  1. Is this something that some football junkie came up with who has too much time on their hands? I can't believe that 2 GM's talking trade bring this up in negotiations...

AJ...If we do this trade you end up ahead by 50 points!

Marv...Got me there. I'll also give you our 6th and 7th round picks next year, but I hope no one knows about this chart, because now the deal is in your favor by 20 points.

    AJ...DEAL!

    :wallbash: :wallbash:

  2. You put the best players on the field, regardless of pay. So if Walker turns out to be a poor investment, so be it. But it's better to be sitting on a couple of good options rather than saying outright that Pennington is not going to be the guy. As was the case with JP last year, the competition will do everybody good.

Pennington may have been a 7th rounder but we have seen street free agents blossom into great tackles. It's not the norm but it does happen. At the same time, the investment in Walker will no go unnoticed and if he is the man for the job he will surely earn it.

This is not a Bennie Anderson, Mike Gandy or Tutan Reyes type signing. If Walker isn't starting on opening day, Marv is going to have some serious egg on his face.

  3. I'm stunned at how many people say they're skeptical of Turner because he's unproven, and then turn around and say they prefer to get their RB from the freaking draft.

What the hell is the difference between an unproven NFL back and an unproven college back in the NFL? Plenty. And none of it supports the theory that a college back is better.

I have no problem with people being skeptical of Turner as a starter, but to say this because he's "unproven" essentially admits that you don't want anything other than a vet. So take your pick: Dillon or Brown. Oh, wait. Dillon is old and Brown isn't...ummm...proven.

We may as well wait until a proven back is available to us. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

    Agree 100%!!!!!

PS Common sense has never been a requirement for posting on message boards.

  4. Why? That move - as stated, would be idiotic. Doesn't matter how well he ends up playing, you could've have had him for less, i.e. his true market value.

A guy could buy a new car, pay $100,000 when it's worth $25,000. It could perform flawlessly for years, and he is extremely happy. Doesn't mean he's not an idiot :):(

So how do you determine what Turners "true market value" is?

  5. About this time last year, Edgerrin James signed a 4-year, $30 million deal. Thomas Jones fetched a lone 2nd round pick.

I find this extremely hard to believe. If true, Marv vaults to the top of the "Worst GM In Sports" list ahead of Billy King.

Once again...even if this is true, can we wait to see how the guy plays in a Bills uniform before getting the noose ready for Marv? :):(

  6. COLLEGE: Left campus ranked 13th on NCAA all-time rushing list with 4,941 yards…second-most rushing yards in Mid-American Conference annals…set school rushing records for yards (4,941), carries (940), touchdowns (43) and 100-yard games (21)…shattered school mark for all-purpose yards (6,038)…second in school history for total points scored (288)…second-team All-America by NFL Draft Report as junior and senior…second-team All-America by Sporting News as senior and third-team as junior…second-team by Sports Illustrated and College Sports Report and third-team by Associated Press…first-team All-MAC as junior and senior…second-leading rusher in nation with 1,648 yards as senior…MAC Player of Year by College Football News, second-team All-America by Football News, third-team by Pro Football Weekly and honorable mention by Sports Illustrated as junior…nation’s second-leading rusher as junior with 1,915 yards, including career-high 282 against Western Illinois…rushed for 230 yards in first college game against Eastern Michigan…played at Northern Illinois from 2000-03…liberal arts and science major.

You'd have good stats too if you got to play UB every year! Kidding aside, I'd love to see Turner here. He knows what it takes to play in the NFL and has great skills vs. a draft pick which is always a crap shoot i.e. Tub of Goo Williams.

  7. Lawyers, start your engines:

"Tielman predicted the battle to retain the historic site as a public plaza with small-scale development will be fought beyond the preservation community."

This guy is an obstructionist, not a preservationist. How much F***ing green space do we need? What a joke he is. I have a good use for some of the waterfront money. Ask this numnuts, how much it would cost to make him go away FOREVER!

  8. Interesting. Apparently Marv started a trend.

Don Pierson, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo and LB Lance Briggs met to discuss Briggs' contract situation. Angelo offered not to use the franchise tag on Briggs next year if Briggs would play this season. Briggs has said he will sit out the season if the Bears keep the franchise tag on him. No agreement occured during the meeting.

I can't remember who has done it in the past, but Marv was not the first one to make this "promise".
