1. If I was the GM of the Bills, my no.1 target going into Free Agency would be... Kris Diehlman. Diehlman is one of the leaders on a great SD Chargers line and he could come in right away and sure up one of the guard spots..

I agree. Steinbach is going to get a Hutchinson like contract, but Diehlman appears to be someone who wouldn't break the bank, yet would be a great upgrade at RG.

I'm not sure how much of a spending mood Ralphie will be in, but also bringing in a LB and a WR to seriously compete for starting jobs would also go a long way towards a successful season next year.

  2. Unbelievable ending. In the 3rd quarter when the OU punt went off the ankle of the Boise State player, you could sense the momentum change. After the INT for the TD, the OU fans were probably thinking "we are going to celebrate tonight". Then, not only do they get kicked in the nuts on the hook and ladder play, they get beat on a direct snap and TD pass by a WR, followed by a coach going for 2 and pulling it off with a statue of liberty play.

  3. Re-sign: Clements, Fletcher, Gandy(move to RG), Lindell, Kiwaukee

    Tender: Hargrove, Preston

Release: T.Anderson, Reyes, Greer, Price, Villarrial

    Restructure: TKO

I just don't see Clements signing here in any scenario. Somebody will break the bank for him in a way that Ralph doesn't even have dreams about. I'd consider giving Fletcher a 2 year deal, but only if there is not a better option in FA. Lindell just signed a 5 year contract. I have no problems with any of the guys you want to release except for maybe Greer & Price. Anderson, Reyes & Villarial bring nothing to the table. I like the TKO restructure, but not sure he would agree to it.

  4. 2003...Your grading seems to be a WEE BIT generous. The only A's that I would be handing out would be for Evans, Moorman, Lindell & Peters, with an A- or B+ for Schobel & Clements. The rest of the high grades you gave out are belated Christmas gifts.

If I was guessing the Bills record based on this, I would say 10-6 or 11-5.

  5. a more interesting and revealing article about Gregggg WIlliams is this:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?id=2672668

    Unbelievable...

"Why are we the 30th defense in the league? I think coaches got arrogant, I think Gregg got arrogant," the player said Tuesday, asking not to be identified. "They thought they figured it all out. They thought, 'We can win with scheme, we don't need players.' Don't be mistaken, this is a player-driven game, and so you need players. Any time in life when somebody thinks they've got it all figured out, it's going to come and get you. It's going to come and get you … the sentiment is a lot of guys are mad because the coaches think it's all about them. They think they're f------ geniuses, thinking they can just let guys go and get away with handling people badly."

To be specific, Redskins defenders, particularly in the secondary, have regressed, Taylor being the main culprit. Out of the University of Miami, Taylor was arguably the most-talented cover safety to enter the league in years. His first preseason game, he intercepted two passes, returning one for a score. But he's been tinkered with so much now, Redskins players say he no longer plays on instinct.

A lot of Taylor's woes can be traced a lot to the hiring of Steve Jackson as Redskins safety coach. Jackson came with Williams from Buffalo, where he was a lower-level defensive coach, and Jackson supposedly was hurt when Williams chose DeWayne Walker as his main secondary coach in 2003 and 2004. He wanted the job himself, and when Walker left after the 2005 season, he assumed he'd get it. But Williams' old defensive coordinator in Buffalo, Jerry Gray, had just become available, and Williams hired him. Jackson was ticked.

So Williams threw him a bone, a bone which has literally torn up the secondary. He made Jackson safeties coach and Gray cornerbacks coach and allowed Jackson to run his own meetings. That means that the Redskins' safeties and corners do not meet together, which is practically unheard of.

"Talk to any coach in the league, and ask them, 'Have you ever heard of corners and safeties not meeting together?'" the Redskins player says. "They'd say, 'What are you talking about?' That's crazy. But ever since minicamps, OTAs, training camp, we hadn't met as a secondary. On the field, the corners will start making a call or doing something, and the safeties will be, 'What are you talking about? We didn't go over that.' So now the corners are expecting help in certain situations, and the safeties aren't getting there in time. And people got beat in the secondary.

  6. wow 40 million under the cap..........Buffalo has the potential to do some damage on the FA market.....and enough to retain Nate & Fletcher, NO?

I will be the first to admit im not great at the #'s thing!

"Buffalo HAS the potential..." with HAS being the key word. Doesn't mean sh-- if Ralph doesn't want to lay out the cash.

  7. Before you judge Willis, Id like to see him run behind a good line....

I think Willis is a very good RB.  Our O line is crap....

    877825

This is the same crap we heard about DB during his stay here. The bottom line is that the Bills have a straight ahead style runner who can't make anyone miss and doesn't have the beef or the willingness to run through tacklers.

  8. Here are some things to look forward to.

    1. JP Losman is a good young QB. He played well the second half of the year.

    2. Willis McGahee will be resigned. Levy and Jauron like his toughness.

    3. Lee Evans is a All-Pro reciever.

    4. Aaron Shoebel is a all pro DE.

    5. London Fletcher is a stud and will be resigned. Wilson, Levy and Jauron like him.

    5. The Special teams are great.

    6. The team is full of good young players.

    7. The coaching staff is good. (they made some bad calls, but who doesnt)

    8. Marv Levy knows what hes doing. Just look how the team is compared to the past.

    9. The Bills will have alot of Cap space to work with.

    10. This team is close to being REALLY good.

    1. JP Losman is a good young QB. He played well the second half of the year. Agreed

    2. Willis McGahee will be resigned. Levy and Jauron like his toughness.WM is gone after next year. He is an average RB with no elusiveness

    3. Lee Evans is a All-Pro reciever. He is on his way to a very good career

    4. Aaron Shoebel is a all pro DE.All Pro?? I don't think so. This is reserved for the TOP 2 DE's in the NFL

    5. London Fletcher is a stud and will be resigned. Wilson, Levy and Jauron like him.Good player, but is at the age where some players hit the wall. Be careful how long of a contract you sign him to!

    5. The Special teams are great.Agreed

    6. The team is full of good young players.Only time will tell which of these young guns become above average starters

    7. The coaching staff is good. (they made some bad calls, but who doesnt)I have no problem with the coaching staff. They appear to be an upgrade over the previous two regimes

    8. Marv Levy knows what hes doing. Just look how the team is compared to the past.I'm not sure how much input Marv has at the draft and in terms of FA. Are most decisions primarily coming from Modrak and Guy???

    9. The Bills will have alot of Cap space to work with.Doesn't mean Ralph is opening up the pocketbook!

    10. This team is close to being REALLY good. No, the team is close to being GOOD. I would consider the term "really good" to be associated with a record of 12 wins or better and I believe this is at least 2 years away.

  9. I tried to be slick and buy my girlfriend a Pominville home jersey, found a guy on ebay and we talked thru email cuz he said that would be the quickest way, promiced me i'd get the jersey in time for christmas and i send him the cash thru mail...... now he doesnt anwser my emails or anything.

    873823

You sent him CASH and now he doesn't respond to your emails? I can't believe this!!

  10. With the dismal start the Bills had, I couldn't wait for the hockey season to start. I figured that if the Bills are rebuilding, concentrate on the Sabres. But the Bills of late have me reconsidering who my favorite Buffalo team is right now.

    Is Buffalo a football-town, or a hockey-town?

I know the question was raised when the Sabres started the year with their hot win-streak, but now that the Bills are ripping it, I wonder what the polls would look like now.

    872856

Greta post. Let me know how you feel the next time the Sabres go on a winning streak.

    Friggin' weathervane! :nana:
