  1. I can appreciate Shumers interest in keeping the Bills here, but considering how F***ed up New York State is, I would think there are things higher on the pecking order than this.

Now wonder this state is a joke.

WHEN THINGS DON'T CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, DON'T RE-ELECT POLITICIANS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. :P

  2. Just because he is more exuberant than others doesn't mean they have any less heart than him. It's different strokes for different folks.

Exactly. I'm not saying Hargrove cannot be a good player for the Bills, but everyone also loved Krumrie because he ran around with a lot of energy and had this great wrestling test to determine what college DT's were draft worthy.

We all know how that worked out. :wallbash:

  3. Howard Simon is talking about that god awful, ridiculous e-mail that has been floating around. You know the one. That one that just won't go away. HS doesn't believe the story. Neither do I. Which is why I will not even specify what that dumb @ss e mail is about.

You don't believe it, HS doesn't believe it, you don't want to mention it by name, BUT...

you start another thread about it! :wallbash::P

  4. To those who either know a lot about the subject or have had a Lennox furnace installed recently...

My furnace blower motor is dying. I had two different contractors tell me that considering the age of the furnace(25 years or so), don't bother investing in the cost of a blower($300-400 contractor repair).

    My question is...

I have an estimate for a Lennox G43 furnace installed for $2500. Does this sound reasonable? I'm not really interested in knowing if another type of furnace is a better deal(I like the Lennox brand name), just that I am not overpaying for the model I am looking at.

    Thanks!!

  5. Have to disagree with you on that one. Corey Moore was not asked to play a position different from the one he had excelled in or was drafted for. 'Slash' type players are very rare and don't have a significant impact on any position if they are playing a multiple of them. One example is of Kordell Stewart drafted as a WR, given the chance to become a QB which shortened his NFL career because he could not reverse that sequence. Let CW bulk up over the off-season and let our coaches train him as they did JP - worst case we may have a decent spot-duty MLB. Sheer enthusiasm may ensure he performs atleast adequately in that role.

Corey Moore was just an example. My point is that there are many conference all americans in college who just didn't have what it took to play in the nfl.

  6. You're right, because a guy who was a 2nd team all american at stanford, and 1st team all pac-10 at the LINEBACKER position obviously has no talent and no ability to play linebacker.

...and players like former Bills draftee Corey Moore were also GREAT college football players that didn't amount to sh-- in the NFL. Since when does great in college equal NFL caliber player?

  7. I never made such claims, but I'd certainly take April's evaluation over a bunch of numbers that you seem to believe holds a great deal of importance.

I've never claimed to be as smart as the coaches, it's just my opinion. To me a guy that has been around as long as he has and has no upside as a starter doesn't have a place on the team.

PS Anyone(not aimed at you) who compares Wire to Tasker or Pike needs to put down the pipe. They are not even in the same league.

  8. He was a first day draft pick as a LB.

He was a college LB who was drafted and projected to play safety in the NFL. He was not drafted with the intent to play LB at the NFL level. He is a fringe NFL player, nothing more, nothing less.

PS To those who like to proclaim that CW is a GREAT ST'er, he was not even 1st or 2nd on his own team in ST tackles.

  9. Haven't been to a concert in many years. Spending that kind of money never knowing the quality or length of performance is enough to make me spend my entertainment dollars elsewhere.

The only exception i would ever make is for Paul McCartney. I've always wanted to see him in concert.

PS Billy Joel is coming to HSBC Arena in April. $85 for all seats except for the 300 level at the opposite end of the stage. Those are ONLY $50.

  10. Different regimes....TD chose not to pick Steinbach. Steinbach has already proved that he is one of the best at his position for the last 5 years...What makes you think Marv will also ignore him.

I realize it was different regimes. TD chose not to pick him because he is smarter than all the other GM's combined. Marv will not sign him because he is going to command HUGE $$$$.

  11. Any day now, rotoworld will report that the world is flat.

The odds of Steinbach being re-signed by the B'gals are nil. They spent big $$$ to re-sign LT Levi Jones and TR Willie Anderson last year. Their #2 pick in the last draft - in anticipation of seeing Steinbach move on - was Andrew Whitworth, G/T from LSU. Also, 2004 4th round player Stacey Andrews (younger brother of PHI's Shawn Andrews) has had several starts at the guard spot.

And the odds are good that whoever signs Steinbach will do so because they want him to play LT...

I agree. The odds of him signing with Buffalo are between slim and none.

PS If the Bills wanted Steinbach in uniform, they would have drafted him several years ago instead of our GM acting like he is smarter than everyone else in drafting a 1 legged RB instead.

  12. I just hope that when all is said and done, Fios ends up costing less than cable for tv and internet.

I wouldn't count on it. I think when all is said and done, the price will be pretty comparable. You may see one company have a promotion from time to time, but if you have a $110 monthly bill for cable/internet currently, I wouldn't expect FIOS to be much lower.

Does anyone have FIOS TV/Internet currently that could share pricing info?

  13. Yep, I got FIOS internet in West Seneca, and it is fine. What is the issue holding up FIOS TV though? Because I can't wait to tell TW to kiss off. No one is worse

Strictly a guess on my part, but either Verizon has some FCC hurdles to overcome or they are waiting until they have the fiber laid in the majority of WNY.

  14. Don't get your hopes up. I'd expect VZ to sell WNY before it ever invests in the area. They are focusing more on the more metro areas and selling off their more rural/less populated areas. See the sale of New England area last week.

WRONG. Fiber has already been layed in Hamburg/Orchard Park/West Seneca(I can't remember which 2) and now I hear they are working in Williamsville. It will be deployed throughout WNY.

  15. So I guess to sum it all up. There are bunches of Northern states and cities who want teams and with the new CBA, Canadian teams can make money with their team without getting killed with taxes. Move these teams to cities to deserve them. Nothing would be better to see some of those old teams comes back to the NHL.... I think this would really make the NHL strong again.

Which "northern cities" are you referring to. The market looks pretty tapped out to me.

  16. I just recently moved back and have been VERY disappointed with WGR. It is just too tough to listen nowadays. Schopp has admittedly no interest in football and would rather talk hockey all the time. I realize the Sabres are good this year but nobody outside of WNY cares or even knows that the Sabres exist. I go to their games and root for them as well, but let's face it,it is a 2nd to 3rd class sport on a national level. There just is no interest.

I have heard no free agency talk, Bills offseason talk etc... The coach was a jerk, but at least it was fun and you could listen to football talk even during the time leading up to the Super Bowl--imagine that!

Even during the Bills second half run there was not nearly as much talk as you would think. Is Buffalo really that disinterested in football now????

Schoop has had a thing against the Bills organization for several years now and he lets it get in his way of offering unbiased opinions when it comes to the Bills and the NFL in general. The sooner Mr. Baseball moves on, the better off WGR will be.
