told to do, which is get upfield and not allow the QB time to throw the ball deep.  As Jaworksi says, points come from the passing game and the Bills are selling out at the line and playing deep in the secondary to avoid getting beaten over the top.....for points.

The problem is a lack of talent at DT means this team is going to get blown up in the run game.  Hell, we should be thankful that Gary Kubiak had Carr throw that ball on 3rd and 2 at the end of the game.  That was a gift from the football gods.  Last week, in a simialar situation the Colts ran the ball for a huge gain and put the game away.  Three weeks ago, the Packers chucked the game away at the goal line when they could have just waltzed it in.  At some point, even the bad teams are going to catch on and run the ball when it matters, and then we're going to need a playmaking DT to make this defense work.

    842665

They are being told to go upfield(and very wide!!) with no regard for playing the run? I can't believe the coaches are that dumb, but after the last 5 years, anything is possible.

  11. I'm not real happy with our DE play. Too many upfield speed rushes which leave a huge gap between guard and tackle. This has been consistently exploited by opposing teams this season. These guys need to learn a move besides running 10 yards into the backfield and hoping the QB is there.

    RTB

    842390

    Amen!!

  12. I would love to see the Bills coaching staff open the play book up just a little more for JP today vs Houston. How about some fades to the corner of the endzone or something. Take some shots to the endzone. Let's see what this kid is really made of. It's really hard to tell with the conservative play calling that goes on week to week. Kicking field goals is not the answer for us every week. If JP is not capable of doing it then why waste time on him.

    Will it happen today?

    841145

How about some rollouts or designed running plays(QB draws or bootlegs). You finally get rid of the lead foot statue and replace him with a guy who has mobility and you choose to completely ignore this. Jauron, Fairchild, Shoenert, etc...Way to stick your "vanilla offense" heads in the sand.

PS I don't want to hear about how he needs to be a pocket passer first. bull sh--! :o

  13. You idiots who think Nall will be any better than Losman must've been dropped a couple times on your heads when you were kids.  Either that, or you need to lay off the crack.

Seriously, if he can't even beat Holcomb for the #2, he can't be that good.  And I'd be willing to listen to the coaches than any armchair GM on this board any day.

    828457

Ah....nothing like a "coaches know more than you do" post. Thanks for stating this Captain Obvious. :P

Note to Scott....shut the board down right now because the coaches know more than everyone here combined. :w00t::P
